Episode 5: Responses

Monitors drone out the sound of soft breathing. It was a steady beeping that bounced knowingly off the think walls. A knock from the door startled a man lying aboard a hospital gurney, causing the beeping to increase mildly. “Carter?” Sleepily, Carter rubbed his eyes with his left hand, leaving the other stretched straight out to his side. Protruding from it, two IV lines ran the length of his forearm and to a single pump, held upon a stainless steel pole, complete with four wheels that ran along its slender frame. The screen read:

RPM: 0.42 mL
193/81(117)mmHg

There were two other lines below, the first of which delved up and down in a wave form along with the rate of the beeping. It was red in color and read the abbreviation, ART, next to this continues strip. Numbers constantly flipped on the read, the first of which, systolic, bouncing in the 180’s, and the second, diastolic, jumping in the 80’s. Below the ART line, another wave form countered. This one was too, continual, but was blue in color and stated the figure, 92% 4L.

“Hey Archie.” His words were elongated slightly. Archie’s eyes were kind and honest as they cut into Carters. “Look….” Morris broke the contact with Carter. “It was…there was…a lot of debris…and smoke…and…and well…” The words didn’t want to escape Archie’s mouth. “They recovered his body…we…” He hesitated again. “We just took Cuddy down there.” Carters expression was blank, he was still staring where he had just moments before been looking at Dr. Morris. Seconds passed without a sound and Archie turned in this place to leave. His arm was held aloft. Carter now had a strong grip on his arm and was half reaching out of his bed, still keeping his right arm perfectly straight. “Morris.” Archie turned back around to meet Carters eyes. He could tell they were forming with tears, as were his own. He took Carter’s hand and lowered himself to the bed.

Suddenly, a noise resounded across in the hallway, it was loud and harsh and broke against the two men’s ears. A light just outside the window of the room lit the whole vicinity a bright blue color as a voice spoke above from an intercom.

Code Blue, Morgue. Code Blue, Morgue. Code Blue, Morgue

It was standard for a Code to be repeated three times aloud, and this time was no exception. The microphone gave a final split and the hall was quiet again. Archie was gone before Carter could wrap his mind around what had just happened. His eyes closed against the still flashing blue light, and he let his mind wander.

It was bright in the hot air. White clouds fluttered against deep cyan colored sky, flickering and weaving across the suns rays. Bits of pollen floated across perfectly reflected lake water, just as placid as ever. Gentle waves rolled back and forth against the rock and dirt ruffs on a vegetative filled bank. With each splash, more allergens took rive, releasing from their poitent hosts and joining the scene above the lake. The smell of barbeque joined forces with the pollen, floating and dancing through the air with ease and spontaneity. Bubbles could be seen sneaking up through the water, wanting the break the surface and enjoy the potent array of flavors. Laughs and giggles rang the smoke around the clearing. Shots of water flew from a neon yellow squirt gun onto an unsuspecting figure. Another laugh sounded. “Greg!” Her voice cracked as she struggled to speak through her smile. “Greggg.” She gave a pathetic scream. Her dark hair was pulled back into a pony tail along the base of her neck. The wrap was black in color and had stretched quite nicely around the auburn hair. Strands fell and shaped her face, from her forehead and down along her cheeks. Her eyes hid under a pair of white framed sunglasses, eyeing her assailant. Her tanned skin sparkled against the sunlight, soaking into her bare back, stomach and neck. She had on the top of a two piece swim suit. It was brown, had light crème colored flowers, and shaped her chest well. Falling along the lines of her figure, the elastic formed in a circle, entrapping her sternum. The back was tied neatly against her shoulder blades and the hairline of her neck. In contrast, her blue jean capris cast odd shadows against the topical setting. They were frayed at the end and slightly rolled along her calves. She ran, still laughing, letting her bare feet beat the cool daytime grass. Water bounced against her body, soaking into the deep jean material of her pants. The man had caught up to her, himself running his feet against the shades of green. He had managed to wrap his arms around her waist. They swayed in place as he led his lips to her neck, tracing her smooth skin. She shivered.

