Sadly, Claire Holt was busy being cast in Messengers 2: The Scarecrow during Season 3, because Season 2 was supposed to be the final season, but Season 3 was filmed due to popular fan demand. Claire didn't return in Season 3, first or last episode, but her Character Emma Gilbert was mentioned in Season 3 Episode 1: "The Awakening". Emma was written out of the show by explaining that she left to travel the world with her parents (possibly for several international swimming competitions that she had to refuse-unknown if her family now knows she's a mermaid.) Then Indiana Evans came in as a new mermaid, which sparked some undeserved hatred towards both Evans and Holt. So far, there is now Season 4, but a new spin-off called Secret of Mako Island (so far, it's unconfirmed whether or not the original cast will appear or be mentioned) with 3 new mermaids(they are promoted as real mermaids, not human moon pool mermaids; still 2 blondes 1 brunette) with the 1st ever Mako merman. Like I said, Claire wasn't in Season 3, no Season 4 as of yet and so far not in the spin-off.
