Personal note: This story is inspired by a personal thing I'm going through. There's this girl I have a crush on, I have for a little over a year, but I can't have her. It's not because of her being in a relationship, it's because we used to be related, sort of. It's really hard for me to see her and know that I can't have her, even though it also brings me joy to see her. Now pretty much all of the actions taken place here didn't happen, this is just the inspiration for a story I wanted to make to maybe help me get through this. Anyway, to the story!
Plot
Once upon a time in a beautiful kingdom there was a peasant boy named Charles, but he preferred to be called Charlie. He was 19 years old, was handsome in a common not that special way, was kind, loved animals and children, and dreamed of something more. Both of his parents died just a year ago, so he's on his own. He lives on a small cottage and works as an assistant to the blacksmith. He didn't live alone, he has a pet parrot (his best friend), Shadow. Shadow talked like she was human (much like Iago) but believed that Charlie needed a woman in his life, to which Charlie said he's just fine.
In this kingdom was also a princess, soon to be a queen, her name was Cordelia. Her beauty was known for miles around. She had stick luxurious raven black hair, thick rose red lips, white but somewhat tanned skin, almond ocean blue eyes, a perfect nose, a striking profile, a stunning and refined facial structure, and a beautiful body. However, her beauty didn't mean too much to her because it had people just giving her attention because of it and her status. She wished she looked like a common girl and was a peasant so she could be free. However, she wouldn't be because her father has passed so now she is to be queen, once she marries a prince.
Cordelia's mother, Queen Isabella, has picked out a prince named Alexander from an extravagantly rich kingdom to marry her. He was incredibly handsome, had a strong and masculine body, deep blue eyes, and raven black hair. All of the girls swooned over him. However, he was actually very arrogant, vain, and selfish. Cordelia was against marrying him but was told by her traditional mother that it's tradition and it's her duty to marry someone and become queen.
The Queen announced the engagement to the kingdom and to celebrate they had the newly engaged couple ride around in a parade. Charlie was in the crowd, just mocking how ridiculous it was and how royalty just waste money while the peasants worked their fingers to the bone. However, he stopped his mocking once he laid his eyes on Cordelia for the first time. He had never seen such beauty before, yet he could also see how unhappy she looked. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor princess being forced into marriage.
Cordelia's eyes met with Charlie's and she just felt like there was something about him that seemed special. She thought he was good looking, but knew he wasn't anything special in that department, though she thought his eyes were gorgeous. There was just something about him that she felt like she had to meet him, talk to him, and couldn't take her eyes off him. However, once Alexander saw that Cordelia was looking as Charlie he put his arm around her, Charlie looked away, and Cordelia was sad that he stopped looking at her.
Shadow informs Charlie that she saw the way he and the princess were looking at each other, believing it to be love. However Charlie just scoffed at that notion, saying that love at first sight doesn't exist and that people like him don't end up with people like her. But that didn't stop Shadow from rubbing in that Charlie is in love with the princess when they got home, to which Charlie remarks that he thinks they'll have parrot for dinner. However, even though he knew that him even meeting the princess was impossible, he just wished he could see her again.
Cordelia couldn't stop thinking about that boy she saw, she didn't know why. But she also couldn't help but also think about how trapped she was. Her life was being decided for her and she had absolutely no choice in the matter. She was to marry a man that she didn't even like in the slightest. So early in the morning, she disguised herself as a peasant and sneaked out of the castle, just to get a taste of freedom. She also thought she'd keep an eye open for that boy she saw.
Charlie eventually bumped into the princess, he even recognized her and was surprised no one else did. The two didn't know what to say to each other, they just stared at each other for a few seconds and just went on their way. After Charlie was done with work he went off to the woods to have some fun. He felt going into the woods for a walk was the closest thing a peasant boy like him will ever get.
On his way he noticed Cordelia and how she was helping two lost children find their way home, he followed them. When she helped the two children find their family she went back into the woods and Charlie followed her. He was very curious, he had never known a high class person to be so kind, the ones he met were all snobs. She ran into some animals, a deer, a rabbit, and a blue bird. They all just seemed to love her and were enchanted by her.
However, she noticed Charlie very soon and was asking him if he was following her, to which he responded that he was just walking in the woods. He also asked why the princess is outside the palace and in the woods, to which she said that she wanted to know what it's like to be free. Charlie mocked that saying that the peasants aren't free, they have to work hard everyday just to get a meal on the table, unlike the royalty. However Cordelia snapped back by saying that being royal isn't all that great with being forced to marry, having you life decided for you, and everyone criticizing every single little thing you do.
