This round is where things started to change. Unlike the previous rounds that were won by AaronHayley4ever and myself, we have a new winner. My co-runner for the contest and I'm glad she won. She won this round because of the critically acclaimed song, Ducktales, from the animated TV series of the same name. It's no wonder that this song won because it's always considered one of the best childhood TV show theme songs, along with the Power Rangers and Pokemon theme songs. But without further delay, here is the interview of our new winner.
You’re the first new winner that we’ve had. How does it feel to finally win something?
It feels great! I was kind of beginning to wonder if I would win any rounds, so this makes me really happy.
The song Ducktales is from the TV show. What was it that got you hooked on that show?
I've always loved it, ever since I first saw it as a child. Probably the main reason I like it so much is the complexity of the characters. With Disney so often their heroes are very one-dimensional, and too perfect. But in DuckTales the heroes and flawed and quite complex. It's actually one of the few shows where I think the heroes are more interesting than the villains.
Is Ducktales one of your favorite Disney songs, if not your favorite?
Yes, it's definitely if not my favorite, than one of my favorites. As far as what my actual favorite Disney song is, there are so many good ones it just depends on what I'm in the mood for. But some of my other favorites would be 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' (TLM), 'Eye 2 Eye' (A Goofy Movie), and 'Life is a Highway' (Cars).
What is it about this song that you like?
The main reasons I've always loved it is because it's very catchy, uplifting, and encouraging with a nice beat. And even though it's some what of a rock song it's not too hard.
Everyone loves that theme song; the Nostalgia Critic even named it the catchiest nostalgic song EVER. How does it feel to know that people love a song that you adore?
It makes me feel really happy that so many people love it. But I can't say I'm too surprised that it's so popular.
Why do you think everyone loves the song so much?
I don't know if this makes any sense, but I think that song has a little something for everyone, honestly. Like I said above it's very encouraging and uplifting. And it's really just pleasant to listen to. Seriously, how can you not like it?
If you had to choose a different singer for the song, who would it be? Please pick who you would pick if it was another male and who you would choose if it was a female and explain why.
For a male singer I'd probably choose Elton John. Mostly because he's preformed a lot of Disney songs and has an amazing voice. For a female it would be Anika Noni Rose. Not only do I love her as a singer but she's also played/voiced in some of favorite movies. Like in The Princess and the Frog, she's Tiana's voice, and you can tell she has an amazing voice.
Was Ducktales your first choice for an end credit song? If not then what were some of the songs you considered?
No it wasn't my first choice. I tried making up some song, but I didn't have much luck. I also thought about using some songs 'Supermodel', that had more to do with the plot of the story, but I decided against it.
Do you think that some people might find a song about adventure and danger a bit out of place to be an end credit song for a story about a beauty pageant?
Yes, some might find it out of place, and I thought about that when I decided to use it as the end credit song. I thought about using a song that was about fashion and/or pageants. But I decided to continue with tradition, and give it the same end credit song as DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, since it was intended to be a sequel to it.
If you could choose a Disney Channel star to do a music video/cover of Ducktales, like Christina Aguilera with Reflection and Demi Lovato with Let It Go, who would it be?
If I could choose any Disney Channel star it would be Selena Gomez, because she did an amazing performance of 'Cruella De Vil'. If I had to choose a current one it would be Dove Cameron, because I've seen her give some great performances too.
You’re also a judge for the contest, so if you could’ve voted for yourself, would you? (be honest)
Yes I would have, just because I love that song.
Do you think you deserved to win? (be honest)
Yes, but I think there are others that deserved to win too.
