Chapter 4: Hiding
I know I kept you waiting for two weeks but I was really really busy…
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter… It’s a little bit longer, and I have the other one waiting to be posted too.

I felt so bored doing clinic duty. I knew I didn’t deserve it and that I could just marsh trough my aunt’s office door and tell her everything that happened. But I didn’t want that, because if I did that, I would leave an impression of a desperate kid who just wants everything to be like she wants it to be. And there will always be some tension between other doctors and me because my boss is also my aunt, which already made an exception- letting me work here, with House. Another exception was just not in the picture. If I wanted to get what I want, I had to do it fairly, and by myself. Nobody else.
I decided to take a little break from clinic duty so I planned to take some coffee. As I slowly opened the door of the room I was in, trying to sneak out, I thought I heard a familiar voice, the same voice I heard yesterday. As I peaked through a little gap, which was formed between the doorframe and a slightly opened door, I could see and hear Cameron speaking to a blond man, who’s hair was so awesome! I heard every single word of conversation!
Cameron: “Chase, it’s supposed to be a secret. I shouldn’t have told you!”
Chase: “Well, it isn’t a secret now… Why are you doing this? You’re jeopardizing yourself. He is jeopardizing himself every day, but you shouldn’t do this.”
Cameron: “I am a part of this, and I can’t get out of it now… I talked to him this…”
Chase: “What?… this what?”
“Wait… Cameron said slowly… moving towards my door…Oh no!! I think she spotted me!!! Quick! Hide! Hide! She was in my room in two seconds!
“Hi… I don’t think we met… I’m Cameron… and you must be…?” she started.
“Summer Harris… I’m House’s new volunteer…” I hardly said, shaken with the thought what was about to happen…
“Oh, Cuddy’s little niece!… Listen…I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell anybody what you heard both this morning and yesterday…”
“Uhm, ok?” I was a little bit surprised by her reaction… She was nice. I haven’t got that since I started working here.
“If you need anything, I can help you.” She generously offered. I could take advantage of this… Finally!
“ Could you take some of my patients while I grab some coffee? Please?” I asked.
“Sure… How many?”

Cameron almost choked when I gave her 15 cases to handle. She didn’t quite understand why would she have to take care of them all if I’m going on a 15 minutes coffee break. She would if she knew that I wasn’t planning to drink that coffee in the first place!

“Ok… what’s the new symptom?” House was proud that the patient had one.
“She didn’t sleep last night. It’s definitely insomnia.” Kutner said surprised by House’s reaction.
“You suggest it’s insomnia because she didn’t sleep last night?” House cocked and eyebrow in disbelief.
“No… she hasn’t slept for months. Normally. She didn’t want to tell us, because it was already normal for her.” Kutner tried to explain.
“Hm… is she taking any meds?” Taub joined the discussion.
“I am not sure… I’ll have to ask her…She has the most common symptoms, and overall they suggest nothing. I think she’s hiding something.” Kutner concluded.
“You think?” House made a sarcastic remark.
“We better go and talk to her.” Taub suggested.
“No. I’ll go talk to her. It’s time I visit my patient!” House stood up and left the room.

I knew on which floor was my patient so it was easy for me to get to her room. I got in and I find her resting. I slowly took her chart so I didn’t wake her up and read her file. Her name was Emily Donovan. I didn’t realize until now that House has never mentioned her name, which I found really weird. I studied her file for a few minutes and I discovered that they have a new symptom- insomnia and sadly I knew I wasn’t right with my Colitis diagnosis. As I went around the bed to check observe her more thoroughly I noticed red rash on her index finger.
“Hi...” Emily spoke, leaving me a little surprised by her first words. I expected them to be something like ‘Who are you’ or ‘What are you doing here’.
“I am Summer Harris… I am working on your case…” I lied.
“What’s wrong with me? We don’t know yet…” I spoke up sadly.
“Oh, I see… Excuse me but who is that man rushing over here?” she asked pointing in the elevator direction. As soon as I turned around to see who she meant by that, I realized it was House! And I had to hide!!!

Okay, hi, my name is obviously Lena. I have been writting a fanfic for two years now. It is a House fanfic, but it is very depressing and people die. Lot's of people. Also since we don't have lot of background stories on some of the characters I made some up that are probably really far off, but interesting and they serve to make a point. In the beginning the characters are a lot younger. Cuddy is 18. I know, no one could ever be a dean at 18, but the story covers a span of 33 years so I had to make them young. If you would like me to publish it please comment. Thank you. =)
A poem I wrote while I was bored. It's about House and his pain. How his pain keeps him from dealing with his problems.
Pain: A House poem.
Pain, It distracts me,
It keeps me from being angry,
It blocks out problems I don’t want to face
Scars vanish without a trace
Pain, It makes me forget
All of my regrets
About those I pushed away
When I really wanted them to stay
Pain, It takes away my fears
Like, if I will be alone the rest of my years
Left here to drown
In all of my secret tears
On pain I am now dependant,
Though it is my assailant
I am as addicted to the pain
As I am to drugs I use to make it no longer remain
Thanks for reading!!! Plz comment!!!
