Boggart Snape
"So the boggart sitting in the darkness within has not yet assumed a form. He does not yet know what will frighten the person on the other side of the door. Nobody knows what a boggart looks like when he is alone, but when I let him out, he will immediately become whatever each of us most fears."
—Professor Lupin to his Third year class in 1993[src]

Boggarts are particularly fond of inhabiting certain places that are dark, such as in wardrobes, the gap beneath beds, and the cupboards under sinks and desks. On at least one occasion, a boggart was found hiding in a grandfather clock.

Clothings..

Wizards at large in the Muggle community may reveal themselves to each other by wearing the colours of purple and green, often in combination. However, this is no more than an unwritten code, and there is no obligation to conform to it. Plenty of members of the magical community prefer to wear their favourite colours when out and about in the Muggle world, or adopt black as a practical colour, especially when travelling by night.

The International Statute of Secrecy laid down clear guidelines on dress for witches and wizards when they are out in public.

When mingling...

Chapter 2

I fell face first onto the carpet.

I heard Fred explaining the Ton-Tongue Toffees to Harry, so I went into the kitchen. MY two older brothers, Bill and Charlie, were sitting at the table with George and Ron.

"Awesome." I said, pointing to Bill's fang earring as I walked by.

"As always." He winked.

I heard a little 'pop' and Dad appeared, yelling at Fred for dropping the candy.

"That WASN'T funny, Fred!! What on EARTH did you give that muggle boy?!?!"

"I didn't GIVE him anything, I just DROPPED it. It was his own fault he ate it." He...

I knew it was coming, this day. This day where the pilfered garbage known to much of the world as the Twilight saga would beat out all the other franchises, including Batman, Lord of the Rings, and, of course, our fandom of Harry Potter. According to a recently published Yahoo article, New Moon is accounting for 94% of Fandango and Movieticket.com's ticket sales as of now. This is highly disturbing, showing that humanity cannot even recognize good literature and film even when its presented to them on a silver platter, these of course being Harry Potter, the Dark Knight, and The Lord of the...

J.K. Rowling's thoughts

The name of the street where the Dursleys live is a reference to that most suburban plant, the privet bush, which makes neat hedges around many English gardens. I liked the associations with both suburbia and enclosure, the Dursleys being so smugly middle class, and so determinedly separate from the wizarding world. The name of their area is 'Little Whinging', which again sounds appropriately parochial and sniffy, 'whinging' being a colloquial term for 'complaining or whining' in British English.

Although I describe the Dursleys' house as big and...

I have often been asked about the impact the HARRY POTTER films have had on my life. What's it like growing up in a film set? How have the films changed/shaped you? What's it like to be a celebrity? Have you missed out on a "normal" childhood? These questions and similar ones have preoccupied the world for many years. The simple truth is that I have nver known any different, and so what the world views as unusual is my normality, and I have loved every minute of it.
The cast and the crew of HARRY POTTER films had been my second family for half my life. I have gone from a young ten year oldto...

Hi my name is Amber Moonstone. My first day at Hogwarts was a mess. First i meet a nice girl named Rasia. Shes ok but thats not the bad part. The worst part was when i fell off the boat on my way to Hogwarts. It was raining, cold, and windy so it was NOT my falt. Ok it was but still....

I was soooo happy when i was put in Gryffindor. Rasia was made a Ravenclaw, I think she looked happy. When i went to my assigned dorm i was glad it was with Lily Potter. We became friends fast. We also have alot in common.

Our classes are the same. First we had Potions, then broom stick flying lessons, next...

George looked up in time to see Malfoy pretending to faint with terror again.
"That little git," he said calmly. "He wasn't so cocky last night when the dementors were down our end of the train. Came running into our compartment, didn't he, Fred?"
"Nearly wet himself," said Fred, with a contemptuous glance at Malfoy.

Percy had what were possibly the least helpful words of comfort.
"They make a fuss about Hogsmeade, but I assure you, Harry, it's not all it's cracked up to be," he said seriously. "All right, the sweetshop's rather good,...

As statistics show, the Harry Potter book-movie partnership and the merchandise which stems from it has seen unprecedented success. Success, which, many could argue, is unreplicatable The reason for this, in my opinion, is that no one has ever fully explored in enough detail the why of Harry Potter. Why does it, in comparison to Star Wars (which I love), Indiana Jones, (which I've never seen,) and other blockbuster franchises, despite astounding success, has never quite so immersed itself in all facets of pop culture? The generation which grew up with the books and films frequently make references...

One loooooong boat ride later...
I looked up after getting off of the boat. My mouth dropped open in surprise. I saw a huge building, bigger than any house I've ever seen. It was lit up, and it looked as if it was inviting us in. Hagrid knocked on the front doors three times, and it swung open. I knew I had to be dreaming. The room could fit several houses in it, and the ceiling was so high, I could barely see it. I stared around...

I've been having many heated discussions with my friends Shalayna and Grace about Harry Potter vs. Twilight. Shalayna says,"You can't compare the two", and Grace says,"They're completely different." But it got me thinking: Why do so many Harry Potter and Twilight fans compare the two books? And is one really better than the other?

Ever since the start of literature, people have been comparing books. Maybe we're just naturally judgmental? The great Harry Potter vs. Twilight debate started, in my opinion, with The Chronicles of Narnia. When the Chronicles of Narnia came out it was possibly the...

While we can’t give everything away (even though we know you’d like us to!), we’d really love to answer some of your questions …

Will Pottermore be available in multiple languages?
Yes. Initially, Pottermore will be available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. We are aiming to introduce more languages in the future – including Japanese and Korean later this year....

Dragons are giant winged, fire-breathing reptiles. Widely regarded as terrifying yet awe-inspiring, they can be found all over the world and are frequently referred to in Asian and medieval European folklore. Able to fly and breathe fire through their nostrils, they are one of the most dangerous and hardest to conceal creatures in the wizarding world. The Ministry of Magic classifies them as XXXXX, most dangerous, or known wizard killers. Despite how dangerous they are, there are people who are trained to work with them, called dragon keepers, or dragonologists. A wizard who illegally trades...
