End of Chapter 28
***Alice's POV***
"Can we open the card?" Emmett asked.
"Just a moment." Carlisle said as he came over and scooped Bella up in his arms, carrying her into the bedroom where she could sleep in peace.
When he returned Jasper had taken Bella's place on the couch, his arms wrapped around me like a blanket. Rosalie and Emmett had taken the overstuffed chair, while Esme sat on the other end of the couch, waiting for Carlisle to join her.
"Rosalie." Carlisle said as he sat down and pulled Esme next to his side.
Rosalie nodded slightly before she gently tore open the envelope, removing the small card that was plain white except for what looked like a blood red colored V.
"How nice of you all to join us, we hoped you would come to visit Carlisle, and we are most pleased that you have brought your family and dear Bella with you. We would like to invite you to the castle tomorrow evening for a 'reunion' of sorts." Rosalie read through gritted teeth. "Someone will be around in the morning with further information, until then...sweet dreams"
Chapter 29
***Alice's POV***
We had dissected the entire message word by word, and all Carlisle could tell the family was that we were in trouble. That this entire meeting was in their hands, Aro, Caius, and Marcus had control over this entire meeting.
Jasper asked for descriptions of the entire castle area, which Carlisle did as well as he could remember. It had been a few hundred years since he had been here last, but he drew the floor plans of the castle as if he had been there last week. He went over the main chamber in detail, he told us on the mass size, and the way they had used it for judgment and carrying out punishments. He told us of the surrounding rooms, and the area that he thought Edward would be held in...assuming they hadn't remodeled much in the last hundred years.
We tried to come up with plans or strategies, but since none of us but Carlisle knew the area we could come up with nothing. Emmett (as usual) didn't want to wait until morning when we were contacted by them, he wanted to go bursting through the doors and start banging heads together...but Carlisle and Rosalie convinced him that it would be a horrible idea.
The one thing that all of us worried about was Bella, we knew that this could possibly turn bad quickly, and none of us wanted her there if that was the case. The only problem was how would we keep her from joining us?
"Send her home." Rosalie said as she flipped her hair out of her face.
"Yeah, like that'll work." I said as I laughed at her. "If that was Emmett in there would you just get on a plane and leave him?"
"That's different." She said as her hand wrapped around his.
"No, it isn't." I said, ending that argument right there. I didn't want to fight with Rosalie, I just wanted her to realize that there was no way we were going to get Bella to leave town..at least not without a huge meltdown/fit.
"We could have someone stay back with her." Esme suggested.
"I'm not staying back." Emmett said as he grinned.
"I don't think any of us want to." Carlise said as he rubbed his eyes.
"Well?" Emmett asked as he shrugged his ginormous shoulders.
"I guess we ask her what she wants, but not until she wakes up...she needs her sleep" Carlisle said as he looked at the closed door to the bedroom.
We talked about our options, realizing that she wouldn't let us do this without her, which meant that there was added danger. Regardless of what Bella decided, we would all go in as a family and stand strong.
I hadn't realized that the sun was rising until there was a soft knock on the door. We were all instantly on our feet, Esme and I moving to stand on either side of the bedroom door while Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie and Carlisle moved up to the door. He put his eye to the pep-hole and looked out for a second before waving his hand, signaling everyone back.
"Welcome Felix." Carlisle said as he opened the door and allowed him into the room.
I looked over to see Felix walk through the door, doing his best to look as intimidating as he possibly could. He walked into the room, his eyes scanning everyone in the room. He smiled at me and nodded his greeting before he sat down, his eyes locked on the door that Esme and I were guarding.
"You brought her with, well isn't this interesting." He said. "You look good Alice, how are you?"
"I'm fine Felix," I said, avoiding talking about Bella. "Yourself?"
"I'm good." He said as he flexed his arm slightly and smiled at me.
"Jasper," I said, smiling at him as he stood up and came to stand closer to Esme and I. I felt safer, more secure with him near, even though I knew he was uncomfortable having Felix in the room.
"Carlisle," Felix said as he nodded at him. "It's good to see you again."
"And you Felix." Carlisle said as he, Emmett and Rosalie went to sit down in the living room.
"You can relax, I won't hurt her." He said as he looked at Esme, Jasper and I.
"I think we'll stay here thank you." Esme said as she stepped closer to the door.
"Why are you here Felix?" Rosalie asked, ignoring the look that Carlisle gave her.
"Wow..beautiful and brave." He said as he smirked at Rosalie. "I came to deliver you an invitation."
"An invitation?" I said, watching his face closely.
"Yes, don't you want to come back into the castle? You left in such a hurry last time." He said as he laughed, remembering the last time we were at the castle..when Bella saved Edward and barely left with her life.
"No." I said quickly. "But I will go to save my brother."
"Yes, Edward...the reason I'm here. Caius, Aro and Marcus would like to host a family reunion of sorts. They would like for you all to come to the castle this afternoon." He said as he stood up. "They expect you all at 6:00, we will send a car."
"How is Edward?" Esme asked as Felix reached for the door, causing him to pause for a moment.
"Edward.......Edward is fine for now. He's making enemies, I think a lot of us will be happy he's gone." He said before he turned and walked out the door without another word, leaving us to think about his answer.
