I have a pet peeve.

As a writer, I have found my stuff posted on other websites without my permission, and sometimes without so much as a mention that it was MY article... or a link back to the original. This ticks me off, and it is illegal to do so.

I have not come across this on Fanpop with articles yet, but I have seen it numerous times on images.

Some of the people I adore the most are even doing it. I have to assume innocence here and figure some folks just don't know... so I'ma tell ya ;)

Credit. Credit. Credit. The option to add the photo credit when you submit an image is there for a reason. It is to protect Fanpop from massive headaches later on, and you from being sued.

You might search for images on Google, but that is not who to credit. When you find the image you want, there is a url under it when you click on the image. From there it is easy to find the name of who owns that image. If it is not cited, then you need to cite that website in the credit to protect both yourself and Fanpop.

Not citing the copyright owner is theft, pure and simple. Besides, it is just the right thing to do.

As Fanpop grows, more and more people are going to be taking notice. They are going to see their images were taken without citing the owner. We do not want that kind of trouble around here.

In the case of movie and book covers, cite the studio or publisher of the book. That is way-easy to do. In the case of photos of stars and what have you, the photographer is the way to go, unless you can't find that info, then like I said; cite the website you found it on, or the star.

Please please please make the effort to do this. I do not want to see the day that Dave and Papa are forced to waste time removing thousands and thousands of images because we did not take the time to do it right and legally...

Thank you, Drive through.

Recently I just discovered what the Wiki feature was for. And upon searching, most seem to not know what its purpose is and therefore don't care about it. Never fear, I'm here. It's been approximately never since I wrote an informative article so you are all in for quite the treat!

"It's a glorified article."
I've seen several comments that Wikis are a "glorified article", insinuating that what you can and would put in a Wiki, you can and would put in an article. That is simply not true. See below for example.

Above is what you can do with an article. That is noticeably missing when you...

The little website that can and still is.
The little website that can and still is.
With Fanpop at it's definite high with the (VERY) recent creation of it's own Wikipedia article and it's change from beta to complete, I have decided that it is time to write about my own opinion of the site. Please read through and I hope you will all appreciate my review.

I'm not going to say that there's only one word to describe Fanpop. Because it's a website that dedicates itself to all types of things and people that can differentiate in many ways. And that's part of the greatness of it all. No matter who you are and what you love, it's impossible to not be able to talk about things...

The rating of Fanpop
The rating of Fanpop
I've decided to join the crowd and do a review of the newly un-betad fanpop. I first joined fanpop while searching for free episodes of House M.D. I noticed a pick and wanted to put in my two cents. Hence, my life was changed.

It took me a while to get really active. But soon enough I was recognizing usernames and posting content.

This site is great because it is so simple yet so complex. You like something? Become a fan of the spot. Spot not there? Make one!

Another awesome thing is that fanpop really breaks away from the MyFace universe. You can get personal with other fans, but it's much easier...

Welcome to my Guide!
Welcome to my Guide!
Since they are always new users here, I thought that a guide would help if a guide to Fanpop was created. So, without further a due, here we go!
GETTING STARTED
There are a few ways to get started here on Fanpop!
You can meet friends, join a club, or make contributions! All of these are very easy to do, but the best place for new users is to find a club. There is a search bar on the top of your screen. If you can come up with a topic you are a fan of, search it and if there is a fan club for it, you will see the link below the search bar. Once you get to the club, hit the green button at the...

Don't remain a Fanpop-provided face in the crowd. Upload your own profile image!
Don't remain a Fanpop-provided face in the crowd. Upload your own profile image!
Just a few helpful guidelines for new & old users that will help keep Fanpop fantastic:

1. Upload a profile image. Find an image of you or of something that represents you and upload it as your user icon. This should be especially easy now that there are perfectly-sized icons (100x100) in almost every spot there for you to use. Otherwise you are just another green face in the crowd!

2. Rate videos and links. It's quick & easy, those who add videos and links will appreciate your honest opinions/ratings, and it is yet another way for you to leave your mark on Fanpop!

3. Proofread picks....

((So . . . This is what happens when you aren't paying attention . . . Then you accidentally post an article in the wrong place . . . So now I'm reposting it here.))

So I thought it might be okay if I jump on the bandwagon that seems to be starting. It seems interesting.

How long have you been on Fanpop?
Sadly, the beginning of March this year marked only my first year anniversary. I haven't been here for very long.

Which club are you most active on?
The Anime club, and the Random Role Playing Club. I do tend to be fairly active on my own club as well, simply because I can post a wide variety of...
