The crest of Gryffindor.
- Hogwarts, A History was written by Bathilda Bagshot.
-Hogwarts' motto, Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus, means "Never tickle a sleeping dragon" in Latin.
- Hogwarts used to accept children of magical abilities at age 12.
- It was established in the 9th or 10th century, but founded around 990 A.D.
- The three highest towers at Hogwarts are Gryffindor Tower, Ravenclaw Tower, and the Astronomy Tower.
- There are exactly 142 staircases.
- As you may remember, you cannot use electronic devices at Hogwarts, due to the fact that the high level of magic makes them ''go haywire". Radios, however, make...

Hey Guys, I wish you all the best! I know you are in suprise about this article. For me London Olympic seems just like an another Quidditch World Cup! I think the opening ceremony will be grate! So this is the time to enjoy the smell of this rare opetunity for England and exotic wizards and witches. See these all things in your inner wizard eyes. Then you can enjoy even a little fact in the world as a Potterhead!
6 years ago, I heard people in my school talk about a particular "Harry Potter". Those were the days when I spent lot of the days shut up in a room; I was not exactly social, and I was scared to get into a theater. Which made me think Harry Potter was shit, and I had to turn back every time people talk about it.

I don't know why, but I was reluctant to read Harry Potter those days. I was wonderful with reading, and have read complex stuffs like Da Vinci Code. My cousin then got me a set of second hand books for my birthday along with some DVD. I eagerly opened it. To my dismay, it was all Harry Potter.

I ignored those presents for days. Hell, I ignored my cousin too. After much coaxing from my friends, I finally agreed to take a sneak peek. Which turned to be something beautiful, a world of more that I could imagine.

The irony of it all- my cousin and my friends- all of them wished I'd never heard of the boy-who-lived. Oh, Sweet Merlin!
The Longbottoms
The Longbottoms
Alice and Frank Longbottom are the parents of Gryffindor, Neville Longbottom. They were not killed, but they faced a fate worse than death.

Not much is known about the Longbottoms, but they were both Aurors and were members of the Original Order of the Phoenix during the first war. Both Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix risked their lives every day. They knew what they were getting themselves into, but they fought fiercely for what they believed in. It takes a strong person to risk their own life. Not many people were in the Original Oder of the Phoenix, probably because they were...

Hype has caused quite a few fake teaser posters, such as this one, to pop up online.
So as everyone knows, pretty much everyone in the Harry Potter fandom is on edge awaiting the much anticipated release of...the Half Blood Prince teaser trailer. Seriously Warner Bros, is a little over a minute of Half Blood Prince goodness just a little too much to ask for? Considering that the last Harry Potter film to be released in November, namely the Goblet of Fire released on November 15, 2005, had its trailer debut in April. Now considering that Half Blood Prince is to be released November 21 of this year, why is WB taking so long to release a short teaser trailer? And which film will...

Dear Rose,
Then you shall do everything in your power to help your brother. Even if you two are in a fight, you must get him back to the way he was. Is everything alright? Are you okay? You know I'm always here for you.

Love,

Mum

When I read Mum's letter, I felt like crying. Somehow through all of this, she hasn't flipped out, hasn't gone nuts. She's stayed her cool, calm, serene self. But then again, she doesn't know about Hugo and his friends ''master plan''. And somehow, I don't feel like I can tell her.
All my life, our parents have always told us Hugo and I were special, and that they were...

This was for my birthday party a while ago. A bunch of my friends, and i have CRAZY friends, came over. I remade Hogwarts using my yards and the rooms in my house. We also redecorated my sister's (house elf) magical Snow White Cottage into Hagrid's Hut . . . We went to all of our classes and made some really creepy potions. I forgot to tell everyone that the pickled onions had been in the fridge for 6 and a 1/2 years, but they were already eating them . . . oh well. To Madame Pomfrey they go!
So . . . yeah. I have to fill up this "article" or it won't let me publish it, so I'm just gonna write lyrics to some songs here.

Think of Lion King.
Now read this.

To start I would like to say that I am not posting this to be mean or start any fights. I'm posting this because a lot of people ask me why I don't like her or simply assume it's only because I like Bellatrix, and I want to clear this up. Plus I'd rather just post a link to this article rather than explain it every time someone asks.

Anyways, the first and biggest problem I have with Molly is (yes the obvious one lol, I'll get it out of the way first) that she killed Bellatrix. I do respect her motives, her kid's life was on the line. But I still don't like it. I also don't like how she called...

OK, so I saw that recently, a lot of people have been posting these "You know you're a potterhead when..." stuff. So I thought I'd put together some of the ones I'd seen people say or post. I believe I have 50 or so. Here they are:

You Know You're A Potterhead When...

...you get married and you want to say "Always" instead of "I do"
...you wish you could get married to another Harry Potter fan so that you could beak Unbreakable Vows instead of regular wedding vows.
...you cry because you don't get your Hogwarts acceptance letter
...you can't say "Honestly, don't you read?" without sounding exactly...