Charlie then asked if she was running away, to which she said no. The two of them began to talk, they ended up finding out that both wish that they could have a life of adventure and traveling the world but can't because of their status. Charlie actually told her that her status is all the more reason she should have an adventure, because it'll help her see how the world really works so she can be a great ruler one day. She smiled and Charlie told her what an amazing smile she has, to which she thanked him.
She said that she needed to get back home and for a few moments Charlie said nothing, until finally he asked that since it's already late that maybe she might wanna come over to his house for dinner. For a while she didn't know what to say but eventually decided she would. When they arrived Cordelia told Charlie what a lovely home he had, he thanked her. Charlie even introduced Cordelia to Shadow and they got along great. They had a lovely dinner and it was much simpler than what Cordelia was used to, which was refreshing. The two continued to talk and get to know each other, Charlie even shared how he hates his job because his boss keeps on telling him what a wimp he is.
However there was a knock at the door and it turned out to be the royal guards and Prince Alexander, who were out looking for Cordelia. When they saw him with Cordelia they thought he kidnapped her so they tried to arrest him. However Cordelia tells them he didn't kidnap her. She decides to tell a lie by saying that wanted to see what the peasant life was like and when she wanted to go back home she got lost, she hadn't eaten and that Charlie was kind enough to let her come in and eat dinner with him. They apologize to Charlie and release him, but Cordelia had to leave, she couldn't help but look back at Charlie.
Back at the palace Queen Isabella scolded Cordelia for sneaking off and staying out so later. Cordelia tells her mother not to talk down to her like she's a child, stating that she's soon to be the queen. Isabella tells her that a queen does not act like this and that she is not to leave the castle without an escort again. She agrees, but on one condition, that her friend Charlie can come and live in the palace as her Squire. Her mother thought this was odd but she agreed to it.
The next day Charlie was about to leave for work until he heard a knock at the door. Much to his surprise it was the Princess, accompanied by two guards. He asked what she was doing there and she told him that he was going to live in the palace as her squire, much to his delight. He quickly packed his bags, which the guards helped him carry. He asked Cordelia why she did this and she merely said that she just had a special feeling about him, also that she knew how much he hated his job.
Charlie was given his own uniform with such beautiful colors and his own room. During the day Cordelia simply told him to keep her company and talk to her. Whenever she had free time she would spend as much time with him as she could. One day when she was bored he took her outside the palace, stating that as long as she had an escort that she'd still be keeping her promise. She introduced her to everyone in the village and had them tell her about the problems they have, hoping that she'll fix them when she becomes queen. Those two children she had helped the other day came up to her just to say hi, which she loved and gave them a hug.
After hearing all the problems from her people, Cordelia and Charlie were invited to a party that the peasants were holding. At first they didn't want to but the peasants just wouldn't hear of it. But to their surprise, Charlie and Cordelia had a fantastic time; they laughed, sang, and even danced. As they went back to the palace they just couldn't help but keep laughing and smiling.
However, the queen wasn't very pleased with this at all. However Charlie told her that he was her escort so she didn't break her promise. But the queen didn't want to hear none of it and ordered Cordelia to come with her. She told her that all of this had to stop, going outside the palace and being so close to Charlie. Cordelia told her mother that as future queen she can go outside the palace if she wishes and that her and Charlie were simply just friends. However her mother didn't believe it, claiming that she see's the way they both look at each other. She admitted that he's a nice boy but that he wasn't for her, that she was engaged to Prince Alexander. She forbid her from spending too much time with Charlie, to which Cordelia told her mother that she is a grown woman and the future queen, can do as she she wishes and that her mother could not order her around. Cordelia then stormed out without even paying attention to her mother demanding her to come back.
The following day Prince Alexander came up to Charlie asking to talk to him, to which Charlie agreed. He told him that getting too personal with your employer isn't a good thing, that it always leads to trouble. Charlie merely said that he and Cordelia are just friends, nothing more, however Alexander said that that's getting too personal as well. He told him that she's a princess and the future queen and that Charlie is just a peasant boy who was lucky enough to be chosen to be a squire. Alexander asked Charlie if he really thought that he actually had a chance to be with someone like Cordelia and could compete with someone like him. Charlie was feeling very irritated and started to tell him that they were just friends and that if Cordelia had a choice she would choose to marry anyone but him (Alexander) and just walked off.
