Other than Harry Potter and Twilight, what books/TV series/movies would you recommend?

I know neither are TV shows, but I just added it for fun. My list:

You should try the Fablehaven series, it's really good. :D Magical like Harry Potter. :O It's like HP in the sense it's for kids but adults can enjoy it too

our English teacher made us read Life of Pi and do assingments on every chapter, and we never even finished it -_- we're gonna, this year... but I plan on reading it by myself later because books suck when you read them chapter by chapter in class.