The Chamber of Scerets
The Chamber of Scerets
Chamber of Memories
October 31, 1992
Minerva McGonagall sat gazing out of her bedroom window into the rain swept grounds of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was nearly midnight, but Minerva was unable to sleep; the event of the evening were still playing in her head. "The Chamber Of Secrets has been opened; enemies of the heir, beware". The image of the ominous message on the wall seemed to be etched on the insides of her eyelids. She shivered at the thought of the chamber being opened again. Memories began to resurface, memories that she had long tried...

I found these fascinating, thought you guys might too, :)

Bellatrix - “Bella” is a construct of the word “bellum” meaning “war” and “trix” refers to “a woman in power.” Bellatrix is therefore known as the “Female Warrior” and is also the pale yellow star indicating the left shoulder of the constellation Orion, the Great Hunter.

Blaise - Blaise was the teacher of Merlin. From the Roman name Blasius, which means “lisping.” From the Latin “blaesus.” A famous bearer was Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician and philosopher.

Okay, I seriously wasn't going to go here but I feel the need to express my opinion a little further. So I have heard some of you say " The Harry Potter series will be re-made to keep up with time, or keep the legend alive". That is fine that you have that opinion, but I only have one or two questions. You don't think the movie series will live on as a classic. Its the top earning movie series in the world, not counting inflation. It has the best British cast in the world. Besides I think Hollywood avoids remakes if they can unless they are trying to make quick money. And if they do remake...

Recently I posted a few pick questions regarding crucial scenes being cut out of the movie(Half-Blood Prince) this is my first time writing an article on fanpop so i have chosen to use it to address the diffrences between the film and the book.
As reported on wikipedia, there are a number of difference between the film and the book. The first difference is that Luna Lovegood discovers Harry in the compartment of the Hogwarts Express and not Tonks, she(Luna) finds Harry wearing Spectrespecs to find him. This would explain the pictures we have seen of Evanna Lynch wearing glasses in trialers for...

Well, I know some people say that it's bad because it has withcraft, but I think te movie is very entertaining and kind of funny. My favorite character is Harry Potter, ofcourse. I like him because she's a little diferent from the others in a way. To me, he also seems like the "chosen one" if you know what I mean. Ron is really cool too. He's the funny guy in the group. Hermione,at first got on my nerves because she she seemed like a know it all. During the third movie, I started to like her more.
That pretty much covers the three main characters so I'll go on to how I feel about the storylines...

Compared to some of the other dynamics in the Harry Potter, Sirius and Bellatrix's was rarely in direct spotlight, whether in the books or the movies. They have, however, one of the most interesting and intriguingly unappreciated relationships in the series.

First of all, their parallels -- they were both prisoners of Azkaban for over ten years, making them both sullen, depressed, haunted individuals who are overly familiar with battling for sanity and hope against the dementor's oppression. The difference? Sirius pulled through, Bella gave in. Still, even if Sirius was strong enough to avoid...

Doing pokemonfan909 request since i love Drarry personally and i have written things about them before :)

"Harry, we have to get back to our common room, it's almost curfew!" Hermione told harry, who was staring off into the distance of the library.
"O-oh..yeah, right. Forgot." He mumbled standing up and walking out of the Library with Hermione and Ron.
As the three walked down the hall, Hermione was going on and on about homework and how she got hers all done. She was also saying that she wished she had more since she had nothing to do in her free time.

Harry wasn't even listening. He was spacing...

I combined a few surveys/questionares into one. See the first comment for the source links.

- I thought I'd have my original/fan character fill this out because I'm currently focusing on writing about his childhood.
He's a werewolf/wizard in the Harry Potter universe, and he filled this out at age 12. (Because I haven't yet visioned his life in much detail beyond his thirteenth year.)

- A modern day person may wonder why would a kid answer to certain questions there and even that openly, or talk about those matters with his friends, or how could a police officer discipline his child that severely......

This article is about the hog warts houses, I called it "minds beyond men" because if I were a wizard I would be a ravenclaw (a witty and intelligent house.) what I am mad about is how everybody wants to be a gryfendor just because Harry is in it. As me and Taylor say "you aren't a real fan if you don't know your real house." we'll I am just telling you to find your own house instead of saying your a gryfendor. So here is a small guide to help you determined your house...
Hufflelpuff: kind and loyal
Ravenclaw: smart and witty
Slytherin: ambitious and power hungry
Gryfendor: daring and brave
So I hope that this has let you see your REAL house and not just the one that you want. TAKE MY ADVICE IF YOU ARE A REAL FAN!!!!!
What is it with all of the comparison typed content all over the internet between Twilight and Harry Potter?

Well I suppose they can be compared by their levels of success--but not really--harry potter is on another level.

And as a story, it's like comparing a coloring book to a good novel. Apples and oranges people.

In Harry Potter JK Rowling creates a whole other universe for readers to lose themselves in. Stephanie Meyer on the other hand has just slapped together a barely readable teenage fantasy.

RL. Stines Goosebumps books are more engagnig that Twilight for Pete's sake.

I have watched one of the Twilight movies and didn't find it enjoyable at all. What is so enjoyable about watching an ungrateful teenage protagonist that does little more than moan and complain? Nothing.
