Its written a lot like the books of chronicles(1st and 2nd) in the bible, with a touch of almost beautiful lilt, in the style of ancient historians. (you thought history is hard to understand now, try it in the 11th century) over a year ago

Has Lord of the Rings inspoired any new poetry? Posted over a year ago
Ajaxranstone commented…
Actually, the lord of the rings has inspired poetry throughout the 20th century. Most notably, is the coalition of Bilbo's songs, and Classic Mother goose rhymes, such as the old "Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle the cow jumped over the moon-thingy" (Go's by several names) which was actually created by J.R.R. Tolkien as a children's poem for a magazine. (or was it a paper?) Anyway, it was then later added into the lord of the rings, as one of old Bilbo's cheerfull old rhymes, sung by Frodo at the town of Bree, in an attempt to entertain a few patrons of the prancing pony inn. This poem was so popular it became arguably more well known then the Lord of the rings itself! If you don't believe me you should read about Tolkien a li'll more. Struth! over a year ago

This man created a whole mythology and history, compiling volumes and tomes about stuff that didn't even happen to give a back story to his language... That's dedication! over a year ago
