Harry Potter Vs. Twilight Question

Why is this war between the two series? They don't even have something in common!

It really confuses me,Is it the profit it has got from?

I personally like both of them:D

It's the media. The media started saying things like "Twilight is the next Harry Potter" and "Move over, Harry Potter, here comes Twilight" and other ridiculous statements. So HP fans objected, and the rivalry began. Why must the media ruin everything?!?!

I know what you are saying
It had also bugged me in the past.
I didn't even understand,they didn't have anything in common!
If we were talking about the genre they where totally different.Twilight being an Romance-Drama-Fantasy type.Harry Potter being an Fantasy-Drama-Horror<-(that might include to some people)and a slight part of romance.
Of course, If we look back in the time where Breaking Dawn has been published,on the back of the book there was a small phrase saying:
-It's time for Harry Potter to back off& etc...
I guess alot of people saw them as 'similar' to one point.
In my opinion Twilight and Harrpotter are two different things,
HP is about courage, honour, friendship[i] while twilight is basically a [i]'forbidden love'.
If you see things differently you'll notice that they both sold millions over the entire world!,and (if you could count it as a related thing in common--) both the authors are almost the exact age and women.
I think that from the huge success from both movies and series,it's been a competition now that Twilight exists people want to know what's happening to Harry Potter.
--Or it is just the fans from both fanclubs that are aware that the other spot might be better and simply try to express they're voices out loud, tending to exaggerate in terms of preferinces.
(sometimes we tend to defend the thing we like too much that creates a rivalry)
there are many different reasons why there is this debate that makes T&HP look common...

The back of Breaking Dawn said "Move over Harry Potter" and I see it as the primary cause for this argument. I know it definitely pissed me off and I suspect I'm not the only one. Great answer.

They have werewolves. =D Oh wait, in Twilight they are shapeshifters.

I don't understand it either, but I like to compare things. This should be a helthy discussion with civilized people, but sometimes people take things too far. We know it's just books, but we love those books and we don't want anyone insuling it. But even sometimes when someone says something politely, someone 'attacks'. I'm trying to speak for both twilight fans and harry potter fans.

The problem is that the media and some fans compare Twilight and Harry Potter. The media started it by saying that Twilight was "the next Harry Potter". Now YOU think that they dont have anythign in common, but I disagree with you. And even if they didnt have anything in common you can STILL compare things like the message it gives on different matters, the writing, the quality etc. So I think it's perfectly normal to compare even though I personally think that Twilight cant ever be compared to Harry Potter because HP is on a whole different level of epicness. I dont like it when we attack each other either, but I really like pointing out WHY I think HP kicks Twilight's butt. And there is nothing wrong in that. It's just an intelligent discussion about litterature. My best friend is a Twilight fan AND a HP fan, but I dont give her a hard time about it. We discuss why I disagree with her and that's it.

Ugh yeah. It's like EVERY piece of fantasy HAS to be compared to HP. On the other hand, that shows how amazing Harry Potter is, because it is a high standard for the fantasy genre that everything should be compared to. lol. Even if it annoys me ;)

I'm glad that other people have this view, too. :)

I wish people would spend their time loving books that they like instead of criticizing books that they don't. Books are a form of enjoyment, which means you are supposed to "enjoy" them. If you don't like a book, good for you. Don't ruin it for other people.

Plus, does anyone really believe that these books are going to be popular in 50 years? Especially Twilight? Most people waste their time finding things to hate on that will have no real effect in the long run. We should just all ban together as fans of books instead of splitting apart for stupid reasons.

What are books good for if you cant critisize them? I mean, you have got to say your opinion on the books you read or else there is no point in reading them in the first place. And having a reasoning behind your critisizm of a book doesnt "ruin it" for the people who like it if your reasoning is not strong. If Twilighters feel that the people who dont like Twilight are ruining it for them, then there is something wrong with the book itself if you just cant love it for your own reasons without worrying what other people think. I see some people hating on HP, but it doesnt ruin HP for me, because HP is amazing in my world. It's just one of the things that stays with you for a long long time. And to answer your question, I am VERY sure that the HP series will not be forgotten in 50 years. It will be a classic in the fantasy genre. :)

I know, but wouldn't you rather spend your time liking something instead of criticizing something you don't? It'd be like listening to a band or artist that you don't like more than an artist that you do like just to pick apart things you don't like about it. To me, it's really pointless. And I know that that's just my opinion. I think most people, I hope, realize that Stephanie Meyer can't write. That's not why the fans love the books. Stephanie Meyer wrote the books to tell a story, which is why the fans love it. And people hating on either series doesn't ruin them for me, either, I just hate seeing people attack things that I love, that's why I defend them so heavily. I didn't say that HP will be forgotten in 50 years, it obviously won't. I said that it won't be as popular as it is now. People will find something else to fangirl over, I'm sure.
VampiresRevenge posted over a year ago

Fangirling is just an expression. There are some way over-the-top HP fans, like Twilight fans, that scream at premieres, dress up as characters, blah blah. So if the Twilight fans like that can be called fangirls, then so can the HP ones. Plus, I wasn't calling ALL HP fans fangirls, just the obsessive ones. So, basically, I was saying people will find something new to obsess over. Reading a book you don't like is a waste of time, too. And, with your logic, listening to a crappy band a lot would give you insight into what good music is. =P

I think that everyone is sick of Twilight being the new big thing, because, well, Team Potter feels that HP is better! We're sick of Twilighters thinking that Twilight is some kind of phenomenon, when the truth is, it's just a bunch of screaming girls obsessing over fanfiction.

umm...I don't think everyone is sick of twilight.& many people seemed to enjoy it,well yeah possibly 'Team Potters' feel that HP is better, but there are people liking twilight and I really don't appreciate you calling us 'screaming girls obsessing over fanfiction',sure The twilight series are not as 'good quality' written as the HP series by J.K rowling .

And I do personally think Twilight is a 'phenomenon' & and that' s just because there wasn't a story that had a concept of a vampire loving a mortal girl (even if the vampire was a 109 yr.old sparkly cold vamp.xD) and that's why I think the fangirls loved it.Because the concept of the story was pretty interesting,if Im wrong correct me.

Harry Potter didn't have any fame or glamour, - Siriusly, your name is CHAGRIN?! Need I say more - anyway, Harry Potter's been something of a legend, and it never had the fanatic media attention (e.g. Rupert slept with Emma - OMG scandal) or whatever; it was something separate, something ... transcendent, although the books themselves were THERE. The war started when: a) media "move over HP", and b) Twitards started stating "My boyfriend sparkles/bites/watches me sleep", etc. :)
