Kikyo has been resurrected by Urasue and is watching Kagome and Inuyasha in front of the group, traveling as usual. During the night, after they've set up camp, Everyone but Inuyasha is sleeping. Kikyo sees this and takes advantage of the situation, silently calling him into the forest. But Kagome being Kagome, she gets up and silently follows the two. But she was mistaken. For Kikyo had gone way ahead of Inuyasha and was alone knowing Kagome was there, and managed to tie her to a tree with her soul collectors, causing the tree and Kagome to disappear, and Inuyasha wouldn't be able to hear her either. *you all know what happens* After the whole event, Kikyo and Inuyasha have been meeting up secretly for a while, and Kagome was tired of it. So one day, on the very day she promised to sing for everyone, she sang something that she knew Inuyasha would understand.

A day later when the group was heading off, Kikyo stood in their path, her sights set on Inuyasha. And he very well knew this. As a response to Kikyo, he took Kagome's hand in his. Kikyo's eyes were wide for a split second, and then she narrowed her eyes at Kagome, scoffed and said, "I can do better anyway. You can have Inuyasha." As she said those words, she faded from sight, along with her souls collectors. Kagome then broke the silence with a simple, "I win". And Inuyasha replied, "Yes, you did". They kissed and walked off hand in hand.
