Wilson drove Cuddy back to her house few blocks away from Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital. They were silent since they left the ground of the institution as they took the highway with moderate to heavy traffic. She was looking outside, with eyes quite watery, when he turned to look at her. He sighed and put his gaze back to the road.
Wilson: Feeling okay?
Cuddy looked at him and tried to smile.
Cuddy: I am…
Wilson made a quick glance at her before both of them looked at the road and cars ahead of them.
Wilson: The coma… It wasn’t House’s request, was it?
Cuddy: He asked me what I wanted for him…
Wilson: So you figured medically induced coma will hopefully blew his hallucinations away?
Cuddy: Some parts of me said it’s what House wanted… So I guess so…
Wilson tilted his head in agreement then silence held them again. She raised her arm to the window sill and began rubbing her temple with her hand.
Cuddy: If the coma wasn’t able to bring the House he and we knew, I don’t know what House will do to me…
Wilson: He placed his life into your hands, I’m sure he knows what you’re going to do. --- And besides, you’re not Stacey… If your theory happens, at least he’s still alive and not only he has a bum leg, but a bum brain as well. Good thing in your part is that you won’t have the ugly, messy and terrible break up.
Both of them exchanged quick glances before Cuddy rolled her eyes. He looked at the road again while she laid her eyes on him.
Wilson: Lisa, he’ll be fine… You made the right call…
Cuddy sighed and looked outside again.
House was already in coma for three weeks. So far, he’s doing fine with all the medications given to him through IV tube. Dr. Pitt was actually expecting him to be back in his real self by the time he wakes up by next month. Wilson visits him as often as he could, so with Cuddy who’s actually seated on the chair beside him tonight.
She was looking at him. He was so peaceful and he was looking more handsome this time. He was the same House she looks at everyday of her life but tonight he was different to the pain in the ass that would barge in her office and brag her about crazy procedures that would soon save a patient’s life. She smiled as she remembered those days. The door slid open and Pitt came in and walked directly to the other side of House’s bed.
Dr. Pitt: Here again?
Cuddy: Obviously…
Pitt made a simple smile and looked at House’s heart rate monitor.
Dr. Pitt: You kept coming back since he was put into coma… You’re not his nanny ---
Cuddy: Rick ----
Pitt looked at her and sighed.
Pitt: Sorry…
He began to write down his findings on the chart.
Cuddy: I have to know about him all the time. The board doesn’t know where House is and I have to come up with a better and believable story every time I stand in front o f them.
Pitt: Relax, he’ll be out of coma by next month…
Cuddy shook her head as her eyes were locked at House.
Cuddy: I shouldn’t have ---
Pitt: Knock it off… You know you’re right, we know you are… You made the right call…
Cuddy: Wilson told me that too…
Pitt took a deep breath and looked at Cuddy.
Pitt: And you didn’t believe him? Why?
Cuddy: There’s only one person I wanted to confirm my decision’s right.
Cuddy looked at him and in her eyes, he could see that she really was in a doubt. He began to walk to the door and stopped before letting himself go outside. He turned so they could exchange looks as his hand hold the door.
Pitt: I’m sure he’ll confirm that you made the right choice by the time he wakes up.
His remark not only brought a smile to Cuddy’s lips but it gave her a somehow light feeling.
Wilson slowly opened the door of Cuddy’s office a few afternoons later. He was surprised to see the office so empty. Her bag was still there, so was the car keys and her jacket but she wasn’t seated on her chair. The bathroom door at the side suddenly opened and he could see that tears had fallen minutes ago.
Wilson: What happened?
Cuddy tried wipe the tears and her face as she walk towards her table.
Cuddy: Nothing…
He stood across the table and looked at her as she packed her things inside her bag.
Wilson: You won’t be crying if it was nothing… Tell me, what was it?
Cuddy dropped the things she was holding and finally looked at Wilson.
Cuddy: Gales… threaten me that I would lose my job if I won’t tell them where House really is…
Wilson: That whore, don’t believe him… He can’t fire you just ----
Cuddy: The board approved his decision…
Wilson sighed as Cuddy continued putting things in her bag.
Wilson: You’re not going to tell them, are you?

Cuddy closed her lamp, got her car keys, got her bag and walk to the door. Wilson slowly turned to face her while standing on the same spot.

Wilson: So you’re saying you’re putting your career at risk than his?
