And each group controlled a different element and area.
So it'd be like, Leprechauns would control the underground earth, Fairies would control the air, Gnomes would control the mines, Werewolves would control the mountains, Nymphs would control the forest, the Vampires would control the night, and such on.
So, the species could be dying from lack of other resources and adapting, and there's certain children from the species that begin to interact with each other secretly- as they can be killed for being caught- to begin saving their family.
