Have any hard-core Harry Potter fans read 'Twilight'?

Yes, I've read all four of the Twilight books and also Midnight Sun. Before this year, I didn't want to have much to do with the Twilight series because I thought that the storyline sounded a bit bland - and I also didn't like it replacing Harry Potter. Now that I've read them all, I can feel more entitled to criticizing specific aspects of the books, and I can also feel downright outrage at them being said to be better than HP.

Yes, I have read all books from each series, so I think that I & all the others who have read all the books have the right to judge & critize either. My opinion is that Harry Potter is much better than the Twilight Series, just thought i'd put it out there. {:

First (before i answer) I have never seen a pick/answer thingy where it was asked if Tw*l*ght fans have read Harry Potter. I have seen like a million like this one though.

So for my answer: I have read the saga (like before anyone else had even heard of it) and that is why I feel justified in my hatred of it.

I actually bought Twilgiht and New Moon cause I figured this fuss had to be about something worth while. NOPE. I was wrong. I tried reading Twilight. I got through like two chapters and fell asleep. I have never read a more boring book. So I gave them away. I should have sold them,but my cousin likes them so I gave them to her.

Thanks for naming me... haha. Now I feel like a jerk.

I've read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, most of Midnight Sun and I am halfway through Breaking Dawn.
I have seen both movies as well, just so that is said.
I'm having a hard time finishing the last book because it's so boring. I really don't care what happens to any of the characters. I wish the book would just end, already! The fact that it's my sister's book doesn't make it any easier. She keeps confiscating it every time she catches me reading it.

Edit: Never mind, I've read it all now. I even started The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, but didn't bother finishing it. I've seen the third movie as well.

I actually read Twilight before Harry Potter. I thought HP would be really cliche and Twilight had a lot of hype so I read it. I was a huge fan until one day I herd a guy in this band I like saying that Gabe Saporta (Cobra Starship) looked like a Potter actor (Alan Rickman). Mom was reading HP so I decided it'd be a good idea. Fell in love on the first sentence.

To be honest, I haven't read the series. I tried to read Twilight, but I just couldn't finish it, it's not my thing at all!

I've thought about reading the series, but I don't want to spend the money (lol, cheapskate!) and life's too short to put myself through that kind of mental agony!! :P

But I try to avoid being too critical about the books - I don't think I have any right to, since I've never taken the time to read them. I joined this spot to stick up for HP and (this is really nerdy) to read the arguments! I'm sorry, but I find some of the arguments between fans on this spot highly amusing!! :D

I read the Twilight series before Harry Potter. I loved it, until Breaking Dawn. But then I read Harry Potter and realized that I've missed out on a lot, so now I like Harry Potter better xD

Yea, and I was actually an obessive fan until I read Breaking Dawn, then I turned anti. I wanted to see gore, and all I got from the fight was talking... -.-
I plan to read Midnight Sun when it officially comes out (IDK if it has...) and the new short story, and all the movies. I'm reading the books mostly because I hate not finishing a series and I consider them part of it. The movies are another thing... One Word: Rifftrax XD!

I did, and I, too, was an obsessed crazy fangirl. Unfortunately to my friends, I 'saw the dark' (their words, not mine). I realized Twilight is a lot like crap. Bad for you, brain-rotting, and annoyingly addictive. I've read all books, and I read Breaking Dawn (in five hours *is bragging shamelessly*) and I hated it. It was so disappointing. Over-glorified Fanfiction. Honestly, when I was reading Fanfics in my boredom, I noticed they were BETTER THAN THE BOOKS! SMeyer fails. Harry Potter saved me, and I know view it with reverence.

Honestly I WAS a big fan of Twilight, but not as obsessive like the others I know of. Anyway, the reason why I read Twilight was because I was curious as to why so many girls were reading it. So one day, I was shopping and I bought the first book for my half-sister. Since I was supposed to send the book to her, I was allowed to read the book before giving it to her.

The day I first read Twilight, I wasn't expecting to be so into it, but I was. I was hooked on it like a drug, reading faster than usual. However, I only read the first two books, almost the third book, and I saw the first movie. It wasn't completely necessary to read the entire saga since I knew what's going to happen.

During the summer, I stop reading for a while, and I ended up realizing that Twilight was the most pathetic books I've ever read. Harry Potter made me realize that when I decided to read it for a summer assignment. I got into Harry Potter again and I'm happy that I did.

So in the end, I got rid of the first two Twilight books: the first was send to my half-sister and the second was given to my friend ( I just hope they'll realize what they're doing is bad for their health). As for the third book, I still have it, and I'm not planning on reading it further. I just need a way to get rid of it (I wanted to burn it, but I was told no). :(

I also avoided everyone that I was close to who was into Twilight. I never seen New Moon nor will I plan to see it, as well as for the other movies to come. I've tried warning people not to read the Twilight saga because of my experience. However, it didn't work. So when it come to debating, I'm really good it whether I know all the information or not.

