I think if we create a spot, we should be able to do more than just change the spot icon and banner. There are too many people who like to spam certain spots and the Fanpop 4 don`t know about it. There should be a way to control this without having to constantly mail them.

And not only the spot creator, but I think a few active and reliable members should have the possibility to become a moderator of a spot.
The F4 can't handle everything, there are way too many spammers and that sort.

Well it depends because not all members of a spot are reliable enough. The Fanpop 4 should let the spot creator be the moderator and appoint more if necessary for spots with bigger fan bases.

I don't think that the spot creator should nessicarily have to be the only spot moderator. but I think maybe they should be able to. Like you said, I think some of the people who are fans of the spot should be able to moderate them.

Not necessarily... Not everyone has the time to do so, so if they don't want to, they don't have to... But if they want to, they should be able to :)

But if they are bad moderator or they get reported loads, then I think the most active user on the spot that his been there the longest (if they can see who is) or someone they consider reliable should become the moderator...

If they even pick a selection of users and let the other users vote who.

I totally agree with you, Myra.
w2w, I don't think that a spot moderator, who has been the creator of the spot, can be a 'bad' moderator. After all, if you have taken the time to create a spot then you want to do right and what's best for that spot. That's how I feel, anyway. In the event that the creator of the spot is too busy to moderate or is bo longer around, then the most active (being interested) user should have the option of moderating.

I said no as sometimes the spot creator doesn't do anything with with spot. I belong to a few of those. Obviously there are some creators who love and want to nurture and do what's best for the spot (you may add my name here, LOL) but that's not always the case. Going with the creator or devoted member...that's something to consider. I'm not sure exactly what would be involved, but I'd be interested enough to learn.

HA! *bites tongue to not mention names* I know YOU would, Cam. But really erm we both have seen enough examples of people creating spots and then just leaving them...

I have to agree with germany on this, I know certain spot creators would be great like cam and chel and myra oh you know there are a few others but for those few others there are loads who just abandon spots.

Only if they are very active. I think it would also be a good idea to maybe appoint someone who is very active in a spot to be moderator if the actual creator isn't active. It would help eliminate some spam that gets put into certain spots.

If there were anything to moderate on my spot I'd love to moderate it. But I'm afraid I see this glass as half empty. Some people throw up spots just to be making spots. And some of them (no names)are so vain and childish they would ban anyone whose opion they didn't care for. I would really like to be wrong about this but I've had issues with mods don't you know.

I think it's a good idea on paper but i'm not so sure it would work in theory for the reasons everyone had said above, i'm sure many people would mod in many different ways and it would more likely cause more fights and more issues for the f4 to deal with. I have seen arguments on spots, over the icon and banner

members with a red medal do have extra perks though so kat your sort of already kind of a mod for 13 spots is it now?

Yes to a Moderators Team for each spot! If it can be done properly, I think it could work. They would have to be carefully selected members who are active and reliable.

Moderators would only be granted limited permissions. The rules should be more clearly defined and the moderators would have their own set to follow as well. Maybe have reported content automatically moved to a 'pending' area, and 3-day(?) notices sent to violators before taking any final action? A member's account could also be deactivated but only if (s)he's obviously a spammer or something? And have each moderator's actions recorded too.

Well, if these can be done at all! :D

But what's the problem exactly? Spammers/trolls or inappropriate contributions? Or is it both?

to put it simply way to much power in one persons hands

to many people would abuse this power and do childish things like getting back on different users would add content on there spots so ya its quite unnecessary although i do think there should be people on the spot that take the time out to report bad content
