Valar Morghulis: Who’s most likely to die in Game of Thrones Season 7?

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Who's most likely to die in Game of Thrones Season 7?
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Wow. Where do we even start? With nine characters wiped off the map in one episode, “The Winds of Winter” had almost twice as many deaths as the previous week’s episode, “Battle of the Bastards”…and that had a battle! Not even “The Rains of Castamere killed off as many characters in one episode; think about that one for a minute.
Before we head into the offseason, we wanted to take one last look at whom we think might perish in
Season 7, and of course take a look at the ones we got right from last week! (Because it was hard to be wrong this episode.)
1. Kevan Lannister: 90%. We called for Ser Kevan’s death for most of the season, and although we didn’t correctly guess the manner of his demise, Cersei was still behind it. Next time someone asks you to be Hand of the King, kindly decline. Those guys never last.
2. Pycelle: 80%. Pycelle getting mutilated by those creepy kids was pretty brutal, but at least we got that excellent dialogue
3. Lancel Lannister: 75%. Lancel was another Lannister we never saw surviving the season, and we were quite correct. Cersei even seemed to arrange an extra-special death for him, or maybe he followed that little bird by chance. In any case, nice knowing you, buddy.
4. The High Sparrow: 75%. When we said we thought the High Sparrow “has been playing with fire for the past two seasons, and at some point, he’s bound to get burned,” we had no idea how literally correct we would be. The High Sparrow died in the most epic way possible, and even had enough time to realize what a colossal mistake he had made before being incinerated.
5. Loras Tyrell: 50%. For a few minutes during Sunday’s finale, it looked as if Loras might finally be free of the Faith, but sadly it was not to be. We hope you enjoy playing Iron Fist, Finn Jones!
6. Walder Frey: 50%. Of all the deaths on this list, Walder Frey is easily the most celebrated. Seriously, not even Jaime Lannister liked this guy. We took extra satisfaction in Arya being the party responsible.
7. Tommen Baratheon: 50%. Just like with the High Sparrow, we nailed this one, although we aren’t quite as happy about it. We correctly predicted the pressure of being king, coupled with some sort of tragedy, would spell the end of the last Baratheon. Tommen’s swan dive out the window still caught us by surprise, as did Cersei’s involvement in her last child’s death.
8. Margaery Tyrell: 50%. We mentioned that everyone in King’s Landing could be dead by the end of the episode, and Margaery sadly fell into that category. She almost had it figured it out, but in this case she was one step behind the ruthless and cunning Cersei Lannister, and now she’s out of the game permanently.
9. Mace Tyrell: 50%. Mace was always such a non-entity that its hard to feel anything about his death. Oh well?
Honorable Mention: Lothar Frey and Black Walder Rivers being baked into Arya’s pie. What a way to go.
And without further delay, we present to you our picks for Season 7.
****Percentages refer to how likely the character is to die, not survive.****
You had, like, three scenes in Season 1. Why did you pick a fight with the Kingslayer? These are the characters we think most likely to die in Season 7. We hope they all have their affairs in order.
Was there anyone less likely to survive the immolation of the Sept of Baelor than Septa Unella? We were quite certain Unella would go up in flames like the rest of the Faith, but it turns out Cersei has other plans for her former tormentor. And while we certainly believe that Ser Gregor will take his time with Unella, we can’t believe that the Septa will survive the entirety of Season 7.
Don’t confuse our rankings as some sort of distaste for the character, because we quite like the latest Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, but it is also very likely that Edd is the
Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. The White Walkers are heading south, and Edd is standing directly in their path.
We all thought the Wall would fall in Season 6, but now it seems almost certain that it will come crashing down in Season 7. And it’s likely to come crashing down on Edd’s head. Look, we can rhyme.
We saw Benjen with Bran and Meera in the Season 6 finale, riding off with the team’s only horse and vowing to continue to take the fight to the White Walkers, but even Benjen seemed to acknowledge that it might be a suicide mission.  Our best guess is that Benjen will attempt to delay the White Walkers as long as possible before finally succumbing to the might of the undead army. It was good to see you again, Benjen!
We believe that the Red Woman has some part to play in the great war to come, but we aren’t quite sure what that is at the moment. Whatever it might be, it’s likely to be a dangerous one for the elderly priestess.
