Hi everyone,

I’m writing this article because I believe the new wall system has real potential of improving the way people use the props. I realize that not all fanpoppers will follow my advize, but I still feel the urge to write this.

I’ve been on fanpop for quite some time now, and I’ve received and given quite a few props. However, only a small amound of the props I received were ‘real props’. To clarify: by ‘real props’ I mean props received for actual content I’ve submitted. All the other props were ‘thanks for being a fan – props’ or ‘happy whatever day you came up with now – props’.

I feel the new wall function on our profile will be helpful in resolving this prop-crisis. Before the walls exsisted, when somebody became a fan of you, the only thing you could to to thank them was to fan them back. Nevertheless, a lot of people apparently feel the need to do more then that. So far the only two options were to send somebody a personal message or to give them a prop (for something else) and specify in the prop comment. Hardly anyone sends a personal message to thank someone for being a fan, so the props are massively used for this.

Now what exacly is the problem with this? Allow me to explain. Whenever I receive an email from fanpop telling me I have a new prop waiting for me, I get excited. ‘Yay, somebody liked something I contributed so much they feel I deserve rewarding for it!’ Sadly, very often when I click to see what it is I got the prop for, it’s one of the ‘unreal props’. I hate getting dissapointed like that. Getting a ‘real prop’ is such a great thing! It says so much more then a medal. It means somebody saw something you contributed, and thinks it’s awesome/funny/good enough to track down the fan that added it and reward cette fan with a real prop. I’m happier with one honest prop then with 20 ‘fans’ of an image I contributed.

So now the solution (sorry I rambled on so long). The wall function can now be used to thank people for being their fan or to wish them a happy whatever day! That way, when I receive an email announcing a new prop, chances are, it’s actually a real prop! Also, when visiting someone’s profile, the prop count might just really say something about the quality of content that fan has submitted…

Wow, even I am surprised about the length of this article… Who new I could write so much about something as silly as props. Please don’t take me to seriously, I know I don’t ;)
