Okay, I don't know if it's just coincidence but I noticed this week that some picks just are, I don't quite know how to describe it, bad.

It just seems that a lot of picks are asked so that they are asked, a lot of them don't have pictures. (that's not very important but I can't help noticing)
But the worst thing is that there are so many typos in the questions. Look, my English is not very good, I make a lot of mistakes but al least I try to make as less as possible. I mean, a lot of questions are just so wrong, the 'preview' thing that you get when you've finished making your pick is there...

A few minutes ago I thought of a partial answer to the recent outbreak of internet trolls we've had over the last few moths.

Ladies and Gentlepoppers, I introduce to you:

The ATSOF (The Anti Troll Squad Of Fanpop)
This will be a society of fanpoppers who work together to justly rate any content which has (without reason) been rated low.

My plan is to make an ATSOF Spot; if a spot or particular piece of content has been rated low you can alert the ATSOF spot about this and some of the "fans" of the spot will head over to the content and rate the content fairly, therefore boosting the rating.

Please tell me what you think; I don't want to create a Ghost-Spot-to-be

If we make a new spot we want to make it popular. Recently I made a new spot so when I wanted to send a message to all my friends about it I got tired of typing individual messages so I quit. So we should be able to send one message to all our friends at the same time if necessary. Also there should be an area that says "new spots" on the home page so that people can see what has been recently created and if they want to join the particular spot. It would really make the people who created the spots happy because they could get some good publicity.

By the way I made a new spot about Kal Penn, the indian guy from the van wilder movies, Harold and Kumar go to white castle, and Epic Movie.

So if u like those movies check it out. all you have to do is type "Kal Penn" in the search engine" (obviously, I know)

Also this soapbox was ment for the fanpop spot

Writers Note: This has some strong opinions. I wrote it for my blog. Therefore, it was meant to state my opinions loud and clear with no respect for others. Sorry about that guys, but if you're sensitive, proceed with caution. I'm also very liberal.

Well, we've been in Iraq for five years as of Wednesday. And now we might be getting into the same thing in Iran. Nothing is certain, that's just my opinion. You think they'd actually learn after the first time. You know, maybe if we've been stuck in this damn place forever where it's kinda hard to withdraw, that we shouldn't do it again. But apparently...

This part of my link details how you can format text in your postings on Fanpop, and the article was last edited (to fix typographical errors) on 17 July 2013.

TEXT FORMATTING
Those of you who have written soapbox articles before may have seen the guide that Fanpop provides for formatting text. But maybe you've never written a soapbox article or never noticed the key, and have been wondering how some users manage to make their text more interesting. With these tags, you can:
* boldface your text
* put your text in italics
* underline your text
* have your text point to a different URL link

I thought I would put this on here because from what I understand this in not something that happens very often. I thought it was a fun way to advertise the spot and get new members.

Okay, I know I haven't been the most active lately but I really feel like the abuse and bullying between members here is a real big push back for me. Every time I come on there is some sort of bullying happening in some spot. And I will be honest and say that it IS mainly the OTH type spots.

A perfect example of this? link. These comments happened 2 or so hours before I wrote this article, not months ago so it is a relevant thing. I don't care if you think I am pin pointing anyone because both sides in bullying count, not just the initiator.

"So look at what *name* said:

I almost said this on yet another Twilight pick in yet another irrelevant spot, but I felt that the user would feel targeted, when really this isn't about that individual user, it's about the Twilight fans in general.

I have heard from some Twilight fans (note: I said "fans" and not "fanatics" and in this case, there is a very large difference) that they are actually afraid to go into the Twilight Spot anymore because of all the enthusiastic Twilight fanatics. Now that's OK. Fans (or fanatics) of any topic can be as crazy as they want within the confines of their own spot. House, One Tree Hill,...

It's so frustrating. You create a spot, or find a spot you like and add all sorts of content, yet nobody rates it. Days go by . . . weeks . . . nothing. Now, you have lots of fans, but do they know your spots or the content you've added? Are you familiar with your fans contributions?

Here's an idea. Look at your fans. Go their profiles and look at their activity. Check out what content they've added. You don't have to join the spot if you're not a true fan of the subject, but that shouldn't stop you from rating the content. Try to answer some of their quiz questions. Look over their links, videos, and/or images. Rate what you see. Make it a monthly event. Choose one day each month and on that day choose one of your fans and rate his or her activity.

By exploring your fans' activities you'll help them as well as find out more about them. Who knows, you may learn something new and perhaps find something new of which you can be a fan.

I know you folks are tired of hearing about crediting images. I'm not here to beat that into your head yet again. I've already done that... and I continue to do it in comments on your images when you forget.

No. This time I am here to give you a helpful tip. A lot of you have paid attention and are now putting a credit on your images. Thank you for that! The problem now is a lack of film knowledge, which is very forgivable.

You see, when it comes to movies, forget what I said earlier about crediting the website you got the image from if you can't find the actual owner of the image. With movies,...

It has come to my attention that my gift for words has been failing me miserably these past few days. What I mean to impart is coming off as bitchiness rather than humerous or helpful.

For that, I want to apologize. Especially to Harold, who works hard for this site and didn't deserve to feel like he was under attack at all. I'm an idiot. I would offer to smooch and make up, but I'm too old to be getting beat up by anyone's wife...

Now, having said that, I am going to go over a few things that might be responsible for this mood lately. I simply feel like I am banging my head against the wall...

When I first clicked onto Fanpop, I felt like something was a little different. It wasn't like MySpace or YouTube (not that I have anything against the people who use them), where I normally get the feeling that people I don't know are looking at my profile. I felt like I could message the users on here and not get a rude or creepy message back. I could comment, rate, and make picks without anyone (besides the occasional bad-mannered user) commenting on my own opinions. I could add things and feel really great when someone else gave me props or commented on how thankful they were for that item. And, I am so glad that fanpop has stayed this way! I feel so comfortable on here and only know 4 other fanpoppers in real life. I just wanted to compliment all of the wonderful users on how great they are on making this an awesome site to be on! You are all part of the reason I am now very addicted to Fanpop!

A generic link title is about as helpful as using this picture to guess what color this person's eyes are.
A generic link title is about as helpful as using this picture to guess what color this person's eyes are.
Have you ever gone to a spot and seen 3 links with the exact same title? Have you ever seen a video of an annual event and wondered if it was from this year or last years show? Gone through a whole video on a spot and wondered why it was there? The problem is generic titling. There is a very simple solution for this that I will explain to you and help you put into play in your everyday Fanpopping.
Have I read this article before??? I just can't tell with this generic title!