As Charlie was about to go into his room, Cordelia came up to Charlie asking if he would walk with her in the garden, to which he agrees. She tells him how she feels like she can't go through with the wedding and doesn't know what to do. Charlie suggest she cancels the wedding but Cordelia says she won't become queen unless she marries. However, Charlie tells her that she could do something about that by speaking to her mother to help her change that law. Cordelia says that her mother is old fashioned and traditional so she would never agree to that. But Charlie tells her that she needs to be brave and speak up for what she wants, if she doesn't then everyone will just walk all over her when she is queen, so Cordelia says she'll consider it. Charlie tells Cordelia that if she's done with him he would like to go back to his room. However Cordelia told him that she also wanted to invite him to her engagement ball, a party that happens the night before the wedding. Charlie isn't sure at first because he doesn't have anything to wear and doesn't really belong there but she just begged him until he agreed.
Once Charlie went to his room he was overwhelmed by all of this and couldn't believe all of this was happening. He was invited to a royal ball and was friends with a princess. Could this all be true? Shadow had been spying and just had to rub in how much she knows they're in love, to which Charlie tells her that they're just friends. But Shadow didn't buy it, because she knew it wasn't true. Charlie just told her that guys like him don't end up with girls like her. Shadow told him that she sees the way Cordelia looks at him and that it's really obvious that she loves him, just like he loves her. Charlie started to think that maybe it's true, maybe she does love him, and maybe he loves her. But he asked what would he even wear, suddenly there was a knock at the door. It was the clothing designer here to make him a magnificent suit to wear at the ball, orders from Princess Cordelia.
While Cordelia was getting dressed in a magnificent ball gown with her hair up in a unique looking bun and a golden tiara. During all of this she couldn't help but think that she had to talk to her mother, not only because she didn't want to marry Alexander, but also because she was in love with Charlie. She went to her mother after she was done getting dressed and told her she didn't want to marry Alexander. However, she was outraged and told her she had no choice but to marry him, otherwise she couldn't become queen. But Cordelia told her that she was still queen and could change the law so that she can become queen and not have to get married. She flat out refused because it goes against tradition. So Cordelia says if she must marry let it be someone that she chooses and loves. Queen Isabella knew that this was because of Charlie, to which Cordelia tells her it is but also because she wants to be happy with someone she loves and have control over her life. Her mother said they will discuss it after the ball.
At the ball Charlie was dressed in a beautiful suit. Everyone looked at him wondering who this boy was. Finally they announced the Queen Isabella, who announced the future king and queen, Prince Alexander and Princess Cordelia. Cordelia was just a vision of radiance and beauty, Charlie just couldn't take his eyes off her, but what really made her beautiful to him was the fact that she was even more beautiful on the inside.
Cordelia managed to sneak away from her fiance and her mother so she could talk to Charlie. She told him how handsome he looked and he told her how beautiful she was, both thanked the other. The next song came and the two decided to dance. Everyone just stood there in amazement and confusion, the engaged princess was dancing with someone who is not her betrothed. The two of them were the only ones dancing but they didn't even notice it or that everyone was staring. They just felt like they were the only two people in the world, like nothing else in the world mattered.
When the dance was over the two kissed and everyone just stared in puzzlement, while the two lovers stared at each other with amazement. But that moment ended once Alexander came and took Cordelia by the hand and dragged her off. He criticized her for making a fool of him, to which she said that wasn't something that he needed any help with. He tells her that she is never to see Charlie again, to which she refuses and tells him he cannot tell her what to do. He is later dragged away by her mother, who tells that she is not to see Charlie again or else she'll have him killed. Cordelia says she can't do that but her mother informs her that without her marriage to Alexander she won't be queen so she (Isabella) will still be queen and have the power to do so. Cordelia agrees to this, but her mother had a plan in mind, for her to go and kiss Alexander passionately in front of Charlie, to crush him completely. She begs her not to make her do that but her mother forces her to.
