Within a week, Cate was emotionally tortured with House’s attitude towards her. She’s trying her best, as what had been advised by Pitt, but it seems to her that nothing is working. All her works were failure for House and only some were gratefully followed. In spite of her patient’s great performance in rehab and therapy, Cate on the other hand was the one who’s falling apart slowly and painfully.
One afternoon, the door slid open in House’s room and he silently entered. He went straight to his bed and took the edge of it as a seat without looking at Cate who happened to be in the room beforehand. He took off his shoes as the psychiatrist looked at him with a folder at hand.
Cate: I… read your file this morning. Turns out you’re doing great.
House didn’t bother looking at her but nodded in return.
Cate: You want something to eat before we start our session? I brought some ---
House: No, thank you…
He stood up and took the towel that was lying on his bed before standing up. Cate gave out a sigh and walked to block his way. Only then were they able to look at each others eyes again but this time, since it wasn’t through webcam, the tension was real and was killing her easily. Both held furious look as blue landed on brown ones.
Cate: What the hell do you want, House? What more do you want? I have done everything I could to make you ---
House: No you didn’t…
Cate: Is this your plan? What is this? A payback?
House: Payback? Why, did I borrow something from you?
He tried to move forward but she just pulled him back that just pissed him off.
Cate: If this has something to do with what I did to you four years ago, tell me so I won’t act dumb!
House: You’re the one who said that not me… If you’re acting like dumb, it’s your fault, it’s your damn choice to act like one. Why bother put the blame on me?
Cate: Because you’re the one who’s making me act like one!
House: Rewind, yes, this is a damn payback of what you did! --- You let me expect you’ll walk out of North Pole and be with me but hell, you stayed! You stayed with Sean and you didn’t tell me about it! --- You fooled me, that’s all you did, you fooled me!
Cate: House, I didn’t! I do not have a choice!
House: Don’t give me a piece of crap because you have a choice! What are you? An eight year old who doesn’t know what she wanted, if butter is better than jell-o?!
Cate: Shut up because you don’t know anything!
House: I don’t know anything because you didn’t tell me everything!
Silence. Panting from each of them were the only ones one could hear in the room. House was holding his anger as Cate cried before him. She was pale but he was tomato red. She slowly sat down on the edge of the bed with hands wiping the tears that had fallen.
Cate: I know I have the choice and it was my job to make… but I didn’t… ---- I was afraid to let you know because I know you’ll get hurt and I don’t want it to happen…
House: Like I wasn’t hurt when you didn’t…
Cate: I know but… I’m sure it’ll be twice as painful if I called you up and… and… and tell you that Sean and I are getting married…
She looked up at him, with tears still falling like rain, and this time, he also looked back.
House: How could you do that? ---- You decided things for me… This is my damn life and you chose things without my consent?
Cate: I know it was my fault… I have accepted that and I have suffered every bit of pain I had after we parted ways, wasn’t that it enough for you?
House: Nothing is more than enough because I no longer care what you’re suffering for…
Cate: Greg… I’m sorry… I’m sorry…
House: Tell those sorry – s to the fly, maybe he’ll listen to you but not me…
He walked to the bathroom and slammed the door close while Cate was left with some more tears to shed.
In Michigan, on the other hand, things were moving smoothly for Cuddy. She turned out to be a hands-on mom to Rachel who apparently learned how to mumble simple words like mama. Wilson would often drive to visit them way back from New Jersey, just like this afternoon.
Wilson: She sure learned a lot of words lately and that brought her to a deep sleep…
He reached out his hand to caress the sleeping baby’s face.
Cuddy: I guess so… I’ve been reading her bedtime stories, each night if I could… If I fail to, I just let her listen to some nursery rhymes…
Wilson: What a formula to make Rachel the next dean of medicine…
They both scoffed before leaving the baby in the nursery and head to the living room where they sat next to each other on the couch.
Wilson: Enjoying your stay?
Cuddy: <smiled> Each day just keeps getting better than the last one…
Wilson: I guess you have the same progress report with House lately…
Cuddy: He does?
Wilson: I guess Cate do her job very well…
Cuddy: I’m happy to know…
Wilson: If only what I told you is true…
Cuddy: You mean you lied with his progress?
Wilson: I lied about Cate doing her job very well…
Cuddy threw him a stare he knew he should answer at once.
