“Lisa!” David called out when she breezed by him, sobbing lightly.
This wasn’t fair to the rest of the cast, but she couldn’t take it anymore. She grabbed her things from the dressing room and left the building, dressed like Dr. Cuddy. She didn’t think to change back into her original clothes. She just knew she had to get out of there.
Little did Lisa know that once she got outside to her car, the paparazzi would be hiding nearby, taking pictures of her in tears. She sat in her car for a moment, just sobbing in her hands. She felt so weak. Since when did she get so frail and pathetic? All this just because she loved Hugh and now stood no chance with him.
Her cell phone started ringing immediately. She knew who it was. There was no reason to check. Instead, she started her car and left. She couldn’t face that anymore. At least not today.
She drove home, still in tears. When she got there, she immediately locked herself away and pulled out a chilled bottle of vodka that was in her fridge. She’s always told people she didn’t drink. The entire world figures that her party girl persona had died away a long time ago. The truth was—she drank, especially on days like today. A bottle of vodka completely took away her problems.
Lisa was known to be intelligent. She wasn’t as smart as her rocket scientist sister, but she knew right from wrong. Picking up and holding this bottle before her was wrong. If she knew of some other way to take pain away, she would do that instead.
Lisa’s world fell down around her. She hungered for the bottle of vodka she struggled to quickly unfasten like a raging alcoholic. When she finally did get the top open, she wasted no time in downing her first gulp. She tensed up as she felt the liquid burn on its way down. The first mouthful usually did that to her. The rest of the time she was fine.
She spent the next fifteen minutes indulging on the vodka, gulp after gulp, slowly heading towards making herself feel better. However, when she was a little more than half way done, she didn’t feel any better, but did start to get drunk.
“You’re so pathetic, Lisa,” she whispered, looking at the grey goose label through intermediate blurry vision. “No wonder Hugh doesn’t love you.”
The word ‘failure’ kept pounding in her mind. It didn’t help that she could also feel her temples throbbing. Lisa didn’t drink often, only when she was stressed. She had a lot to be stressed about. Not only did she walk off set during a deadline, but things weren’t going good for her in general. At least that’s what her mind keeps telling her as she downs the rest of the grey goose and discards the bottle in the trash. Aside from the heavy activity stirring up in her stomach, Lisa started to feel better. Feeling nauseous, lightheaded, and her blood pulsing through her veins was step one to taking her mind off what was bothering her. Even this was only temporary relief, it worked for her.
“I don’t need Hugh,” she said aloud, attempting to smile. “I don’t need him at all. In fact, I should march right back there and tell that to his face. I’m okay to drive. I’m not drunk, after all.”
Lisa scrambled for her keys with blurry vision. She had to keep blinking her eyes in order to see clearly. Of course, she didn’t blame it on the vodka; she blamed it on her contact lenses.
She grabbed her purse, slipped her shoes on clumsily, and walked out to her car, nearly stumbling over her own two feet. But still, she didn’t consider herself drunk, or in the vicinity of drunk.
Everything was just fine and dandy. She didn’t have a problem in the world. She was heading back to the studio to tell Hugh to go shove it. Yes, that was the plan. She wasn’t going to be thrown around like that! No way!
Her vision was blurry and her mind was cloudy, but nonetheless, she was able to get back to the studio, avoiding collisions and a possible DUI charge. Good thing the cops were out patrolling yet! This wasn't exactly the smartest thing Lisa had ever done and her boss wasn't going to be happy with this either.
