Harry Potter Vs. Twilight Question

Should I read Twilight? (Pros & Cons of the book?)

I'm the kind of person that gets easily obsessed with things (just look at my fanpop page) so in the past I was somewhat afraid to pick it up and I didn't have the time. Should I?
I figured this was the spot to ask because there are people here that love it and others that hate it.
Don't worry Twi-fans I don't diss your book because I haven't read it but I have seen your movie.

Pros:
-If you like corny, cheesy fluffy and rather meaningless romance, this is for you
-If you like sheer, pointless randomness, this is for you
-If you love hot characters, this is for you

Cons:
-No plotline until the last three chapters (out of like, 20 something)
-No character depth
-No depth at all, actually
-Extremely predictable
-Poor writing
-Arrogant author
-Whiny and pathetic protagonist
-Extremely shallow
-Unrealistic in a bad way
-No climax
-Huge amounts of subliminal messaging
-Abusive relationships made to look like true love
-Hugely anti-feminist
-Pedophilia made to look romantic
-Too happy of an ending WAY too easily

AND MORE!

I'd suggest not reading it, but if you want to it's up to you. Good luck! :D

Well it depends on what kind of stories you like.

Props:

- If you like romances based on doing everything about your beloved one even dying or something like that, read it.

- If you like basic and old miths like werewolves and vampires but pimped, read it.

- If you like books without many details and easy writing, read it.

- If you like hot characters, don't read it, see the movie.

Cons:

- You can't learn much things reading it, because the main storyline is based on doing everything for love, but that love is a bit obsessive, so is not a great model of love.

- The story is based on two big characters: Bella, who's the perfect woman of the 50's and Edward who's the perfect man of the 50's. What is not what we (girls) were suposed like to read but as Bella has an old personality and Edward was born in other era, they match perfectly.

- You wait for the ending to have some emotion and drama, and all you have is a strange and very easy ending. The typical story that ends with 'they lived happy ever after'.

- Is a typical story for teenagers, mainly or totally for girls. So by this information you can see what genre it is.

I have read all the twilight saga books and I don't dislike it, but's not a phenomenon as everyone thinks.

Depends on taste. If you have any you won't be reading this book. But it's your personal choice.

PROS: :(
1. Thesaurus for the word beautiful.
2. Gorgeous guys with no brains or personality (seen as a good thing in the book).
3. Whiny protagonist who hates everyone who loves her (typical teenage behavior so it's easy to get into her whiny shoes).
4. Jacob (has a personality), Rosalie (bitchy, just like me) and Carlisle.

CONS: :)
1. Very, very, very Anti-Feminist.
2. Very shallow protagonist. Apparently true love happens only if you are good looking.
3. Story sucks.
4. Pedophilia and Necrophilia is made to look sexy.
5. Non-existent plot.
6. No suffering. Everything is bloody perfect.
7. Somewhere millions of trees died for this crap to be published.
8. The fans who think that this shit actually qualifies as literature.
9. Cinderella at least had a reason to whine. This protagonist has absolutely, unconditionally and irrevocably no reason to whine but does so in almost every page.
10. The cheese in these books is enough to feed the entire universe for all eternity.

Positives: If you like romance, shallow, vain characters and bad writing, it's for you.
Negatives: Very little character development. Plot a bit far-fetched in places. Some...worrying aspects (Paedophilia and abuse) Very anti-feminism. Makes stalking someone look OK.

I'd take these points into consideration and judge it from that. Borrow a copy from a library if you aren't sure- it's better than spending your own money.

Also, read it to broaden your range. I'm currently reading it to strengthen my arguments against it.

NOOO!!! Don't read it! I made that mistake once and have always regretted it- it would be a shear waste of several hours of your life to read that fluffy, meaningless, perverted and utterly pointless pile of junk. Keep your innocence- DON'T give in- DON'T read it!
I know this is a strong opinion and I don't mean to sound offensive, thats just what I think

OK So even though I am DIE-HARD HP fan, read Tw*l*ght. It will give you other areas of knowledge and broaden your perspective on debates. You can read it and now compare it to other books, which would be something you couldn't do before. You read this you have back-up info to use as proof of your reasonings. Gosh, I sound like a lawyer! But yes, even though I hate the book, read it anyway.

You can't just dimiss the whole thing, if you want to make valid arguements, you're gonna have to acknowledge the other side too. People think that HP fans don't read Tw*l*ght, but we do, just so we can argue these so called "points" they all make.