Wilson: He’s pushing her away… House is being House to her and the last time I checked, she’s getting hurt… She’s suffering multiple emotional bruises from him…
Cuddy: Okay the first three were believable but the last…
Wilson: <smiled> I know but you know what I mean…
Cuddy looked slightly down and nodded and Wilson looked at her.
Wilson: I guess after a month, House still looks for you…
Cuddy: <looked at him chuckling> Now you’re being exaggerating…
Wilson: Some truths are and I know this is one of them… He’s still into you that’s why House is pushing Cate away…
Cuddy chuckled again as she looked down and stir her tea. Wilson was looking straight to her, noticing every detail of her face even from one side alone. Every piece of the woman beside him, he admired.
Wilson: <whispery> Damn it…
She looked at him and saw nothing but the same looks House threw to her when they kissed. She shivered and tried to look away again and the oncologist the same.
Wilson: I… I’m sorry…
Cuddy: <tried to smile> No biggie…
They both turned to look at each other again and it was followed by another awkward silence. Both hearts were racing, pulses skyrockets and the next thing Wilson noticed was his hand slowly grabbing Cuddy’s neck, moving her face closer to his as he did the same. In less than a minute, eyes were shut tightly as their tongues battled in their mouths. The kisses were slow and full of passion and desire until reality struck Cuddy. She wasn’t supposed to be kissing this man. He’s HOUSE’S BEST FRIEND and he’s another employee. If she will let him do his way, how much dignity and reputation will be left for her? On the other hand, Wilson loved what was happening but he knows he can’t indulge himself on this. This is a sin, a crime and a betrayal. Both of them broke the kiss when they have concluded, in their minds, that this is no way “just-friends” act. Wilson swallowed as Cuddy turned to face sideway for her not to meet his stares.
Wilson: I… I just got carried away…
Cuddy: I guess I felt the same way…
Their eyes finally met again and Wilson nodded back at her.
Wilson: Spur of the moment…
Cuddy: <sighed> Yah… That moment shouldn’t come back…
Wilson: It won’t… It shouldn’t…
Back in Mayfield, House was standing a few steps from Pitt’s table but his doctor wasn’t on his chair. He was fixing the books he first pulled out earlier with his back facing his patient.
Pitt: House, I know you’ve got principles but the shouting was over the edge already… She’s not here to be Cuddy, she’s here to be your doctor… You disrespected her and if the board knew this, you’re off to detention…
House: What is this? Third grade?
Pitt: <faced House> You know we have rules…
House: And I have rules myself… What I did was just triggered with her being around me.
Pitt: Tell that to the board tomorrow.
House gave out a sighed and Pitt continued putting the books in order in the shelf when suddenly the door opened and their attention was caught by Cate who was now standing by the doorway with bags placed next to her.
Pitt: <stammered> What the hell is this?
Cate: I’m leaving…
Pitt: Look, that was just ---
Cate: I can’t stay here longer… I did my job and…
Pitt: Cate…
Cate: Things will be the same the moment I leave…
Pitt: You don’t know that…
Cate: We can’t know everything…
Pitt gave out a sigh as Cate approached House who just stayed standing and blankly looked at her.
Cate: <tried to smile> Thanks for opening my eyes. Thanks for letting me know, you can no longer love me as before. Giving you up, isn’t easy… but it is simple. I don’t want to and I’ll never will. --- I’m grateful to see you again House, and I was the happiest woman in the world when I was “with” you.
House nodded back and Cate slowly moved towards him. She held his face for a moment before leaning her self towards him and giving him a kiss. She was licking his mouth under her lips but he didn’t bother responding. He had his eyes open and was looking away from her face while she cared closing hers but did the same the moment she pulled back with frustration.
Cate: <extending a hand for a farewell> Guess this is good-bye…
He lifted his right hand and shook Cate’s. She smiled but was still holding her tears before turning back, picking up her bags, gave a nod to Pitt and went out from the room.

A poem I wrote while I was bored. It's about House and his pain. How his pain keeps him from dealing with his problems.
Pain: A House poem.
Pain, It distracts me,
It keeps me from being angry,
It blocks out problems I don’t want to face
Scars vanish without a trace
Pain, It makes me forget
All of my regrets
About those I pushed away
When I really wanted them to stay
Pain, It takes away my fears
Like, if I will be alone the rest of my years
Left here to drown
In all of my secret tears
On pain I am now dependant,
Though it is my assailant
I am as addicted to the pain
As I am to drugs I use to make it no longer remain
Thanks for reading!!! Plz comment!!!