It might appear that Melisandre rode to safety in the finale, but we don’t see the producers letting her off the hook so easily. The Red Woman has to pay for her crimes, and pay for them she shall.
The Grejoy siblings might appear to be safely sailing home in the middle of that massive armada, but remember that Uncle Euron is likely headed straight for them, and with a thousand ships, no less. Our best guess is that, sometime before Daenerys’ fleet lands on the shores of Westeros, they are intercepted by Euron and a grand naval battle shall ensue.
Theon likely still harbors some guilt over his past actions, and we could easily see him sacrificing himself to save Yara during said battle.
Yara Greyjoy beat the odds and survived the hostile takeover of the Iron Islands by her crazy uncle Euron, but our guess is that it won’t be all smooth sailing on the way back to Westeros. Uncle Euron is likely not very happy with his niece and nephew, and if he has managed to build anything close to those thousand ships he asked for, it will be bad news for Dany’s armada.
While we are guessing it will be Theon that dies in the battle, it could just as easily be Yara who never makes it back to Westeros.
If our prediction about a grand naval battle between Daenerys and Euron’s fleets proves to be correct, it isn’t likely that producers would kill Daenerys in said battle. Dany dying on the way to Westeros would cause a collective riot the likes of which the world has never seen. So if Dany isn’t dying, it’s gonna be crazy Uncle Euron and his giant manhood, but not before taking out one or both of his niece and nephew.
This is our out-of-left-field pick for Season 7, especially considering that Littlefinger always manages to squirm his way out of every tight spot he’s ever found himself in. Call us crazy, but we see one of Littlefinger’s schemes finally backfiring on him, namely his attempt to drive a wedge between the Stark siblings in Winterfell.
We have also assumed for a long time that Sansa would be the one to eliminate Littlefinger, and that looks more likely than ever now.
We don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Cersei is going to run things right into the ground now that she is the head honcho in King’s Landing. Even if there wasn’t an armada and three dragons heading her way, and even if she hadn’t made enemies out of the entire realm, Cersei would still somehow manage to ruin things.
Our best guess? Jaime is the one who finally stops his sister, and before she can commit any more atrocities like the destruction of the Sept of Baelor.
Qyburn’s survival is largely tied to Cersei’s, and if the new queen of the realm perishes in Season 7, we believe the former Maester will go down with her. Qyburn has become Cersei’s right hand, even more so than Jaime, and doesn’t seem to have any issue carrying out Cersei’s orders, no matter how crazy they may be.
Perhaps Jaime eliminates Qyburn before taking out Cersei, in much the same way Jaime once killed the Mad King Aerys’ pyromancer before killing the king himself.
“Sorry, I’m a bit of a stickler for paperwork. Where would we be if we didn’t...
“What kind of king do you think you’ll be?” —Tywin Lannister “A good...
Have you already read all the books and/or don\'t care about spoilers? You can reveal all the spoilers in the comments with the click of a link below.
Is it possible Ned had a forgery made and buried the real Lightbringer with Lyanna?
I think you are confused. The sword Ned took from Arthur Dayne is ‘Dawn’. After ToJ he takes the sword to Dayne’s family.
Always felt Dawn was Lightbringer in hiding. Made from a “fallen star” and its properties like milk glass, unlike anything seen. It spent thousands of years in the property of Starfall. The recipient of Dawn killed herself upon its reception. If it ended up in the crypts of Winterfell with Jons mothers corpse then her life could be the one spent to power it. No one has been worthy of weilding it since Arthur Dayne. Could mean they don’t have it or it’s no longer really Dawn, but a forgery.
Ashara Dayne killed herself when Ned returned Dawn. Maybe the reason Ned was returning Dawn was that he was also giving her nephew Jon to her to raise. She loved her brother Arthur and was jealous he fathered Jon, then to Neds surprise, killed herself. Ned would then have to give Dawn to someone else, and raise Jon himself, or someone told him to keep Dawn and give it to Jon out of respect.
I really like this theory but jons parentage was confirmed on hbo’s family tree.
I have never heard this before, but I like it. Man it has the GRRM detail written alllll over it for sure.
