Intro:
She is the Dean of Medicine at a teaching hospital, she is well paid, she is beautiful, yet, she ruins nearly every relationship she’s ever had. She is Doctor Lisa Cuddy.
He is an ass, he is the head of the Diagnostics department at her hospital, he is antisocial, he is a legend and she is in love with him.
Both too stubborn to admit their feelings for each other, however, the flirtatious banter between them says otherwise, sparking up hot rumours around the hospital which they have been denying fo years.
The Case:
She stares at the dark coloured folder for a while before scanning through its contents; 15 year old girl, bruising, nausea, reactions to light and joint pain. She thinks for a second-meningicoccus. She sends the folder off to diagnostics to get it double checked (if not then it’s a new case for House) and sits at her desk staring out to the clinic. At that point, House limps by, stares in the window, presses his face to it, pulls a face, smiles and then limps off. She sat there watching him the whole time, trying so hard not to pick up the empty coffee mug off her desk and throw it in his direction.
Back in his office, the folder sits on his desk just before he gets in. House felt proud of himself for accomplishing such a childish feat. He picks up the folder, scans through it and pages his team. One by one, Thirteen, Foreman and Taub arrive in the lecture room outside House’s office. In the time it had taken them to reach their destination, House had photocopied three copies of the folder and placed them on the table ready for the ducklings.
“Fifteen year old, bruising to her body, nausea, photophobia and joint pain, since being in hospital she’s passed out three times,” House explained.
The team looked at each other before Foreman got up and marched out of the room, sensing that it would be a simple case to solve.
“It must be meningicoccus, the symptoms tell us this,” Thirteen said.
“Yes, but it doesn’t explain why she’s been passing out,” Taub interrupted.
“Exactly,” agreed House, “Go run some tests, confirm it’s not meningicoccus and then try find out what it is,”
In the mean time, House sat at his desk with his over-sized tennis ball, throwing it at the wall.
“House?” came a familiar voice, “We need to talk,”
“About what?”
“About us, what’s going on?”
“Look, this isn’t a good time; I’m working on a case,”
“You’re avoiding talking about the other night,”
“What!? We slept together, big deal!”
“You’ve been acting really strange since then,”
“You wanna know why, Cuddy?”
“Um-yes…”
But before the pair could get into their juicy details, the team came back telling House that the tests for meningicoccus had tested negative.