Charlie was going to find Cordelia to confess his love for her but when he finds her he sees that she's kissing Alexander, he's broken hearted and leaves the ball. He goes to his room, where Shadow is anxiously awaiting to know what happened. He told her that he got a taste of reality because she kissed Alexander. She asked why and he tells her because he's a prince and she's a princess while having tears go down his face. I couldn't believe that he actually thought for a moment that maybe something could happen but realized that she comes from gold, jewels, silk, and fine whine while he comes from copper, hay, wool, and water from the river. He couldn't believe that he was so stupid but Shadow just kept trying to understand why this was all happening but instead of asking him about details she decides to comfort him.
He decided that he needed to just go back to his old life so he goes to the Queen telling her he quits, much to her satisfaction. However, as he was leaving Cordelia saw him as she was getting ready for her wedding and just had to see him. She asked where he was going and he told her he's going back home to his old life. But he angrily just asked her if she just felt sorry for him? Was he just some charity? She answers no but he doesn't believe her. He tells her that for a moment he actually thought that something was actually real between them but that he should have known better, that she's just like all the other royalty and nobles he's met; spoiled, selfish, and cares only about wealth, status, and themselves. He states that she never really cared about him, to which she tells him was not true but he didn't believe her and just walked off. She begged him to let her explain but he wouldn't listen and just said "congratulations on your wedding your majesty, I hope you and that arrogant snob of a prince have a happy life together but don't expect me to be at your coronation." She begged him to come back and let her explain but he wouldn't and she couldn't keep up with him.
Cordelia dropped to her knee's and started crying. She hated her life now more than ever because her status not only has her unable to control her life but has also had her hurt the one she loves the most. But she stopped crying once Shadow came to ask her why she kissed Alexander when it's obvious that she loves Charlie. Cordelia explain the whole thing and begged Shadow to tell Charlie and to let him know that she loves him, Shadow agreed as she flew off.
Charlie finally arrived back at his old home where he just couldn't stop thinking about what a fool he's been and that the worst part was that he actually loved Cordelia. Finally Shadow arrived and explained everything to Charlie. Charlie actually believed the story but wasn't about to do anything about it, which made Shadow angry. Shadow told him he needed to go and fight for Cordelia, go to that wedding and fight for her hand. Charlie just said that it's impossible and that there's no way he could win her hand, she's a princess and he's a peasant, things like that only happened in fairy-tales. Shadow preaches about how he needs to believe that a dream can come true and that love will conquer all the troubles that comes up against it. Charlie asks why this is so important to her and Shadow replies that it's because she wants him to be happy. She tells him about how when she was just a little baby parrot and couldn't even fly, how she was just lost and alone but then an amazing and handsome little boy (Charlie) came and took her in. She told him that she was grateful for all those wonderful years together and how she just wanted to repay her best friend by helping him to get his happy ending.
Charlie thought for a moment then finally smiled and said that they're going to need some help. He gathers everyone in the village and they all agree to help him stop the wedding, to overthrow the Queen Isabella, and make Cordelia the queen. They gather their weapons and Charlie was given a sword. But that wasn't all, Shadow gathered animals from the forest and even some barn animals to help them.
They go and storm into the castle, fighting off the guards and some comical scenes from Shadow and the barn animals. They finally got to where the wedding was being held but they were stop by a guard that wouldn't let them through, to which Charlie responds saying "say hello to my little friend" and Shadow attacks by pecking the guard on the head repeatably.
The preacher asks if anyone has a reason that Alexander and Cordelia shouldn't be wed to speak now or forever hold their piece. Charlie storms in shouting that he objects, Cordelia for a moment was overflowed with joy but went back to being depressed because of how she knew he would be killed. But the army of peasants came in along with Charlie to back him up. Charlie begged Cordelia not to marry Alexander but she said she had to and Charlie tells her to tell everyone why. She doesn't respond and the Queen comes ordering the guards to take Charlie and the peasants away but she realizes that her guards have been defeated. Charlie proclaims to everyone in the church that he loved Princess Cordelia and that the queen threatened to kill him if she didn't marry Alexander. Everyone gasped, Isabella tells everyone that Charlie was lying, Charlie tells Cordelia to tell everyone the truth because it's her duty as the future queen, and Cordelia announced that it was all true.
Everyone gasps in horror, Isabella orders them to be silent and proclaimed that she was still queen, to which Charlie proclaimed that she wasn't anymore and that Cordelia was the rightful queen of the kingdom and should have the right to marry whoever she wanted. Alexander is angered by all of this and engages in a sword fight with Charlie, and what a magnificent sword fight it was. However, Alexander was a skilled sword fighter and managed to overpower Charlie and about to kill him. But Cordelia ran and punched Alexander out cold, saving Charlie.
