Fanpop Question

I'm a little confused by this...

..So someone added me on here and I went to add them back and I saw this. Their age says 12, even though you're supposed to be 13 to get it. Now I know people under 13 sneak in anyways, but they usually have an older age on their profile because I didn't think it would let you put anything where you're under 13 on where you put your birthday. (Am I making sense? I seem not to be but I'm explaining as best as I can..) Anyways, could someone explain why fanpop would allow you to put this, that you're under 13, as your age on your profile when you're supposed to be 13 to get in? :/

you can also be 99 or 199 for that matter..*shrug* they made a box thats programmed to calculate your age depending on the year you entered.
it isnt limited to any particular age range and i have no idea why BUT it doesnt matter anyway cause who is really going to prove anyones age?

my profile says 31 and female but trust me i am a dude, 58 years old and i really REALLY smell of onion rings and whiskey.and i own a gun which i use to scare kids who ruin my lawn.

It just calculates the age but it does not block people under the age of 13.
I also know some people below the age of 13 here.
Fanpop trusts the people to not go on this site below the age of 13, not really a bright idea.
Me personally don't mind the young people but sometimes I do think why they are on fanpop while being so young.
