Though IU made a public apology for the controversy surrounding the song "Zeze" from her album 'CHAT-SHIRE', many still take issue with the song's lyrics and the album's themes.

One netizen in particular has started a petition calling for the abandonment of IU's song. The petition, which had 13,000 signatures by the end of 16 hours, is calling for 100,000 to sign.

The netizen wrote:

On November 6, a chart of the top female soloists of 2015 based on sales numbers was uploaded on Instiz.

Baek Ah Yeon from JYP Entertainment tops the list with “Shouldn’t Have.” She released the self-written song back in May, when it achieved a surprise hit at the top of many Korean music charts. Originally she had not intended to do any promotions for the track, but following its high rankings, she performed a few times on music programs. According to the chart, “Shouldn’t Have” achieved 1,277,626 digital download sales so far in 2015.

Right on her heels is IU, who has two songs...

On November 6, a netizen uploaded a signed petition against IU on a portal site. The goal for the petition is 100,000 signatures and the subject material concerns the recent controversy around IU’s song “Zeze.”

“IU has crossed a line by using lolita themes in her song ‘Zeze,’” the petition reads. It goes on to assert that the controversy started over the album artwork for “Chat-shire,” and that if IU had really meant to sing from a third-party perspective (not as the five-year-old Zeze), he would not have been drawn on the artwork as he was.

“You were well-intentioned but...

IU has made everybody’s wishes come true and has apologized for the controversies regarding her entire album, from allegedly being a pedophile to glorifying child sex to ripping off Britney Spears.

“Hello. This is IU. Though I knew that there were a lot of opinions about my lyrics recently, it took longer than I thought to get the nerve to speak up. I apologize for being late. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt by my lyrics.

This recent album is about what’s happened to the 23-year-old IU, and it’s filled with songs inspired by characters from novels. ‘Zeze’ is one of...

With IU‘s interpretation of her new song “Zeze” on the chopping board, Dongnyok Publishing, the publishing company for “My Sweet Orange Tree,” expressed their concern.

For some context, Zeze from the autobiographical Brazilian novel “My Sweet Orange Tree” is the character that IU based her lyrics on. Zeze is a five-year-old boy who is suffering from domestic abuse. His only solace and friend for much of the novel is Minguinho, an orange tree in his back yard that he has the ability to communicate with.

IU has said in an interview, “I wrote the lyrics about Zeze in the point of...

IU’s bonus track “Twenty-Three” from her latest album “Chat-shire” has been accused of illegally sampling from Britney Spears’ song.

The song in question is Britney Spears’ song “Gimme More” which was released in 2007. Britney Spears’ fans noticed a voice and various sounds that sound like Britney Spears in IU’s bonus track version of “Twenty-Three.”

For example, Britney’s voice saying “keep on rocking” can be heard in IU’s song. This is an issue because the song does not credit Britney Spears and it is unclear whether there was any permission given concerning...

Singer IU was ranked number seven on the list of stars who succeeded after having started from the very bottom on the November 2 episode of “The List 2015.”

So far, IU is estimated to have earned over 10 billion Korean won (approximately $8.8 million) through “Good Day,” other singles, and from TV ads. After becoming successful, she gifted her father with an expensive car that he always wanted, and she is also giving regular allowances for her family members.

IU has been crowned the winner of last week’s “Inkigayo” with her latest title track “Twenty-Three.”

The winner announcement was postponed due to the November 1 episode being a prerecorded one with no live voting, and the No.1 artist was finally announced through SBS’ homepage on November 2.

Despite not having any music show promotions for her fourth mini album “Chat-Shire,” IU managed to take home last week’s “Inkigayo” trophy with “Twenty-Three.” The song continues to top most online charts, and IU’s entire new album has been a huge commercial success.

IU has personally apologized for the controversies surrounding her latest album 'CHAT-SHIRE'. Her bonus track "23" made headlines for allegedly sampling Britney Spears's voice without permission, and quickly afterwards, IU's lyrics for the song "Zeze" received criticism for its connection to 'lolita' themes.

IU herself wrote a letter of apology. The letter is as follows:

IU′s agency has addressed the unauthorized sampling controversy surrounding the singer′s bonus track Twenty Three.

Loen Tree stated on November 3, "We confirmed that the composer purchased voice samples, one of which was used in the relevant part during the arrangement process. We will contact Britney Spears′ agency immediately in order to check the facts. We are currently in the process of checking with regards to the relevant voice sample.

IU and Suzy are both well-loved, massively popular artists that possess an undeniable appeal, particularly their amicable, next-door-girl image. It isn't a stretch to call the two of them Korea's sweethearts because, well, they have managed to bewitch the hearts of young and old alike with their cherub-like, sweet demeanors! The girls also share a similar style, so we decided to pit them against one another in a fashion match: girl-next-door edition!

The piece the two were caught wearing is a frilly and lacy nude-colored one piece. The exact hue of the dress was tricky to determine as it appears...

Heo Ji Woong has spoken seemingly in defense of IU regarding her interpretation of 'My Sweet Orange Tree' in her song "Zeze" - well, at the very least, he's spoken against those speaking against IU. She has been accused of sexualizing the five-year-old abused character, Zeze, in her suggestive lyrics.

Heo Ji Woong wrote on his Twitter on November 5, "It is wrong of a publication company to propose an extremely strict guideline in the interpretation of literature. Interpretation of all literature can be rediscovered moment to moment through one's own will and capability. Zeze would not agree with the publication company."

What are your thoughts? The debate is heating up...

Earlier today, I explained that it seems like a lot of the netizen complaints about IU‘s supposed plagiarism controversy were just plain confused about the difference between her title track, “Twenty-Three“, and the track accused of plagiarism, “23“, from ‘The Producers‘ OST.

Perhaps, I thought, eventually calmer heads would prevail as netizens realized they were confused and this would sort of go away eventually.
