After a fight with his older brother, Buzz, over Little Nero's pizza, in front of the rest of the family results in him being sent up to the third floor for the night, Kevin McCallister (Culkin) wishes that his family would simply disappear. After a power line failure which neutralizes all the alarm clocks, the rest of the family rushes to leave to go on a Christmas vacation to Paris, France. During the confusion, Kevin is accidentally left at home by himself and experiences what it is like to be independent for the first time, but two prowlers, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), plan to break-into his house. But Kevin sets up traps out of household items. The intruders are caught, and Kevin is reunited by his family who came back.

Kevin McCallister and his family are taking a vacation to Florida. At the airport Kevin loses his family and accidentally gets on a plane to New York City. After enjoying himself there for a while, he runs into his old enemies, Harry and Marv, who have escaped from prison. After finding out they are planning to steal from toy store, he sets up a plan to put them behind bars once again. He sets up traps in an old house, and defeats the duo. Afterwards, he is reunited with his family.

The film centers on Alex Pruitt, a young boy who is left home alone because he is ill. At this time, four terrorists working for a North Korean terrorist group are sent by their boss to obtain a top-secret microchip that can act as a cloaking device for a missile. They succeed in retrieving the chip and hide it in a remote controlled car, but due to a luggage mix up at the airport with an old woman, the car lands in the hands of Alex who lives down the street from her and gives to him for snow-shoveling her driveway.
Alex finds out about the chip in the car, and that terrorists are looking for it. So he sets up traps in his home when his house was their target. The spies got caught by the police.

Kevin McCallister was invited to his Dad's girlfriend's mansion. Kevin accepts the invitation, and has fun until he finds out that his nemesis, Marv, and his wife, Vera, are planning to kidnap the crowned prince, a visitor of the mansion. He floods the bathroom while Marv and Vera were in it. Kevin gets framed for the mess when his Dad came back to the mansion. When Marv and Vera came back on the next day, Kevin smashed their plans by sending them out the window. Natalie, (Dad's girlfriend) sees the broken window, and frames Kevin again. On the next day, it was revealed that Molly, Natalie's maid, was Marv's accomplice. But Kevin was able to injure the three with traps. The police came and took them. Kevin's dad and Natalie saw it, and finally believed Kevin about the burglars.
