that was Hoenheim not Father. Father is the main villian in Brotherhood and the manga he looks like Hoenheim because they are blood brothers. You see Hoenheim's blood was used to make Father. He's like the Dante of the manga except his goal wasn't to live forever; he wanted to know why he had been made and what his purpose in life was because he like all of us felt lost and confused about our existance
