It was a long 8 hours, but he was finally here. He bravely knocked on the big double wooden door of the expansive, beautiful old French main house on the Waldorf Vineyard.
The door opened.
“Charles, it’s been too long!” Welcomed Harold Waldorf before sweeping his son-in-law into a big bear hug.
“I couldn’t agree more, Harold,” responded Chuck.
“Can I safely assume you’re here to see my daughter?”
“Yes, you can. I believe her and I may have done something very rash.”
“I couldn’t agree more. She’s out in the guest house, hasn’t left it since her and the kids arrived yesterday.”
“Thank you, sir.” Chuck replied, relieved he had found Blair.
“Oh, and Charles?”
“Yes?”
“She may be quite stubborn, like her mother, but my daughter is still head over heels in love you. So, fight for her.”
Chuck laughed quietly. “Yes, she is. But Harold, I love your daughter more than anything in this world.” And with that he left for the guest house.

Has she made a mistake? God, she was still madly in love with him, but how good was that love if it couldn’t be returned? She had spent the last 36 hours pacing in her bedroom, contemplating if she had made the right decision or not. Suddenly her thoughts were interrupted by the opening of her door.
“Daddy, I really don’t want to….”
She turned around and there he was.
The look of pain in his eyes mirrored hers and all previous thoughts flew out her mind as she ran into his arms.
“I’m so sorry,” she cried into his chest.
“No, I’m sorry. I treated you like crap, and broke the promise I made to you so many years ago, when I vowed to never hurt you again.” He said into her hair. “I love you, Blair Cornelia Waldorf- Bass.”
“And I love you Charles Bartholmule Bass, always have, always will.”
“Then why the hell would you file for divorce?!” He asked while smirking.
“Chuck, every night you came home drunk and smelling of other women. I love you so much, that I want you to be happy no matter what. If you wanted someone else, you could have them, I just didn’t want to fight with you any longer.” She answered meekly.
“Blair, while you and I have been together I’ve never slept with another women.” He stated.
“Stop lying to me!” She yelled as she broke out of their embrace.
“I’m not lying, all those nights I was drunk, but I hadn’t slept with anyone. It was foolish of me to do this but, I sprayed myself with perfume so you’d think I’d been with another women.” He admitted.
“Why the hell would you do that?! If you proclaim to love me so much, why would you want to hurt me like that?” She yelled back at him.
“Because Blair, you were going behind my back doing god knows what with Marcus Beaton! I wanted you to feel how I felt.” He shoved back in her face.
“Chuck, nothing happened between us. He has never been more than just a pawn in the game that you and I play with one another. How can you not know that? I love you. I even loved you that summer when you abandoned me in Tuscany.” She stated quietly.
“Then why did you keep it a secret and what was he so sorry for?” He asked more calm now.
“You read the letter didn’t you? Well I should have guessed you would have. Anyways, I kept it a secret because I knew you’d act like this and because I was humiliated what he was sorry for. Did you ever wonder why him and his step-mom left so quickly? It was because they were sleeping together.”
“Why didn’t you just tell me that?”
“Cause it’s embarrassing, and because every boy I’ve dated has cheated on me.”
“Blair I never have.”
“That may be true, but you’ve also slept with half of New York City.”
“Well I’m sorry for everything. I’m sorry for hurting you, and I’m sorry that you would ever doubt my love for you. Do you think that maybe we could try again and not go through with the divorce? I’ll even go to couples counselling.”
She looked at him, he really did want to try again, and there was still love here between them.
“We’re not going to couples counselling,” she stated.
His face fell. She picked it up with her left hand.
“But I’ll call the divorce lawyer in the morning.” And then she smiled, and kissed him.
Their kiss turned into much more, and soon their bodies were intertwined and they were making love, like they hadn’t in two months. Blair broke apart for the briefest moment.
“Oh and Chuck, in the morning I have a surprise for you.” She whispered into his ear.
The door opened.