His arms were strong under the beating of her heart. His fingers circled her belly button and ran along her hips, turning them toward his own. He had on a set of khakis, complete with cargo pockets that lay open and obtuse along each side of his thighs. A Hawaiian themed shirt sat unbuttoned against the tone of his muscles. The open shirt, normally flapping wildly in the wind rested, pressed tightly against the woman’s back.

Only milliseconds passed around the pair. Stacy broke his grip on her body and jumped to the ground, aiming for the water gun. He tuned, ready to dart away as she rose, pulling the trigger. Water squirted out and onto his back, letting his shirt stick slightly against his skin. He ran with all of his energy towards a clearing, Stacy followed, spraying him the whole way. “Alright guys, come‘on.” A mans voice stopped the two from running. “Foods ready.” Wilson smiled at the duo. Stacy had caught up to House, and, putting her arm around him, panted. House cocked his eyes and his gaze found the bright yellow water gun still squeezed in Stacy’s hand. “Carter, hey.” House whispered as he grabbed the gun and tossed it across a green picnic table. Carter caught it and turned it toward Stacy, pulling the trigger. She reacted instantly, moving her head. “HA! Looks like your aim needs some work, John.” At this statement, House winked toward Carter, gesturing him for another attack. Carter followed the request. This time, the water hit Stacy square in the face, forming droplets on her glasses. She sighed and walked away, leaving the two friends high fiving each other across the table.

Opening up to a flashing blue light, Carter searched the hallway. Nothing. This was an abnormal occurrence for a Code Blue. Usually, chaos would ensue time, moving wreckage of gauze and IV lines across the floor, but the hall was quiet, and clean.

“Morgue. A Code in the Morgue. Now there was a concept,” Thought Carter. He lowered his head back against the uncomfortable hospital pillow and shut his eyes. A second later, yells and cries of crashing doors forced his eyes back open. The hall now contained hording people, centrally located around a moving gurney. Carter’s mind rushed with thoughts and indecisiveness, but his straightened right arm had begun to ache and burn. A second later, unable to fight the urge, Carter closed his eyes, and his mind, leaving the blue flashing light to vanish, replaced by complete darkness.

The hours passed without knowledge. Outside, the sky had darkened and the sound of creaking windows noted a looming storm. A distant voice sounded, floating through the air, getting louder with every passing second. “…ouse…” “…house…HOUSE”

A pair of deep blue eyes opened to a familiar hospital room. He turned his head slowly, blinking again and again, trying to focus the blurred vision before him. A man lay opposite him on another gurney, his right arm outstretched with IV’s running from them. House smiled.

“Carter.”

"My dad wants to meet you for Christmas dinner." Remy said as she handed James a mug of hot cocoa.
"He does? That is...understandable." He said with a nervous twitch. Remy smiled and sank down next to him on the sofa.
"My dad is actually very laid back about my significant others. He'll adore you. I mean, who couldn't?" She declared before placing a chaste kiss on his cheek. He grinned and took a sip of his drink.
"I haven't met a girlfriend's father in a long time...What does your dad like?"
"He is in to movies and reality shows. He isn't in to sports. So, wooing him with basketball tickets...

The Supermarket Savior

He stood in the produce aisle, grappling at a rather large erroneous looking tomato, his eyes fixated across the room where a brunette woman paused, handling her own set of vegetables. Wrapping his tomato in a plastic bag, he twisted a tie around the top and placed the tarnished red food inside his cart. Again he eyed the woman. She had finished her comparison of two sets of Kale greens...

Chapter 1: Enough is Never Enough
Disclaimer: I do not own any characters of House M.D. All characters/thematic concepts are owned by David Shore and Co.

The distinct sound of wood courting hardwood resonated throughout House’s once-empty, recluse apartment, the hollow bachelor’s pad that had served as his proscenium stage and knew him all too well. The stage that had tacitly reciprocated a promise: to never leave. Unlike Stacey, his indigenous thigh muscle, and his once “less miserable” outlook on life, his apartment had never negated or forsaken him. In fact, if his apartment walls...

