This is a fanfic on what happens to Eragon after he leaves Alegasia.

A disturbance hammered against Eragon from the battlements. He glanced up from where he was instructing a young dragon in the art of meditation. The young dragon glanced up too.

"There must be something wrong Ebrithil."

"Continue in your meditations Mandin and if you try really hard you might be able to sense what's happening. I will go and find whatever it is."

"As you say Ebrithil but it is my concern that Yala is there and the other young Rider the Urgal Treghon. Will they be in danger?"

"Whatever it is it doesn't mean us harm for my wards would have slain it."

Eragon got up and walked through the large corridors of his halls. This was the part that had been built with younger Riders in mind as the corridors would only just accommodate Sapphira's girth. He heard running feet and then a small girl came running around the corner and launched herself into his arms.

"Father!"

"Laina?"

"Yes Father. Mother sent us to you to complete our training."

"Us? Are you a Rider?"

"Yes Father. We spent two years learning from Mother and Firnen. Lilia hatched for me two years ago. To get here we had to travel with..."

" Laina you're only eight. How could your dragon have hatched for you if you were six? Even by human customs you would have to be ten before you were allowed to touch an egg. By the customs of the elves, with whom you have been living might i add, you must be twenty. How did this come to pass?"

" Well Father it was kind of an accident. I was exploring Tildari Hall where me and Mother live and i found the place where mother keeps the dragon egg. I touched it and Lilia hatched."

"What color is she?"

"She's pink. Not dark pink but light pink, she's not as red as Thorn but close to it when it's dark...."

"How do you know what color Thorn is?"

"We traveled here with him and Uncle Murtagh. We also brought Cousin Ismira along and her dragon Zarala. Cousin Thirnan insisted on coming along even though he hadn't received any more than a year of training. I think his dragon Gorin had something to do with it. Uncle Murtagh made us all ride on Thorn in case we fell off into the sea. It wasn't fair i'm the better Rider but Mother made me do as i was told "

"Blast! Are all my family Riders?"

"No Father. Uncle Roran and Aunt Katrina aren't."

"Well that's something at least. Well I won't be lonely for family anytime soon. Come on. Let's go meet with the others."

He hefted her up onto his hip and began loping through the castle towards the battlements. He felt it in his mind the instant Sapphira returned from her hunting trip with Lorkin, Treghon's dragon. He sent his thought out to her.

"Sapphira, my daughter is a Rider as is Ismira. I don't believe you ever met Thirnan but his father is also Roran. Three of the five eggs we sent to Alegasia have hatched and come here."

"That is good news indeed. I feel Roran and Katrina will be lonely but i think they will bear it well for they will of course have had more broodlings by now."

"We are not all dragons you know."

"Believe me i know little one."

"Humph"

Eragon broke out into the sunlight. He charged across the grass towards Murtagh and at the last second put his daughter down and grabbed Murtagh in a bone breaking hug.

"You returned."

"I returned some years ago brother. Nasuada saw fit to put me to work before telling me of your location. My last job from her was escorting these lot."

"How is she?"

"She and our son are fine. I expect she's keeping him away from the eggs like the plague though. As much as she loves him she doesn't want another Galbatorix."

"I see. I heard how you made them ride on Thorn the entire way here."

"Yes your munchkin hasn't stopped complaining since she first got on Thorn's back and only stopped when she got off him."

Laughing they began to discuss what life was like over the cold sea that separated Eragon from his birth-land.
