I'm new here and this seemed to be the best way to introduce myself... I've been very busy in the fanfiction department and my mind created this idea about where things could go after Wilson says he's going to resign: (the PI is absent, I want to use this as a plot for a What If fanfic and it does fit the facts except for the PI)

I've always wanted to see what would happen if House turns in to the patient with the mystery illness... An illness that would render his brain useless and leave him unable to diagnose himself would definitely be a way to finally choose between the old team and the new team because House has taught both teams to think his way and without his compass to guide them, the team that he's taught best will rise up and solve the puzzle. I myself am leaning towards the old team because they've become a lot more independent since they're not the official team anymore and wouldn't need House to lead their way as much as the other team (that would just reinforce my belief that everything House does however pointless in the moment, serves a purpose in the end) and, as beautifully shown in one of the last scenes of House's Head, all of them do care about him(even Foreman looked scared!). So emotions would run high and underneath that would be the undeniable element of competition (if only in honor of House and his Rubix complex) that would make a great storyline in my eyes because it combines the medical aspect of the show with the emotional one in a way that keeps them even...

Cuddy wouldn't know wether Wilson would want to know about it or not since he and House are not exactly friends anymore and the overwhelming task of being House's guardian angel has fallen onto her shoulders and she doesn't want Wilson to compromise things since that's hard enough as it is... so she doesn't tell him.

Wilson drops by to pick up the rest of his stuff (maybe some trinkets given to him by long gone patients that he promised to keep, to show that he's still Wilson) and he sees House there, sick, possibly dying, unresponsive or delirious... so he goes to Cuddy, asks her why she didn't tell him, she gives her explanation and Wilson's purely instinctive, impulsive response would still be "My best friend is dying!" since that's what House has been for years and years and it's just embedded in his mind that way... it pushes him back in-character and Cuddy let's go of the task she knows isn't meant for her with a new-found respect for Wilson and the role he has taken on in House's life. (she has her own task now: she can be House's lover and offer him affection in a way that's less exhausting.)
Wilson gets re-hired but Cuddy gets him some extra days off because she realises that he
does need to get out for awhile after House is saved. (she hopes, of course, that that will be the case)

Wilson sits next to House's bed: he wasn't there for the infarction, or the shooting or the knife-incident but if you put him there this time then he can see that House isn't a monster at all... he's just a guy. He looks weak and frail and as human as he's ever done and upon seeing this, Wilson is back. He will be the friend again... House's family history proves to be fake (remember one day, one room?) and when in a clear moment House overhears the team (any team) talking about calling his parents, he panicks... makes them promise not to call his parents and says that it really doesn't matter.
They insist that there might be clues inside the history and send Wilson in to get it out of House... House resists, says that he can't figure it out and that he will eventually, without the history... upon further prying on Wilson part, he says: "If I tell you, I'll never be able to look at you again." and Wilson can live with that. "look, I don't want you to see me die, okay? you don't deserve that...go away." House tries, and he does mean it. Wilson counters that he's trying to avoid that. So House starts to tell, slowly and painfully, about his father and the abuse he had endured when he was a child. Wilson is there, patient, supporting...glad House still trusts him. "I can tell you now," House says. "because I expect to die really soon."

in the time that it takes to relay the history, a member of the old team cracks the case and all of them joyfully deliver the news to House... who sighs. Only Wilson understands... pain is House's past, his present and it will be his future... that does deserve a drink.(this whole thing started with House getting drunk) He understands. And all that he's learned he keeps as his own portion of House burden: he sits by House's bedside that night, trying to convince him that there are reasons to live, if only chinese food, beer, and movies... House promises to try. House's new team decides they'd be of better use elsewhere and we continue with the old cast.

Hugh and Robert are great together and David Shore wouldn't waste the chemistry between them any longer than he absolutely has to because it really works! I wrote this article because this plot puts the others in the spotlights and at the same time makes it impossible to forget about House... it's really hard to let 9 different actors shine when you only have 40 minutes to pull it off... they mostly support Hugh and then take turns but with this plot... well, House is the one thing they all have in common so there's something in it for everyone and there would still be one solid storyline without all the criss-cross dialouges it usually takes(like in soaps), House would just take something of a backseat without being neglected or overlooked (like that would ever happen) and that could end up to be refreshing: House would still be in the spotlights, but without the usual screentime: can't hurt for one single two-parter because no one will ever deny that he plays a key-role in the succes of the show and Hugh has had many roles where he was a lot more subtle than House (not that that's very difficult) and still got your attention so he doesn't have to be in the spotlights to shine. House is the hero after all, no one could possibly forget about him... and House without Wilson would end up dead somewhere in the 5th episode of the season so they have to become friends again one way or another... and maybe (BIG MAYBE) Foreman's constant drive to prove himself to House will ACTUALLY make him somewhat interesting this time. (don't get me wrong, I love Omar Epps and I think he's a great actor but Foreman just so happens to be boring)
and there is definitely more in store for House & Cuddy and this would just be a great way to make that transition from the occasional flirt to an actual relationship...

I do think this would work as an episode (two-parter, season finale to keep everyone on the edge of their seats) but they'd never do something like this in the beginning of a season so I'm keeping it as my own plot... tell me what you think and I'm on fanfiction.net under the name My Confident Tomorrow in case you're interested in my other stories.

House fans, do NOT give up because it is NOT over. Lisa Edelstein may have issued a statement, but TPTB at House and the executives at Fox Broadcasting and NBC Universal have not commented on or confirmed her departure. Though we don't know the details of her exit, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we emphasize a mistake has been made and pressure Fox/NBCU to renegotiate. What matters is that Lisa said she was "disappointed," and leading up to the renewal of the show itself she was quoted (by Ausiello) as looking forward to season 8. Just because she's leaving doesn't mean she wants to...

House Season 1 Episode 21: Three Stories

Full Recap

House has agreed to substitute for a sick teacher in exchange for a couple of hours off of clinic duty. Since, as Cuddy points out, House would rather hear himself talk than listen to patients, this trade was really a done deal from the moment Cuddy suggested it. House tries to talk it up to four hours off clinic duty, but Cuddy knows him too well.
As House leaves, he meets his ex-girlfriend Stacy, who wants him to examine her new husband who is having unidentified medical problems. House is reluctant to take on the case and admits he isn't sure...
