I would have to say that Sweeney Todd did not at any point love Mrs. Lovett like she hoped he would, which is really sad because she loved him with all of her heart and would do anything for him and the only time he payed any attention to her is when he needed help cleaning up a dead body and then he would go back to ignoring her until he needed her again.

I don't agree with you because he kind of cared about her, or he would of just killed her at the start !! He only ignored her when he didn't get to kill the ppl he wanted too kill and that made him really pissed off.

i think he just used her as like an assistant sort of thing but e never loved her, i just think he would do what she wanted to keep her with him, because he needed somewhere to get rid of the bodies, its just buisness and he had no feelings for her, he just wanted johanna and lucy

Ofcourse he didn't he was so eaten up with greif and revenge that he couldn't feel anything else.

that was the whole point of the movie to get his revenge for taking his life and wife from him he was sad and he didnt love her

►!My answer contains spoilers!◄ No. Sweeney loves Lucy and only Lucy! He liked Mrs. Lovett, because she was helpful, but that's far away from love. When Mrs. Lovett asks Sweeney if he remembers Lucy, when he says 'She had yellow hair' you can see it in his eyes: he still loves Lucy (Oh, I love all the emotions Johnny can show with his eyes!). Same scene, when Mrs. Lovett tells him that 'We could have a life, us two' Sweeney is hesitating but he just can't agree because he knows that he's unable to love her. He always ignored Mrs Lovett's feelings, that's why she ended up in the stove. :P Sorry for the long post! x)

he chucked her into the oven at the end. if he loved her he wouldn't've done that. I know he kills his wife but only coz he doesn't recognise her.

I think in his own twisted way he did deep down love her, it might not have been the normal kind of love but I think he did care for her.
