I made a joke thread over on the Internet Movie Database message board about whether or not Gaston could be a bastard older half-brother of the Beast (not necessary meaning they're raised by the same people).

People were trying to argue with me that Gaston is a farmer's son. But I don't buy he's a farmer son.

If he was a farmer's son he wouldn't be returning home from a hunting trip first thing in the morning or spend time chasing after Belle nor later sitting on his ass bitching about being 'rejected' and I highly doubt that a farmer's son would care about his wife being pretty.

From my experience of history and of the nobility, Only a member of the nobility would have time to hunt for fun and to have time to decorate any building with antlers.


Even his clothing indicates he's wealthy compared to the villagers.

And also I highly doubt the villagers would look on a farmer's son as a hero. A member of the nobility yes, I could see that happening.
