Fanpop Question

Medals?

I understand that medals are given out to those who are hard working and dedicated to a spot. But as I was looking through someones activity on a certain spot so I could see how much contributing I needed to do so that I could get a fanatic medal, I noticed that I had contributed a ton more to a spot and I only have a die-hard medal in the spot I've been trying to get a fanatic medal in. I did the contributing this person has done on the Charmed spot and this is what I saw:(they have a fanatic medal in this spot)

As you can see I have contributed a lot more to a spot then this person has yet they have a fanatic medal and I don't. The method on who fanpop gives medals to doesn't make any sense. Like I said I contributed a ton more then this person, I'm not trying to sound snooty or say that I'm better or whatever, but it is a fact that I contributed more. Please explain to me why I don't have a fanatic medal yet on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spot?

it could also depend on who you picked are they an old member did they start on the spot they may be a founding member which means they would have gotten a red faster.

Over the years, Fanpop has periodically tweaked the medal system. It might be that at the point when that person was adding content the medal system was in a phase where it was very easy to get a fanatic medal. There have been points in Fanpop's history when very, very little needed to be added to a club in order to get a die-hard medal, and there have been similar points in time when fanatic medals seemed to come too easily as well.

Alternatively, they may have added a lot of stuff that then got deleted (because it was a duplicate/offensive etc). I know of people who posted stuff, then it all got removed, but they keept their medal even though they actually hadn't added anything to the club in the end.

Or their content has just been fanned/viewed a hell of a lot, either through whoring or just naturally. I have a die-hard medal in a spot that I've added more than the 2 people with fanatic medals in the spot have added combined. People play the system and it isn't fair, but at least you know you are contributing to clubs in a way that celebrates the subject rather than for superficial personal gain. The medals don't matter if you are contributing to a club positively and making it a nicer place.

Oops forgot to say that based on your current contributions to the spot and Fanpop's apparent current medal system, you probably wouldn't have a fanatic medal anyway. In the past, you probably would, but at the moment I've seen people add 20,000+ items to clubs and still only be on a die-hard medal. Its just an example of how the medal system has changed across time.

The person probably added more videos and more people fanned his/her content.

I've put 500 images into the Pokémon spot and I have nothing. I believe it is the amount of images/vids/picks/etc you upload/make divided by the amount of stuff all ready in the club, explains why my original account got a medal on a small club (Digimon vs Pokémon) with only picking around 50-100 picks but nothing on the pokemon club where I've uploaded a ton of images and made quite a few picks. No idea on how the Fan/like feature favors into the math though.

did you read my whole thing? Because I gave most of the sections I left out the videos because I forgot to put it in but they have 0 videos. So I did put a lot more than this person in every section yet they still have a higher medal than me.!

These are the things I added to the Hunger Games spot in total, which implicates that I posted much lesser things than the both of you. :)

And I just received my Die-Hard metdal in the Hunger Games spot around two days ago.

It's strange, because I wasn't expecting it at all. Nor do I completely understand how I, despite at least two other fans who contributed immense more material or were longer members in general on this spot who have Dedicated medals, was the one who got the most recent Di-Hard. o_O

I...guess it's sort of a...strange thing about the medals. :/
