My interpretation of that first bit:

He loves her and he wants to start over. Maybe if they go back to the way they were before they started dating, then he can do the courting/relationship thing properly.

OR NOT

Maybe he is just sick of hurting and being unhappy. So if she does not want him she needs to let him be. He is taking back the stick she has been beating him with!!

Honestly I am sick of it too. Either she needs to love him or stay away!

Supposed that does not matter now that LE wont be back.
