We have just heard from a reliable source that the shooting of Game of Thrones season 3 is to commence soon, namely on July 9th. The prepping for the shoot has started and will take place over the next two weeks.

All told, the filming lasted 140 days and spanned three countries and dozens of individual locations. Pretty amazing for a TV show. Now begins the process of taking all that film and editing it down to approximately 10 hours of television.
