End of Chapter 24
***Edward's POV***
"I saw the girl you met, with two people who I would assume are her parents. They were walking along an alley when they hear something, the mother wants to go investigate. They go down the alley and are attacked. I can't tell you anything else, I don't know her, it's hard to get a lock on her future." Alice said quickly, blurring her sentences together because of her anxiety.
"An alley?" I asked as I thought of the size of this town.
"Yes, I'm sorry I can't narrow it down anymore."
"It's ok, thanks Alice." I said as I remembered something Jasper had mentioned. "Oh Alice, Jasper said you were going to see us soon?"
"Yes, Emmett, Rosalie and I are coming down. We can't allow this to happen, we can't sit by while someone gets hurt by one of our kind." She said, the conviction in her voice was nothing to doubt. "We'll see you soon, don't go looking for trouble until we get there."
"Yeah, right." I said, knowing that Jasper and I wouldn't be waiting for her, Emmett and Rosalie.
"I mean it Edward, don't go looking for trouble."
"Yes Alice." I said as I ended the call and turned to look at Jasper. "Let's go."
Chapter 25
***Emmett's POV***
So here's what happened in the last few days:
1)Edward had finally agreed to wrestle with me, and after a short and fairly easy match I let him win. I didn't want to hurt his feelings after all, he's been so mopey lately anyway.
2)While Edward and I were wrestling I had gotten my new clothes dirty/torn and knew that if Rosalie saw me she would kill me so I ran in the house to change before she came home.
3)Apparently while I was in the house Edward 'overheard' something Jasper was thinking about him. Edward was very short tempered lately and everyone had noticed that it didn't take much to set him off, so I'm not sure why Jasper felt the need to pick a fight with him...but it worked and Edward stormed off.
4) We all thought he would just go off for a few hours and calm himself down before he came home, but all the sudden Alice had a vision about some 'girl' that Edward was going to meet and how she was going to 'change him forever.' I didn't think that sounded like a bad thing, but after Rosalie smacked me I realized that I must have been wrong. Alice was really upset about whatever she saw, which got Rosalie and Esme upset...which meant that all three of us guys had to do whatever we could to calm them down.
5)After much discussion Jasper decided it would be best if he went after Edward, tried to talk him into coming home..and if he could try and see if he could stop Edward from meeting this girl.
That was all about four days ago..and in four days our family's lives have changed quite a bit. Jasper had gone to town and tried to stop Edward from meeting this girl, but when he got there it was too late. Edward had already met this girl who is named Bella, and according to Jasper he was already acting differently...happier.
I asked Rosalie once why it was a bad thing if Edward was happy, and after a long glare and dirty look all she had to say was. "She's HUMAN."
I knew better then to push that any further, I mean I didn't see what the big deal was. Yeah she was human, yes there was the whole 'tell no one' rule..but if he was happy and she didn't get hurt or figure us out then what was the big deal?
Alice spent the majority of most days sitting on either the couch or on her bed, head in her hands as she searched for any changes in either Edward or Jasper's future. She wouldn't talk to anyone, even though all five of us had tried. It got to the point that we all just left her alone, knowing that when/if she wanted to talk she would come find us. So..it was much to all of our surprise after two days of not talking or moving that she came down the stairs, her eyes huge and from the look on her face we all knew it was something important.
"Alice?" Carlisle asked as he moved quickly and helped her onto the couch.
She didn't answer him right away, staring off into space as she searched for whatever had scared her. We all looked from Alice to each other, none of us sure what to do or say to calm her or reassure her.
"Alice?" Esme asked as she moved and ran one hand reassuringly up and down Alice's back.
"Esme?" Alice said as she blinked a few times. "Oh Esme."
"What did you see Alice?" Carlisle wondered.
"Edward...no the girl. It's very hard for me to find her, and I somehow found her and she was about to be attacked...I don't know how or why her? She was just walking with her parents and they get attacked." She gasped, before she turned and glared at Rosalie and I. "Get ready, we have to go...now. We have to stop this, Edward will...we have to stop this."
"Alice what can we do?" Rosalie asked as she looked from Alice to me and back.
"Anything!" Alice screamed as she jumped to her feet. "If we don't stop this, Edward will be destroyed...he's allowed himself to be influenced by this girl. I'm not positive but I think he will love her completely, if we allow her to be hurt it will destroy him."
"What can we do?" I asked, realizing that Alice was truly afraid.
"We have to go, I don't know where exactly they are going to be attacked, but I know some of the small details of the surrounding area. Plus, I think that the more of us looking, the better."
"Let me get some things." Rosalie said before she rushed up the stairs. "Ok, let's go." She said as she returned wearing a jacket, a bag flung over her shoulder.
I grabbed a jacket while Alice rushed up the stairs, her phone in her hand. A few minutes later she came back down stairs, obviously flustered.
"Alice?" I asked as I reached out to touch her shoulder.
"They're going to try and stop them before we get there....why couldn't they listen?"
"Who?" I asked, confused for a minute.
"Edward and Jasper, I asked them both to wait. They are going to go and try to stop this themselves, they don't realize that...we have to go...NOW!" She said as she turned and ran out the door, Rosalie and I close on her heels wondering what she had seen and what she was keeping from us.