House was led up forward by an impatient Lisa Cuddy. The sum was slowly decending out of the sky and Cuddy lay herself down on the warm deck of the yacht. House popped 3 Vicodin and waited for a few minutes for the desired effect before he lowered himself over his lover. She looked at him with passion and lust in her eyes. House felt her wrap her legs around his hips, tugging him closer. He allowed his hands to wander over her body before wrapping his arms around her back commence in untying her bikini. She gasped...

Neither House or Cuddy knew what Wilson had planned and as they packed their bags, they'd never thought of the idea of Wilson setting them up. Cuddy had, had a suspicion but it didn't really bother her because House said 'My leg is too sore to go to work for two weeks and that he could diagnose from his apartment.'
House had popped two Vicodin before settling in for yet another 'I'm an insomniac so I'll wake up in the middle of the night' routine.
Cuddy, however, had already put herself to bed and was asleep. She had called her mum to come and babysit Rachel whilst she was on her 'business...

The paramedics had come, along with Princeton PD, and the state troopers, which pronounced it was an over dose. Once they had left, paramedics placed his body in a zip-up bag, and carried him onto the stretcher. They wheeled him out of the office, with Cuddy right beside of the him. She was not crying, much to her surprise. It wasn't like she was happy, she was the farthest thing from it. Her fingers met the cold button, pressing harder than she needed to. After several seconds of waiting, the elevator doors opened, she and the paramedics, pushed him inside the empty elevator. As they got in,...

Hey, sorry it took so long. I had some schoolwork to complete. For those of you who have been wondering this story will eventually be Huddy, but not for a while. But I promise it will happen. As always please comment =)

Words could not describe how much clinic duty pissed Sarah off. She couldn’t imagine how it was possible to gather so many idiots in the same place yet everyday it happened. Just one intelligent or non-annoying clinic patient would be a freaking miracle. Oh well, it was over with for today. Maybe she would get a case. She had just finished her last three this morning. Normally...

Drip, drop, drip, drop. You could hear the precipitation as it slowly began to rain. Drip after drop the rain fell harder and faster as it hit every roof and window. A rather young girl, in a brown over coat covering her head, stood outside a rather large building.
She hesitantly took a step towards the building, debating whether or not to get any closer, watching as people moved from here to there and from there to here. She swallowed hard and went with her gut. Then slowly, yet surely, she pushed through the see through doors and entered the building.
She started looking around for someone...

For the week of September 29 - October 5, Fox’s Fall 18-49 demo king House had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 3.583 million viewers via DVRs. NBC’s Heroes was second with a DVR viewing audience of 2.903 million. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were Desperate Housewives, Fringe, NCIS, Survivor:Gabon, Bones, Criminal Minds, Two and A Half Men and CSI:Miami.

The CW’s 90210 had the top show for percentage increase over their Live audience increasing 41.1% in Live+7 viewing. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were Heroes, House, Privileged, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe, Prison Break, Gossip Girl and America’s Top Model.

Although we know now that DVR viewing past the airdate is entirely meaningless to the show’s advertising revenue and likely its ultimate success, we like seeing the trends regardless

After getting over the initial shock of it, they both realised it was the door. The thuds kept on coming though, and whoever was behind that door must be very impatient. James motioned for Remy to open the door, but she shook her head and stayed put clinging to him. So he slowly approached the door and opened it cautiously. He sighed with relief when he saw it was only House until he realised that he was in Remy’s apartment and House will be able to figure it all out.

‘What do you want House?’

‘I was wondering if you’d seen Thirteen. She’s been sulking for two hours now.’

‘No. I haven’t seen her...’

‘Then who were you making out with?’

‘What? House!’

‘Oh come on, your tie has been loosened and pushed to the side, and the two top buttons on your shirt are undone. Don’t even get me started on your hair’

‘I fell asleep.’

‘On who?’

‘No one! Just me and the couch. Now if you don’t mind I’d like to get back to what I was doing. Bye.’
