It was day to remember for Chase and Cameron since this was the day when they’re new house is being blessed. All family and friends were there to celebrate with them and all were wearing smiles as they catch up with each other. House, although staying with the boys, was looking directly at Cuddy who was then with the girls. She was wearing her heart melting smile while carrying one of Cameron’s nieces. He could see how she craves to be a real mother herself but he fears to be a father himself.
Later that evening, Cuddy was seated on her bed with her back against the headboard. She was reading the new memo passed by the board to her that morning while a cup of tea was waiting to be drank on her nightstand. House went out her bathroom while wiping his hands with a hand towel. He looked at her who was seriously reading the folder and said the line below with a plain voice.
House: I can’t find some band-aid in the kitchen kit, I looked at your medicine cabinet in the bathroom after and I happened to see… birth control pills…
Cuddy looked at him by the time he uttered the word “control”. Both were serious as they exchange suspicious looks.
House: I have to know what’s going on here…
Cuddy sighed as she took a sip from her tea.
Cuddy: You’re angry that ---
House: I’m not mad at you… I’m just upset that ---
Cuddy: You want kids?
Silence ate the bedroom for awhile.
House: No but --- <He sat down on the edge of the bed and he let the towel drop on the floor and sighed> You should have told me about it….
Cuddy: You knew that I were on them almost a year now. Even before we got together, I am on them why suddenly you come running to me asking me this?
House: Because I have now the right to know what you are putting in your body because I am your boyfriend, reality check, boss.
Cuddy: <smiled> Oh don’t worry, I am not forgetting that idea… <She continued reading the folder>
House: I thought you want a baby…
Cuddy: I already have… Rachel’s here, remember?
House: <stammered> You do realize that that it’s different when it’s from you, right?
Cuddy looked at him.
Cuddy: Your point?
House: I know you’re getting what I mean to say ---
Cuddy: If you want a baby, just tell me then if I can give you one that’s the end of this conversation.
House was surprised with what she’d said. He rolled his tongue on his teeth as Cuddy looked at him with one eyebrow arched.
House: I didn’t ----
Cuddy: House…
He was stunned with Cuddy calling him sternly like before. He was thinking Cuddy would call him “Greg” this time but she didn’t. He sighed and stood up and his eyes weren’t meeting hers.
Cuddy: Where are you going?
House: <Putting his coat> Home…
Cuddy: I thought you’re going to stay here for the night…
House: Changed my mind… <He went out the room with his keys at hand>
By next morning, House met up with Wilson outside the hospital. They were seated opposite each other as House was smoking a cigar. Wilson shook his head whenever his friend puffs.
Wilson: Does Cuddy know you’re smoking?
House: Uh-huh. She does too.
Wilson: Yah but not like you. <He picked the cigar box on the bench> You almost empty the box.
House: <puffs> I just need to get the hell out of my brain.
Wilson: Patient problem?
House: No.
Wilson: Cuddy? <House didn’t smile instead he puffed again> Thought you slept in her place last night?
House: I nearly did. We fought over a small thing…
Wilson: It isn’t small, House, you wouldn’t fight over a small thing. Sure it’s a big thing.
House: Wilson, a small thing is a small thing. <Puffed and silence> We fought over a birth control pill.
Wilson scoffed and tried not to laugh some more.
Wilson: Oh… <giggled> So, what about the pill?
House: She’s taking them…
Wilson: I suppose you knew that ion years ago. Who cares, actually it’s good she’s taking them.
House: No, it’s not.
Wilson: Unless you want kids then ---
House: She told me that too. Women are complicated. Yesterday it’s icey cold then suddenly it’s greenhouse effect. --- I thought she wanted her own.
Wilson: Cuddy knows what she wanted, House. Maybe it’s you who wanted babies and take note of that –ies I placed in the end. B-A-B-I-E-S.
House puffed and finished his cigar.
