I can't choose. They're two totally different types of books. I read HP when I'm in the mood to be immersed in a fantasy world and Twilight if I'm in the mood for romance and angst. To me it's like trying to choose between a fun filled picnic with great friends and a romantic dinner with your partner.

Harry Potter. I'll admit, I used to love Twilight.. back in like, 7th grade. But by 8th grade, I kind of broke free and realized I didn't like it. I was mostly in a vampire craze at the time, so that was the only real reason I read the series. But I'm getting really into the Harry Potter books, and they just have much more to offer.

Harry Potter to the death! First off, the people in Harry Potter have flaws, while Bella is supposedly "miss perfect". Second of all, Harry Potter isnt all romance, and is original. Twilight is about forbidden love, and thats a topic most people write about. Also, Harry Potter is unpredictible, and is the only story that made me cry.
Twilight couldve been better, I liked it at first, but then it got boring. Harry Potter never gets old.

Harry Potter is so awesome! What I really wish is that when my mom dies is that I get the movies handed down to me. Cause I was about the only person who enjoyed them as a kid in my house.

personally, I'd have to say Harry Potter. I started reading it when I was five years old after the first movie came out on DVD and so I've literally grown up with Harry and his world. going to the midnight premieres - for both books and movies - and sharing harry potter through so many parts of life made me feel like part of a family. twilight is a romance novel that I predict will never stand the test of time the way Harry Potter will and my 8 months as a twihard didn't create the same sense of family and fanbase loyalty as being a Harry Potter fan does.
plus I like a book with strong moral lessons and without plot holes or extreme religious sex/marital views ;)

I dunno what other people like, and I can't make them like something that they don't. But I know what I like. And I LOVE Harry Potter. It was and is a big part of my childhood. Again, I dunno what you like and I won't question what you like. Strictly an opinion. Harry Potter FTW :3

In my opinion,I've read Twilight and the first book in the series is alright. But then I came to find out that the one after (New Moon) it made the previous one make more sense. And the following book (Eclipse) brought it back, and the last book of the saga (Breaking Dawn) just tanked on it's own plot with the 'battle that never happened.' DX
After finally making it through New Moon to finishing Breaking Dawn in about a week, it was like a giant 'screw you' to me when nothing but Jacob's point of view and the training sequences of both the werewolves and the vampires were the only plausible points in this book. Then it ended with everyone talking out their differences after a few minor characters die and everyone going home to live in their 'perfect pieces of forever.' *WTF?!!*
Now I've been reading Harry Potter for a while before the first Twilight book and the plot is very understandable to me, albeit a few minor flaws. But regardless of those, the series remained true to the overall plot and the development other characters within had me hooked well after the fact and maybe beyond. Now everyone has their own opinions and reasons as to why one person likes one series more than the other, but the level of respect for each piece of literature has to prove that level. My dislike toward how Twilight ended is what influenced me to look past how Harry Potter ended. The character deaths in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is what compliments the climactic conflict in the final book.
Long story short, based upon everything that each book has : Harry Potter is an original classic that will last for generations due to the broad fan range and genres. Twilight changed the genre of vampires and werewolves in general, but didn't fall through with the character development throughout the series other than the superficial. Its a good book, but Harry Potter surpasses beyond. My preference is Harry Potter.
