I have a pet peeve.

As a writer, I have found my stuff posted on other websites without my permission, and sometimes without so much as a mention that it was MY article... or a link back to the original. This ticks me off, and it is illegal to do so.

I have not come across this on Fanpop with articles yet, but I have seen it numerous times on images.

Some of the people I adore the most are even doing it. I have to assume innocence here and figure some folks just don't know... so I'ma tell ya ;)

Credit. Credit. Credit. The option to add the photo credit when you submit an image is there for a reason. It is to protect Fanpop from massive headaches later on, and you from being sued.

You might search for images on Google, but that is not who to credit. When you find the image you want, there is a url under it when you click on the image. From there it is easy to find the name of who owns that image. If it is not cited, then you need to cite that website in the credit to protect both yourself and Fanpop.

Not citing the copyright owner is theft, pure and simple. Besides, it is just the right thing to do.

As Fanpop grows, more and more people are going to be taking notice. They are going to see their images were taken without citing the owner. We do not want that kind of trouble around here.

In the case of movie and book covers, cite the studio or publisher of the book. That is way-easy to do. In the case of photos of stars and what have you, the photographer is the way to go, unless you can't find that info, then like I said; cite the website you found it on, or the star.

Please please please make the effort to do this. I do not want to see the day that Dave and Papa are forced to waste time removing thousands and thousands of images because we did not take the time to do it right and legally...

Thank you, Drive through.

♥♥I think the way your profile is set up is somewhat important, if you have a neat an interesting profile more people may want to fan you. So profile's are important.! Now what I want to show you is how you can make your profile look a tad more interesting. This is my first tutorial so be kind, sit back, relax, and enjoy!♥♥

#1 Name: There are a bunch of different ways you can write your name in, now what I did here is put a couple of symbols before and after my name and for the letters of my name I did circles around them. The symbols come from link

Here is my other proposal for fanpop.com.
What do you think about it?

You can go to a users profile and check their activity there. But i don't believe it's just me who think it's overbearing to go to activity and then rate or whatever you'll do.
I think it would be a "search-fan-pane" at every spot where you can search for a fan and see everything that the fan has post at the spot your on.
Like this:
1. Go to a spot
2. Search for the user you want to
3. Then you can pick between icons, photos, fanart, videos, articles ect. (It's like when you "Searh Fanpop")
4. when you press at the category you wanna...

I found a list of science fiction fan words that I thought some of you guys out there in the Fanpop domain would enjoy (I've tried to define them in relation to Fanpop):

Actifan : A fan who's active in fandom (by Writing soapbox articles, starting forums etc.)

BNF : a Big Name Fan

Croggle : To shock or Astound (If someone croggles you, you are croggled or becroggled)

Egoboo : An ego boost (the sort caused by finding your article featured or someone new being a fan of you)

Egoscan : To skim through an article (publication) looking for your name mentioned (like googling yourself)

Faan : A Fan who's...

Um, ok so maybe these features aren't THAT secret...
Um, ok so maybe these features aren't THAT secret...
There are a lot of features on Fanpop. Some are well known and others are less well known (there are also a ton of others we *want* to do, but that's for another conversation). Today I thought I would highlight a few of the less-well-known features for you.

Why? Because, dammit, we spent time on these features! Sure picks and images might be sexier, but these are the runts of the proverbial Fanpop-litter and they need some time in the spotlight too.

(side note: if you already know about these, then consider yourself a very knowledgeable Fanpopper. But if you don't...well, here's hoping you...