I like the thought of Ned holding onto Dawn until Jon is ready for it. The “promise me” could have been Lyanna telling Ned that Arthur, the best friend of Rhaegar, is Jons father instead, and Rhaegar fought the battles for his friend and their shared hatred of Robert. Excluding that Dawn belonged to the best swordsman of Starfall, it would then belong to Jon. This also frees up the ikiness of Deanerys being Jons aunt.
I think there is something about the sword to be revealed. Go to the scene at TOJ where Ned arrives at Lyanna’s bedside…..the camera very deliberately focuses on the sword Dawn, as Ned placed it leaning against the foot of the bed. It seemed odd to me at the time, that the camera angle was squarely on the sword for a moment.
Melisandre had to have inspected Longclaw and wondered if it were Lightbringer. She is a person who believes strongly in prophecy, so I think searching for that legendary sword would be her next move. Starfall would be home of the worlds second most famous sword, and one of the top things Melisandre would like to see for herself.
If Raegar is Jons father, then the deal Arthur made was that the Daynes would raise Jon and keep him safe in case Raeger died. Ned, because he killed Arthur, took the sword and Jon to fulfill Arthur’s pledge to Lyanna and Raegar. It isn’t inconceivable that Arthur would want Dawn to go to his best friends son, in spite of tradition. Thousands of people died for that union and child.
Hard to imagine Cersei, Jamie, Euron or Littlefinger getting out of next season alive. Sansa may also fall but I can’t see either of Yara or Theon dying.
Ps Sandsnakes and the Dornish Mafia must also surely suffer some casualties.
I seriously chuckled on that Sand Snakes and the Dornish Mafia bit, kudos. But I agree with you, I think that Cersei and Jaime are done for sure, I could see Jaime killing Qyburn and Cersei and killing himself after that or FrankenMountain squishing his head. Euron, Littlefinger and Sansa could be more likely to die in Season 8.
I think that if Dany dies too early, the whole story is a bust… She should live to at least apply fire to the WW army… Will these 3 dragons reproduce? Hmmm…
For God’s sake will everyone stop talking about time-traveling characters in this show! Things do not happen in a linear fashion in this story. Storylines jump back and forth( think Pulp Fiction) If you look at the ships in the Armada, you will see ships with sails from highgarden and Dorn. This suggests the passage of time, allowing Verus to get there. Stop being idiots and enjoy the story
You forgot The Mountain. Surely a goner in a rematch with his bro The Hound?
It seems the Mountain and the Hound are going in opposite directions, since the Hound is going North. I’d like the Mountain to get melted by a Dragon.
King in the North Jon Snow will survive. Only worry is if he fights the walkers next season.
Euron will either fight Dany at the Sea or side with Cersei for battle. I think that could be the big battle of the season
I believe Danny’s main enemies have to die before she deals with the Night’s King, so Cersei and Euron must die, unless Cersei escapes of King’s Landing on time. It would be great to let Jaime fight against the White Walkers and die for something good.
I’m starting to suspect that Coldhands is a double agent. If it is true that Bran is the key to letting the walkers get past, or even tear down, the wall because of the mark placed on him, then Benjen “helping” Bran could all have been to make sure he got the mark and then made it under the wall to cancel the spells holding it up. It would make sense for the walkers to create someone half human for this purpose I think, which is basically what they did to Benjen.
And if this is the case Benjen might have a big villainous part to play in the coming two seasons and will not be dying again any time soon.
Other than that I know the producers hate me and never kill off the characters I want killed off. So Cercei, Brienne, Jorah Mormont and Daenerys will not die. I dislike them far too much for that to happen. And since I like Sam, Sansa, the Hound, Arya and Tyrion they will probably be killed off in the first scene with a giant falling piano.
I bet you believe the earth is flat and that we never really landed on the moon too…
Of course. Otherwise thank you for the completely unprovoked sideswipe. I do enjoy when polite conversation is made impossible immediately. Who needs it right?
Anyone who wants Brienne, Dany and Jorah killed off deserves more than just a sideswipe…
You act as if everyone loves Dany or is supposed to. Many many fans dislike her so get over it. I’m sure you dislike characters that many people like. Stop insulting people for having differing opinions. You come off as a childish fuck whistle.
Brienne, really?!??!?! I can agree on all but brienne. I surprisingly like her super honorable self. She was “honorably” annoying like ned.