Look I'm not trying to be mean or start a fight, but sometimes I just so frustrated. So to anyway Twilighters reading this, no offense honestly. I can respect your personal opinions, but you just have to deal with mine.

I read Twilight before it even became this incredibly popular. My friend recomended it to me and I gave it a try. I think I read about the first couple chapters when I gave it back to her.

Since I write my own fanfictions and storys, I became rather annoyed at Meyers writing style and her cliche plot and her characters. Even my sister told me that Twilight was just a rip off of True Blood. It's about a girl and her vampire boyfriend (who doesn't sparkle! :D ), theres a vampire that sees into the future or something like that. (Whatever Alice's ability is) a newly transformed vampire (Jasper) a vampire that hates the human (Rosalie) and a warewolf (Jacob). At least character-wise wasn't very creative. The plot was just awful. A new girl who somehow becomes very popular her first day and the school hottie who never notices an other girl suddenly sees her and they fall in love! Awwwwwwww- no. it makes me sick to my stomach. -____- I don't mind love storys but that plot is so overused! Twilight should've stayed on fanfiction(dot)net!

My friend told me to read Twilight. I read it right before the actual film came out, and I didn't think much of it but I still went on to finish the next 3 books. I hated reading them because it just seemed so plotless and boring, but I finished them so I could make an actual judgement on the saga. I've read one page of Midnight Sun but that's it.

i have read all the four twilight books and i had to finish them with great determination and perseverance. Just because i did manage to finish the books did not win me an award or any appreciation. So, after having felt that i have wasted like 17 precious weeks to finish the books(i just couldn't handle the so much bullshit in a lesser time) i think i atleast have the right to diss it on public forums like this one, with substantial arguments that have a strong base. thankyou very much!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, I have. I used to love twilight, but then my friend forced me to read Harry Potter, and I realized how bad it is. So I can make my arguments in peace, because nobody can accuse me of not reading them.

Yes, I've read Twilight and I still quite enjoy it. Don't get angry with me. I still love Harry Potter too. I love both of them, though Twilight has been my passion since it first came out. I realize that Stephenie's writing isn't perfect. J.K. Rowling uses said too much. Sorry. I don't want to sound mean. I feel like such a jerk.
Anyway, yes Twilight can be horribly cliche at times, but it still can be wonderfully romantic. Us fans can debate Twilight and HP all day long but at the end of the day it all comes down to taste and what you, as an individual, prefer.

I've only read the first three books. Well, I moved to a new town and was really depressed since i missed where i use to live, and so i decided to read them just to keep me busy. I loved it at first but i always hated Edward since he didn't leave Bella alone. So one day my best friend forced me to read Harry Potter. I thought it would be long and boring, but now i'm obsessed. And now i realize how many mistakes were in Twilight.

Well, as many of you (by what I saw on the answers) I read the entire Twilight saga and I kinda liked it at first.
Shame on me, but I was crazy about it and all the story of the vampire that falls in love with the human and bla bla bla.
But reading Breaking Dawn woke me up and opened my foolish eyes.
At the time I started to read Twilight, I had already read all the HP books and I was (and still am) fanatic about it. I started to read HP when I was 8 and now I'm 19. And the crush I had about Twilight's story vanished with a blink.
And I'm not the only one, my best friend feels the same about twilight. We used to like twilight and talk a lot about it. But now, when twilight comes to a conversation, both of us admit that it isn't that good and Edward is very abusive indeed.

I am a HARD-CORE Harry Potter fan (as in, I changed by on+off switch to lumos+nox) and I have read all off the twilight books, except for breaking dawn, because I really cant be arsed to tell you the truth. I read them because my friends were like 'Its the new Harry Potter' and I didn't want to look really weird for not reading them so yannoo...and for the record, it really isn't (the new Harry Potter, that is). i have! although, i may not be that hard-core of a fan but i love the books and JK. i don't think that i have read yet another book that will be close to the brilliance that the HP books have. :) twilight, otoh, i have a mixed feelings with. it's quite addicting though but when i finished it, i'm like "what??"

I've read the first three Twilight books but they just don't make the cut like Harry Potter does. Harry Potter is...well beautifully written. Twilight is more like someone getting their fan fiction published.

Yes, i Have read all the twilight books, because at one point i was a fan of the series. but when i started hearing that Twilight was being called better then Hp, i re thought how "good" those books actually were. Not good enough to be comparing w/ the the hp series.
