CSK’S IN IPL 1 & 2

Csk entered the finals of the first editon – but lost by just the last ball against the Rajasthan Royals.

Csk lost to Royal Challengers by 6 wickets in the semi-final of the second edition.

CSK’S FABULOUS RUN IN 2010

CSK’s run in IPL 3

Lost against Deccan chargers twice
Won against Knight riders twice
Won and Lost the matches with the rest of the teams

On the whole, CSK won 7 and lost 7 at the end (excluding the knock-out-stage matches)and finished up third in the points table.

In their first match against Punjab Kings XI, CSK lost to them by the super over. But CSK took good revenge by beating them at Dharamshala. It was a do or die match where CSK desperately need to win whereas the best that Punjab could do was to spoil their party.

It was a splendid match were the Kings XI, batting first got 199 runs and CSK batted equally good but at a point they were left hanging of the edge when 10 runs were need of just 6 balls. MS Dhoni then hit two massive sixes off Irfan pathan to seal a spot in the semi finals against the Deccan chargers. Man of the mathc – MS Dhoni (54*)

The semi-finals was more dramatic as the Chennai super kings manged to put just 120 odd runs on the board. But Doug Bollinger with his splendid performance of 13runs /4 wickets with the ball made sure that CSK met Mumbai Indians in the final of IPL 3. He was adjudged Man of the match.

The historic Finals of IPL 3 took place at Mumbai. Batting first, CSK posted 160 odd runs on board – thanks to Suresh Raina (57* - 32 balls) and Zaheer, Abishek and Fernando who gave hijm re-life by missing his catches. Mumbai Indians struggled in the very beginning due to the early loss of Abishek Nayar. The wickets of Sachin,Duminy and Tiwary came down as a hard blow too. Pollard entered and at once the atmosphere became tense as he smashed Bollinger around for 4’s and 6’s. But Albie Morkel made sure that he sent back Pollard to the pavillion and with him he sent back the chances of Mumbai winning too. And Chennai super kings finally took home the trophy after a splendid run in the IPL 3.

CSK in Champions league T20

On account of emerging as the Champions of the 2010 Indian Premier League, the Super Kings along with the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers made it to the 2010 Champions League Twenty20 that was held in South Africa.
They topped Group A with 6 points (3 Wins and 1 Loss due to super-over.) to qualify for the semi-finals where they had to face Royal Challengers at Kingsmead, Durban. After a comprehensive victory of 52 runs by (D/L) method against the Challengers,] The Super Kings played their first CLT20 final at Johannesburg.