Suddenly the guards came in, Isabella orders them to cease Charlie and the peasants but they didn't move an inch. She ordered them once again, but still they did nothing. Finally the captain of the guards asked Cordelia what her orders were and she told them to cease her mother. Isabelle was outraged and claimed this to be treason. However Cordelia told her mother the only one here guilty of treason is her (Isabella). She reminded her mother that according to tradition that the penalty for treason is death, Isabella's eyes widen in horror, but Cordelia states that lucky for her that she believes many of the traditions need to be changed. Isabella asked her daughter what she was going to do to her. Cordelia answered saying that she loved her and that the best thing she could do for her is disinherit her and have her live among the peasants until she believes that she truly realizes what really matters and was remorseful for everything she has done.
The guards take Isabella away, take away her jewels and gold, dress her like a peasant, and send her away. However, Shadow delivers a little "present" for Isabella while she flew over her, to which Isabella screams in agony.
Charlie at that moment went over to Cordelia and asked for her hand in marriage, she agrees. After being fitted for his wedding suit, Charlie and Cordelia got married and were crowned the King and Queen of the kingdom. Everyone rejoiced that the two of them finally got together and believed they would be a wonderful King and Queen. The happily one of all was Shadow, she cried at their wedding and even when they were crowned the King and Queen at their coronation. Indeed they were amazing as King and Queen, their ruled with kind and fair hands. Alexander back in his kingdom was also disinherited and suffered the same fate as the former Queen Isabella. Charlie and Cordelia also were allowed to travel the world, making deals with other leaders around the world, but also having their own adventures. Not only that, but after two years of marriage they were enjoying a new adventure, the adventure of parenthood with twins, a boy and a girl.

Songs
Just Another Day
(This song takes place during the beginning. It's sung by Charlie and Cordelia as they go about their daily lives wishing for something more, unaware that there's someone else feeling the same way they do.)
Charlie: It's morning and it's time to get up and get... *yawns* ready...
Breakfast, getting dressed, and off to work
Getting called a wimp by my blowhard boss
But I just wonder if maybe there's something more for me
Just another day, the same as all the others
Just the same old boring provincial thing
Just another day of just dreaming of something more
Traveling through the seas
Exploring new horizons
Meeting new people
Going on a life changing and dangerous adventure
Is there something out there somewhere?
Is there someone out there somewhere?
Just waiting for me?
Or is it just gonna be another day?
Cordelia: It's an important week so I have to be perfect
Stand up straight, dress nice, walk up right, and speak perfectly
I'm about to start a new life before my first one has even started
But I just wonder if maybe there's something more for me
Just another day, the same as all the others
Just the same old boring provincial thing
Just another day of just dreaming of something more
Traveling through the seas
Exploring new horizons
Meeting new people
Going on a life changing and dangerous adventure
Is there something out there somewhere?
Is there someone out there somewhere?
Just waiting for me?
Or is it just gonna be another day?
Both: Just another day
Charlie: Of working
Cordelia: Of lessons
Both: Just another day
Charlie: Of being treated like dirt
Cordelia: Of having to be the perfect princess
Both: Just another day of wondering if maybe there's something more for me
Cordelia:Just another day, the same as all the others
Charlie:Just the same old boring provincial thing
Both: Just another day of just dreaming of something more
Charlie: Traveling through the seas
Cordelia: Exploring new horizons
Meeting new people
Charlie: Going on a life changing and dangerous adventure
Is there something out there somewhere?
Cordelia: Is there someone out there somewhere?
Both: Just waiting for me?
Or is it just gonna be another day?
Dancing In The Moonlight
(This song is sung by the villagers, Charlie, and Cordelia at the party they have at the village)
Village man: Come on everybody, let's dance!