Or, Arya could let Uncle Edmure free on her way out of The Twins.
I want Edmure to die. Littlefinger will kill him and his family so that Sansa can inherit the Riverlands now that she lost the North.
I don’t think Sansa lost the north. I think she will peacefully regain it back from Jon or he’ll give it to her when moves on to whatever he’s supposed to do. Who will end up warden/wardeness of the east though? I don’t see robin making it.
I love Yara as a character, but think it would be more interesting to see Theon thrust in a leadership role in the middle of a disaster. Considering how broken he is and how little respect he garnered from the iron born when he first took over, it would be an interesting thing to explore
Littlefinger is one of my favorite characters. I hope he makes it out of the show alive.
It’s possible Benjen could be a key factor in beating the Nights King. He was saved by the same Children who created the Nights King so though he cannot pass the wall at the moment maybe once the wall is down his worth will be shown. I think there’s still enough Stark in him that he’ll blow right past the dead and ride straight to Winterfell to help defend his family. I would love Euron to be the one to go but there will obviously be a confrontation between him and Yara and Theon. I also think Cleganebowl will happen at some point. The Hound is sure to reconnect with Arya. He begged her to kill him, maybe she didn’t cos she wanted him to die in pain. He’ll feel indebted to her and the best duo in Westeros will ride again. The Hound has wanted to kill his brother for decades now and he’ll have his chance. Then again I never would have predicted the many deaths last episode.
I suspect two of my favorite characters will not survive the season.
– Arya, I don’t see her lasting to the end.. her story arc is about complete, she is a fan favorite – but, needs new arc.
– Davos, a fan favorite but I don’t see him lasting.. bDavos’s trip to Skagos to get Rickon must not turn out well – sDavos story arc is over.
No way Arya dies next season. You don’t take a character and train them to be a quiet, faceless assassin unless you have a purpose for her.
It wasn’t Walder Frey because they could have had him die of old age. Besides, she needs to reconnect with Nymeria anyways!
Silent brings up a good point! Where in the world is Nymeria?! I keep waiting to hear about her somewhere. I think Nymeria and Ghost are the last dire wolves alive. Is that right?
Arya will be the one to kill either Cersei or Dany I think.
I suspect Arya will meet up with the Brotherhood Without Banners, Nymeria, and possibly Brienne and Pod.
What is arya to do even if she makes it to the end? Will she marry some high lord and kill him to take his seat? I agree after she crosses everyone off her list, where does her arc go?
I am tired of this “Who is gonna die thing” … it is not catchy anymore.
I whole hearted agree with the idea of Jaime would try to be Queenslayer, I don’t see what else should be epic ending for Cercei than kill by Jaime.
Maybe Cersai will try and kill Jaime because she’s worried that he’ll fulfill the prophecy?
Littlefingers plans blow up in his face. He kidnaps Sansa taking her to Cercei. He tells Cercei to reinstate trail by combat so that Jon will have to come fight for her. ( killing two birds/Starks with one stone) Only it’s not a wolf that shows up but a hound…And we finally get Cleganebowl.
I could see that happening–and it would also be a callback to that scene in the Winterfell crypt; where Littlefinger and Sansa discuss the kidnap and rape of Lyanna, because Rhaegar “chose” her.
I can’t see it happening but wouldn’t it be cool if Qyburn bought back Tommen instead of burning him–and then Tommen could be the Valonqar!! 💀
that would be a great twist and worth watching! what dragonwolf said.
how about one fleet of ships sailing east to westeros, or west to essos… euron suggested he had sailed further than anyone before, perhaps he is taking a shortcut to meereen? or is dany sailing new waters to fulfill the prophesy that to go west she must go east?
Dany fulfilled that prophecy when she went back to Vaes Dotrack.
No way she’s sailing somewhere else, she’s going to Westeros 100%.
They don’t have time for this things anymore, we waited 6 seasons already.
Theon can’t die until he learns about Ramsay, preferably finding out in a face-to-face meeting with Sansa. Then maybe he can sacrifice himself saving her from Littlefinger.
