Why is house being so sporadic? I mean it hasn't been on in a while. Or is the season over?

They have been on mid-season hiatus since before Thanksgiving. The next new eps will air Jan 17th.
They used to have a shorter hiatus but they now air 22 eps instead of 24 so they have to stretch out the break even more.
