Help needed with article formatting!

So. On the side of an article it explains that if you upload some bottom images, you can then embed them in the article. However, I am uploading images and trying to embed INTO the article, but all they do is show up at the very bottom.

Am I doing something wrong? I'll have a line of text that says in the portion where I want the photo to be placed, and still the photo will be stuck at the bottom. Help me pls!

For some reason it deleted all of what I wrote, but I added that my lines of code will look like this: [img<1><left><medium>]. Is that wrong? If not, I don't understand why it isn't working.