Let's dance in the moonlight
Young lovers find your partner
The moonlight will cast it's magic spell
You won't be able to resist each other
Everybody: We're dancing in the moonlight
We'll keep on dancing til the sun comes up
Don't stop dancing in the moonlight
The fun has only just begun
Keep on dancing in the moonlight
The night is still young
We're dancing in the moonlight
Charlie: It's time to let loose
Throw all of your worries to the wind
Let's dance in the moonlight
It will cast it's magic spell
You won't be able to resist it
So keep on dancing in the moonlight
Everybody: We're dancing in the moonlight
We'll keep on dancing til the sun comes up
Don't stop dancing in the moonlight
The fun has only just begun
Keep on dancing in the moonlight
The night is still young
We're dancing in the moonlight
Cordelia: Boys spin your partner round and round
Girls make sure your partner can keep up
Let's keep on dancing in the moonlight
It will cast it's magic spell
You know you can't stop
You just can't resist it
So keep on dancing in the moonlight
Everybody: We're dancing in the moonlight
We'll keep on dancing til the sun comes up
Don't stop dancing in the moonlight
The fun has only just begun
Keep on dancing in the moonlight
The night is still young
We're dancing in the moonlight
Listen To Me
(This song is sung by Isabella after Cordelia storms off and refuses to do as she's told)
So you think you're too old to listen to me?
You think you're all grown up?
Well no matter what mother still knows best
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push you
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
Why can't you just see what I do is out of love
Tradition is the only way to do things
A princess has to marry a prince
Not some worthless peasant
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push you
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
If you won't listen to me
I'll just have to make you listen to me
Children aren't meant to make their own choices
That's what parents are for
I can see I'm just going to have to force you to listen to me
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
So listen to me OR ELSE!!!!!!!
For The First Time
(This is a romantic duet sung by Charlie and Cordelia at the ball when they're dancing, they sing in their heads)
Charlie: Can this be real?
Is this not just a dream?
Am I really dancing with her?
Is this feeling really truly real?
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
For the first time in my life, I feel so free
For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
Cordelia: I see him smiling at me and suddenly it's clear
I don't care what they say
With him in my life I can do anything
I finally feel like I'm strong
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
For the first time in my life, I feel so free
For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
Charlie: I can't believe what I'm saying
Cordelia: Oh I can't believe what I'm saying
Charlie: She's turned my whole world upside-down
Cordelia: He's brought a change in me
Both: It's not just another day
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
Charlie: For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
Cordelia: For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
Charlie: For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
Cordelia: For the first time in my life, I feel so free
Both: For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
It's all just so true
For...
The...
First...
Time...
Listen To Me Reprise
(This is sung by Isabella after she drags Cordelia off and threatens to kill Charlie if she doesn't marry Alexander. This version has a little bit of a darker tone to it.)
I can see I'm just going to have to force you to listen to me
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push

Listen To Me
(This song is sung by Isabella after Cordelia storms off and refuses to do as she's told)
So you think you're too old to listen to me?
You think you're all grown up?
Well no matter what mother still knows best
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push you
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
Why can't you just see what I do is out of love
Tradition is the only way to do things
A princess has to marry a prince
Not some worthless peasant
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push you
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
If you won't listen to me
I'll just have to make you listen to me
Children aren't meant to make their own choices
That's what parents are for
I can see I'm just going to have to force you to listen to me
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
So listen to me OR ELSE!!!!!!!
For The First Time
(This is a romantic duet sung by Charlie and Cordelia at the ball when they're dancing, they sing in their heads)
Charlie: Can this be real?
Is this not just a dream?
Am I really dancing with her?
Is this feeling really truly real?
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
For the first time in my life, I feel so free
For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
Cordelia: I see him smiling at me and suddenly it's clear
I don't care what they say
With him in my life I can do anything
I finally feel like I'm strong
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
For the first time in my life, I feel so free
For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
Charlie: I can't believe what I'm saying
Cordelia: Oh I can't believe what I'm saying
Charlie: She's turned my whole world upside-down
Cordelia: He's brought a change in me
Both: It's not just another day
Is love actually getting the better of me?
For the first time in my life, it's real
Charlie: For the first time in my life, it's not just a dream
Cordelia: For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy
Charlie: For the first time in my life, it's like I'm flying
Cordelia: For the first time in my life, I feel so free
Both: For the first time in my life, I'm actually really truly in love
It's all just so true
For...
The...
First...
Time...
Listen To Me Reprise
(This is sung by Isabella after she drags Cordelia off and threatens to kill Charlie if she doesn't marry Alexander. This version has a little bit of a darker tone to it.)
I can see I'm just going to have to force you to listen to me
You will listen to me
You will obey me
And you will follow tradition
Listen to me
I know what's best for you
Listen to me
I love you, that's why I push
Listen to me
Obey me
You won't be ready until you listen to me
SO LISTEN TO ME OR ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
