Julian Lennon was born on April 8, 1963 in Liverpool, England. His birth was kept secret from the public. John Lennon didn't see his son until a week later because he was touring with The Beatles. When he first saw his son, he picked him up and said, "Who's going to be a little rocker like his dad?
Julian saw very little of his father. John was rarely home during Julian's early childhood because he was constantly touring with The Beatles. In 1966, John met a Japanese artist named Yoko Ono. In 1968, he abandoned his first family and divorced his first wife Cynthia. John and Yoko married on March 20, 1969 in Gibralter. Julian saw his father a few times between 1969 and 1971. He would spend the weekends at John's Tittenhurst Estates. In 1971, John and Yoko moved to America. Julian didn't see his father again until 1974. He played drums on Ya Ya on Walls and Bridges in 1974.
Julian last saw his father in April 1979. On December 8, 1980, John was murdered. Julian flew to New York City to be with Yoko and his half brother Sean who was 5 at the time. Julian was in the Brittish tabloids in the early 80's. He dropped out of school and went to live with drummer Ray Cooper.
In 1884, Julian released his first album Valotte which went platnum. He had a big hit with Too Late For Goodbyes. Unfortunately, he was unfairly compaired to his father by his critics. Julian recorded 3 more albums after Valotte. These were The Secret Value of Daydreaming in 1986, Mr. Jordan in 1989 and Help Yourself in 1991. However, these albums flopped. Julian was rushed back into the studio to write and record more songs with no rest. After Help Yourself, he decided to take a break from music. He dropped out of the music for 7 years. In 1998, he came back with Photograph Smile which did better. He considered it his first "real" album because he had control over his career. In 2007, he produced Whaledreamers. His latest album currently titled Everything Changes is due out early 2010.
Julian recently recorded Lucy with James Scott Cook after his childhood friend Lucy Vodden died in September from Lupus. Lucy was the inspiration for The Beatles song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Julian came home with a picture he drew of a little girl flying around. When John asked him what it was, he said, "It's Lucy in the sky with diamonds." On December 15, 2009, Julian will release his new EP Lucy. The EP will feature Lucy and a song from his upcoming cd Everything Changes called Beautiful. Supplies will be very limited so you may want to pre-order your copy.

bloopers and practical jokes
I became a fan of Julian Lennon in November 1994 after seeing photos of him when he was little on The Beatles Anthology. The first cd of his I bought was Help Yourself which I couldn't let my then fiance know I had because he was jealous of him. I decided to look Julian up on line and found two fan sites, Revolutions and Valotte. Revolutions was better than Valotte and it was more informative. I always liked Too Late For Goodbye from his cd Valotte and I love his version of Ruby Tuesday from The Wonder Years soundtrack. Unfortunately, he was a one hit wonder here in America. I heard about Valotte when I was 13 but I didn't hear about The Secret Value of Daydreaming, Mr. Jordan and Help Yourself until I became a fan. Now, I'm divorced so I can be into Julian as much as I want.
