Fans of IU are accustomed to seeing her act upbeat, adorable, and quirky in her singing and acting roles, but in her highly anticipated new drama Producer, IU says they will see a side of her they have never seen before.

When asked about how things are going on the set of Producer, IU said, “It’s really an honor. For one, the script is really entertaining, and it’s exciting to be able to work with such accomplished people [Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jong Kook]. We are currently filming well. I think I will be able to show a new side of myself that I haven’t in the dramas I’ve done so far.”

IU will be playing a cold and cynical celebrity who is known as an ice queen. Her character became hardened after having grown up in the entertainment industry and witnessing how people can be shallow and disloyal.

As someone who fell in love with IU's naive and pure-hearted character in Pretty Man, I am really interested in seeing her play a character who is the exact opposite. Are you excited to see IU in this new role?

Producer premieres May 8 exclusively on DramaFever! You can sign up for new episode alerts HERE! In the meantime, check out Dream High, where she previously costarred with Kim Soo Hyun.

The teaser video for the first episode of KBS drama “Producer” has been released!

In the preview, which was dropped on May 8, main cast Kim Soo Hyun, Cha Tae Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, and IU all appear, giving viewers a good idea of the personalities of their respective characters despite the short length of the video.

Kim Soo Hyun is clumsy new hire PD Baek Seung Chan who is a bundle of mistakes as he learns the ropes at work while Cha Tae Hyun is a seasoned “1 Night 2 Days” PD with a quirky, if not moody, personality.

Gong Hyo Jin plays no-nonsense PD Tak Ye Jin of “Music Bank” who is known for being hard to please but seems to have met her match in IU who plays stony-faced singer Cindy.

Needless to say, this new preview is only upping the anticipation for this star-studded drama. “Producer” is slated to begin airing on May 15 at 9:15 p.m. (KST).