After surviving everything he’s been through I’d be surprised if Theon dies . I would put Asha’s chance higher. Theon was a character everyone thought would die after reading ACOK and the early seasons of thrones ,but he’s still alive and there’s probably a reason. His arc could have concluded when he saved Sansa but it didn’t. Could have ended with him siding with Asha but it didn’t. I believe he survives the story. Now he’ll probably die in the season opener haha
I’m interested in a reunion between Tyrion and his wife Sansa (the Lady Lannister), sort of hope Brienne and Jaime form an alliance and not least Jon Snow and Daenerys – of course the Dragon has three heads…! I wonder if Jaime and Cersie are Targaryen…! Interesting possibilities all….
Also, what about the wolves…what part do they play? Just can’t wait for GRRM to publish Winds of Winter!!!
I’m more excited for the book than the new season.
Euron is definitely not dying next season , he is a villain introduced at the end of the show , which makes me believe he will have a huge impact on the end game , plus GRRM said the final battle wont be good vs evil , some evil will definitely stay , am betting on one of the greyyjoy siblings or both of them to go out , and sansa too.
You had Tommen at50%, I wouldn’t call that nailing it.
Euron will build 1000 ships, so he need at least like 20000 man, Yara and theon stole like hundreds of ships and a huge amount of men, how much Fighters have the iron Islands ? with a Army like that balon could rule easily
Has anyone given any thought to the idea that Euron might mayhaps join forces with the Mad Queen? She is in desperate need of allies and well is an unmarried woman. She also has the freakin Iron Throne that Euron wants. In the Damphair’s most recent chapter he has visions of Euron sitting on the Iron Throne with a pale woman (or something along those lines) Seeing as how Dany has joined forces with Yara and Theon. Also I feel like the Belligerents in the upcoming Battle for the Iron Throne need to be a little more Evened out and Euron/Mad Queen alliance just might do it. The Army of Dany Is way too huge for this to look like anything close to a good battle. As of now The Mad Queen only has the Lannister Army from the looks of it. Thats against, Im going to say, around at least 100,000 Dothraki, 50,000 from the Reach, maybe around 20,000 from Dorne, around 7-8000 unsullied, The Greyjoy fleet, and not to mention 3 FUCKING DRAGONS. They Have to find a way to even out these numbers some how.
Daenerys last few prophecies … Finding love and the third flight and third fire
as in the prophecy) sounds like a good plot in the final season… If it’s Jaime then he too will survive till last season or Tyrion or Arya or The Hound… This is pure speculation and not a spoiler … Prophecies are already out in the books… So no apologies to anyone crying “spoiler”
Shouldn’t Bran be at like, 0%? George R. R. said he would end the series with a Bran POV chapter. While the show is likely to deviate, I doubt they’d kill off a major character that is going to stay alive in the books, right?
Little Finger is the worst shit in the 7 kingdoms! I hope he takes the iron throne and while he’s sitting on it, Drogon breaks through the ceiling and gobbles him up! 💥🐲
Drogon could just melt the Iron Throne down with LF sitting on it.
Sam + sword + sweet innocent lady… sounds like the legend of Azor Ahai… I think Gilly sacrifices her life before the next season is over.
If you look at the back of the iron throne in Dany’s vision/ when Ned walks into the throne room in the first season you notice that behind the throne is the depiction of the 7 pointed star. I sense bad times coming for the red keep.
Way too early for such predictions, the chessboard is rearranging at the moment. Not at 100% ofc, but I can agree about LF and, sadly, Edd.
LF can’t betray the Starks again, simply because there’s nobody to betray them to. Cersei is a lost cause and a mess, he won’t bet on a limp horse. Daenerys is a long shot, and she has his old friend The Spider by her side, not a good idea coming near. Right now it looks like he’s running out of options, but I’m sure he’ll think of something pretty soon. Most likely keep on diggind his ditch between Jon and Sansa, but lately the world is seriously working against him – two more Starks are likely to pop up North soon.
Bran dying? Come on… he has a lot to do, and then he’ll most likely step quietly aside, Three Eyed Raven style. The North seems to need such a character around. The only disposable Stark is Sansa, but she’s been such since the very start and yet here she is. I’ll be quite happy to have her around till the end if this is the trade off for no other Stark ( or direwolf ) dying. But if The Many Faced God wants a life and a name is Stark… take her and you can have any two ( at least relatively ) major characters for free.
