I didn't know it when I first saw the episode, but I seeing it somewhere as a trivia question (probably on Facebook). It's really pretty sounding. :-]

He didn't write it. The song is called Spirit in the Sky and its been around for years. It was written and composed by Norman Greenbaum. You can even look it up on the music records of House episodes.
