Hey everyone, yup, I redecorated my room... Again. I know it's happening so often these months, and I still would want to change a few things here soon, but this time the makeover was anything but wished and planned. This was a sudden necessity. But let's start from the beginning. 💚
It happened one night in the beginning of a weekend some time ago. I took an interesting book and got in my bed to read a bit before going to sleep. I turned my wall lamp and the Christmas light garland on the wall above my bed on. After reading a few pages I noticed a strong smell of burning plastic in my room and a feeling that something is dripping behind and above me. At first I thought that smell might be coming from neighbors apartment through apartment blocks ventilation system, then the light in my room suddenly became very, unnaturally bright, I thought it might be a glitch in electricity. I started to look around to see what's going on and noticed that the Christmas light garland above me is melting and drops of liquid plastic are dripping on furniture and other wall decors, I disconnected it from electricity immediately. I guess if I noticed it a minute later it would go up in flames already! When I was taking it off the wall to throw in garbage I saw that all the dark green plastic around little light bulbs has melted and bulbs turned completely black.
Afterwards I spent whole weekend trying to get plastic stains out of my furniture and decorations, they came off the table surface and wallpapers pretty easily, but I still have one on my bed that I couldn't get out (and bedsheets had to be changed) and two dreamcatchers that were hanging right under the garland have suffered (the big yellow one and the black&yellow one), I simply ripped bigger drops of plastic out of their feathers where it was possible to do without much damage, but there still are a few smaller drops and there's one big stain on the frame of huge yellow dreamcatcher, it was big and impossible to take off, so I covered it with yellow acrylic paint so it blends in with the color of dreamcatcher and becomes not so visible LOL. After light garland was taken off and moved to garbage bin, I understood that the whole wall composition doesn't look very well and balanced without it, of course I have a few more light garlands at home that are used on Christmas time and I could always buy a new one, but after the 'adventure' with the old one I decided that it's enough, no more Christmas lights, thank you.
So I guess the only plan was to completely radically change the whole walls look. After searching through Pinterest for some inspiration I found some bamboo sticks from my mum's orchid pots, took off everything from my wall, except yellow frames and started to put everything together again. I had always wanted my dreamcatchers to be in such a lovely composition, close to each other, hung on a wooden stick, and finally I achieved this decoration look. After taking off a rope of pictures I decided that it has been there for way too long and I don't want it anymore (and it didn't have space anyway after dreamcatchers were hung), so I hung up another bamboo piece under the frames and started creating a composition there, here you can see strings with pictures (my mini paintings that were originally on the rope), rosegold metal feathers with bells, chakra dreamcatchers, my little witch pentacle dreamcatcher, the black flower clip with the huge feather attached, a string of pearls and autumn leave with the little seashell in the end. I think I'll definitely keep adding different little, cute items to it with time. (I know that in some photos, the big feather and leave are already there, in some not. they were taken in different days, and I took some more pictures after finally adding leave and feather) As you can see the whole composition looks a bit witchy (or maybe it's only me who sees it), I think with every day I get deeper and deeper into those things, and not only because it's Halloween and autumn, I guess witchcraft runs in my family, I've always been into magick, psychic, divination etc. I'm studying a lot about healing, work with energies, crystals, rituals, spells. These days I think I might finally fully transform to wiccan, (I guess I have already), it's a slow process of becoming that has been going on my whole life I guess, anyway, that's another topic for another talk, I don't want to talk about it before I'm completely sure about everything myself. Also I hung my new mask up above the yellow dreamcatcher.
Also I wanted to share some more things that have nothing to do with the new redecorating. As you can see, I guess I have a new hobby - making mala meditation beads, I already had pink ones for a while, but recently I made wooden ones, and ones that are made of an old stone bracelet. Also a string I made using a set of beads that I found very special and beautiful and didn't want to use in dreamcatchers. And last but not least a few things that I haven't made myself but that have special significance to me and I wanted to share.
On October 2003 my aunt and her family visited us, I was a little baby, not even a year old and my aunt brought me a teddy bear as a gift. This month the teddy bear is celebrating its 16th birthday and I still keep it in my room after all these years. A quite recently it has become a place where I keep my vintage necklaces (mostly from my mum's teen years in 80s), here you can see some around bears neck - blue chain, little dark red beads, pearls & green beads.
Also a "crazy rat lady" plaque above the entrance of my room, when I noticed it in the clutter shop I immediately decided that it's exactly what I want to hang above my room's door LOL. Oh and my hand held fans, they are a true essential in the hot summer days, they are pretty cheap Chinese ones, yet they look lovely and I would love to put them on display someday (have to think about it). Anyway, if you're reading this, I want to hear your opinion. Take a look at the 4 yellow frames, I think I'm pretty tired of them already and I want to change something there too, they've been pretty much the same for many years and the only thing I change are pictures in them. So how do you think? What could I do there to make a bit more radical change? Tell me your ideas in the comments. 🖼️ Anyway, the very last picture is my Halloween pumpkin candle holder near the TV because IT'S HALLOWEEN ALREADY! YAY sings *this is halloween, this is halloween, pumpkins scream in the death of night* 👻☠️🎃🦇