Let’s be real here. The “new” queen of the 7 kingdoms is 100% dead next season! There are basically 2steps left in the show.
Step one, unite westeros under one leader. There is a 0% chance Cersei can do that. I’m not positive but her only semi major ally were the Frays and they got a fork stuck in them. Who all wants her dead? Dany cause she’s on her throne, Dorne cause she killed the prince, high garden cause she killed the future, the north cause she had a part in every stark that died death. Heck, even Jamie may be sour on her. Danny is going to win step one. Wonder who she will marry after taking the south to unite the north and south…
Step 2, defeat the white walkers. If dragon glass kills them I’m guessing dragons will also kill them! 3 dragons but only 1 targaryan? Or are there more? I’m thinking one somehow ended up with black hair. Also thinking his little brother can pull an autopilot with the 3rd. What would kinda be a cool ending for Bran would be him dying while in the dragon. Then he would be the 3 eyed dragon instead of Raven!
Dragonstone, where Dany was born on that dark and stormy night is build on an obsidian island. I firmly believe that one of the things which will happen in Oldtown is Sam rediscovering how to make Valyerian steel, which will change a lot of things. Jon will put out some sort of raven blast about dragonglass and Valyerian steel powers and call for all of those swords to march North
I hope to see raven grams going back and forth between Jon and Sam regarding stuff Sam learns.
Read your next season death predictions – what about Brienne and Pod? Surely they must meet up with The Brotherhood and Lady Stoneheart as in GRRM’s Dances With Dragons, with the Hound in attendance who will surely be glad to witness the demise of the one person to ‘bring him down’…..
Stark children don’t do well, most die, shortly after their dire-wolfs death.
Jons the exception, in that he died before his wolf, but he’s not a Stark! Sansa survived but it’s been one misery after another. Season 7, will see Bran and Sansa die in short succession.
Bran’s ‘not ready’, Leaf tells Meera Reed ‘he needs you’ but she’s not a fighter or strong enough to carry him. He needs her to pass on what he sees.
Howland Reed, the only other person who could know Jons linage, where the sword Dawn (possibly lightbringer) is and has some knowledge of the sight. (As his son did).
Conjecture, not spoiler: I too see Cersei dying by Jaime’s ….uh, hand. At “The punk’s ” bier he asks “Why do love an evil woman” or something like that, so it’s eating at him. There is MAJOR chemistry between him and Brienne ever since he saw the goods. He evidently (like ALL men) decided “Hey I could f** k that!”
There’s a harsh day of reckoning coming for Melisandre . Davos want a piece of that action–but she’ll go ‘accidently’ by fire! And Yara will survive. She’s got lesbian juju.
Jon Snow will end up as King of Westeros and Daeny will be Queen of Essos and unite the kingdoms
Isabel and Ferdinand with Spain via their marriage.
I hate to say this but I don’t hold out much hope for Nymeria in S7. The show doesn’t seem to want direwolves around. (I still refuse to believe that GRRM will kill Summer off in this manner – he deserves better, and book Bran (unlike TV Bran) would be devastated by his loss). If Nymeria re-appears in the show I will sadly expect her to die in the next episode. Perhaps we should have a vote on who is most likely to un-die in S7 🙂
Asha Greyjoy, I don’t why but either Theon or her will die and I’m going with Asha.
Littlefinger. I will miss him, as he caused much of the story I fell in love with to happen singlehandedly. But he’s backed himself in a corner even he can’t talk his way out of.
Melisandre. She’s still on Aryas list and that’s not a good place to be.
Cersei and Jaime. Murder suicide I’m calling it. Cersei will threaten to burn KL and kill them all once Dany is about to route the Lannisters. Jaime won’t allow that. Jaime will be that tragic character who saved millions two different occasions but will only be known as kingslayer.
My surprise death will be Sansa killed in whatever conflict between LF and Jon,
Others dying will be The Mountain, Qyburn, Berric Dondarion, Gilly, Greyworm, and Pod.
Euron will emerge as a major threat with the help of the horn.
To all the comments about how Euron is so outnumbered by Dany, keep in mind that in the books he possesses a dragon binding horn. I know he gives it to Victarion, but he is book only, so if Euron could control a dragon or two that would definitely even things out a little. Just a thought.
