Classic Lovecraft short story retold.
Classic Lovecraft short story retold.
Back in 1920 H.P. Lovecraft published a short story entitled "The Doom That Came to Sarnath." It was one of his "dream cycle" stories, of events that took place 10,000 years ago.

Here's the basic idea: the city of Sarnath sits on the shore of an inland lake, the "still lake," HPL calls it, founded by settlers who had moved westward from a number of other olden realms with names like Kadatheron, Ilarnek, Thraa.

Also on the lake, however, is the ancient city called Ib, "peopled by beings not pleasing to behold," HPL also tells us. The men of Sarnath grow to despise these beings, and one day,...

Ever wondered what Lovecraft's Mythos would look like up close and personal? Well we are bringing it to life on the London stage in a new play:

Drowning Rock

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over InnsmouthOn the desolate lighthouse at Drowning Rock James Hawker discovers the fate of his father in those dark, shipwrecked waters, and the terrifying secrets waiting beneath the waves.

To find out more about the show and to support the production (and so take advantage of CoC inspired rewards like Deep One T-Shirts, blood stained Mythos tomes, or your very own elder god idol) go to:

This morning I had the opportunity to view some advance footage from the upcoming Australian survival thriller Sanctum, produced by James Cameron and due out in theaters next month in IMAX 3D (I'll post my reaction to this footage later today). Cameron of course is a fellow who knows a thing or two about the format, as well as all kinds of genre filmmaking. So after Cameron and Sanctum's director Alister Grierson spoke with me and a group of other journalists about the film, I made sure to chat with Cameron about his plans for another epic, one that's especially near and dear to our hearts...

Here is a first look at actress Cassie Mosher as a mid-transformation deep one, from the upcoming Lovecraftian short film: TRANSCENDENT. The film is being directed by Lovecraftian film composer, Mars Homeworld (Nyarlathotep, LOVECRAFT: Fear Of The Unknown, Eye See Food, Shadows Of Time) and features actresses Cassie Mosher as "Mary Celeste Marsh", and Teal Sherer(Who portrays "Venom" on the hit web series THE GUILD) as "Mother Hydra"
H.P. Lovecraft fans in the Chi-town area will be thrilled to hear about this unique new event. DreamLogic, a live entertainment performance group, is presenting Elder Gods, a promenade-style performance (the audience and the players share the stage…kooky!) of a tale inspired by Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness through March 3rd.

Below we have the trailer for the Elder Gods performance, featuring Patricia Lomden and Tyler Pistorius. Videography and editing were done by Pistorius as well. We've got to imagine this is a crazy experience that the more adventurous among you out there would...

Greetings to all the fans of H.P. Lovecraft. I won't take up too much of your time, I wanted to share something with you that's been on my heart for a long time now. I used to publish a magazine called Dagger of the Mind. While it was fun, it was also a challenge. Long story short, I decided to cease publication for numerous reasons. Before I ceasing publication, I received a Cthulhu Mythos story with a new slant on it. That story, though I didn't publish it, left an impression on me which still lingers to this day. Even as a Christian I did't really think that there was a way to incorporate...

Did you manage to get your hands on a copy of the August issue of Providence Monthly?

It contains a piece on H. P. Lovecraft in "The Last Detail" section on the back page; and it includes one of my H.P.L. headstone photos from my Flickr collections at: link .

I've just confirmed by a quick call to the Providence Online office in Providence, that they did give me a photo credit; but I have not received a copy of the issue yet. It's "in the mail."

In early July, I began promoting the idea for an August piece on "120 Years of H.P. Lovecraft and Providence" to a large number of newspapers and magazines,...

Greetings from Fullerton, California!

I'm still fleshing out the descriptions, notes, tags, and more, but I have added the following Lovecraftian collections to my Flickr Collections page at:

"Eldritch Leanings: A Lovecraft Fanzine". I wanted to get these issues from 1976, 77, 78, and 79, with their articles, comments, letters, and photos (including the color versions for the very first time) up on Flickr before I begin posting the Authors/Letters/Photos Collection that will contain material that references Eldritch Leanings, or that illustrates people mentioned in Eldritch Leanings.

"The...

The Number Two Expectation:
There is a very good chance that the August issue of Providence Monthly will contain something of interest to all Lovecraftians. I have been promoting the idea for an August piece on "120 Years of H.P. Lovecraft and Providence;" and I have reason to believe that Providence Monthly is going to do something related to what I have suggested. Get your hands on a copy of the issue, and check out the back page, "The Last Detail" to see what shows up. Watch for a headstone shot that might look familiar to those who've looked through my Swan Point Cemetery photos. The Providence...

To a Group of Lovecraftian Friends:

Greetings from Fullerton, California!

If you liked my original Flickr collection of over 800 photos I unveiled last year, "Lovecraft’s Providence, From A Different Angle: Providence & Beyond at the Time of HPL’s Centennial, 1990," but were put off by the photos being in their original chronological shooting order, instead of by location order, then the new collection linked below may become the only way you ever look at the same photos again!

Providence, Rhode Island: The Streets - A street by street guide to the photos in "Lovecraft's Providence,...
