Freaks is a 1932 pre-code horror film directed by Tod Browning, a former circus contortionist. It stared real life sideshow freak performers and the original version was considered too shocking for audiences, it would be decades before it gained notoriety as a cult classic.
The plot follows the scheming mission of a beautiful trapeze artist named Cleopatra, who, on learning of the inheritance of the sideshows midget, decides to marry him and ultimately run off with her lover Hercules, the sideshows strong man.
