One Direction's Harry Styles Gets Cuddly with Ian McKellen: Watch 

There was a bit of magic on set when Sir Ian McKellen shared the couch with the members of One Direction for a British chat show. 

The award-winning actor and gay rights activist went shoulder-to-shoulder with the history-creating boyband for a taping of

movies, recalled how he’d caught the five-piece perform in New Zealand (“very enjoyable, thank-you”).

However the lads didn’t reciprocate by turning out the following day to watch filming (the last in the

series is on the way). McKellen offered his own theory for the 1D no-show; he gave the hand gesture for taking a drink, and having a puff of wacky backy.

The busy boys admit they’re fans of his work. Harry Styles recounted how he was once off sick from school and used the time to watch the LOTR films trilogy back-to-back. Or perhaps it was just one of the flicks. Or two. Harry averts certain embarrassment when his eyes light up with the type of adoring face he’s used to seeing in the crowd at his band\'s shows. "You’re amazing," he coos in the actor\'s ear. “So are you,” was the response. A semi-cuddle follows. Watch the clip below.
